i think if we consider a single regional language, malayalam may be the one with the highest number of talented musicians followed by tamil......not trying to compare stalwarts like ilayaraja and m.s vishwanathan....i am only saying the total number..
Dear all, if i'm right, this is the last film song composed by Dakshinamoorthi Swami - one of the greatest among himself, legendary Devarajan, Baburaj, Raghavan.
You are right. The last song by Dakshinaamoorthy swami. What a way to finish a career. A golden song which will be remembered by every lover of malayalam film music. This is one of my favorite songs, loved it so much that i tried to sing it on youtube.
Surely not forgotten the great musician, but by the generation class, these are generation1 who brought in and defined the ligh music culture in Malayalam. Ravindran is the brightest in 2nd generation. hats off for reminding :-).
Raveendran Mash and Johnson Mash come to the next generation and they had proudly proclaimed they are of Devarajan school. No undue boasting of Devarajan, but like Kavithrayam old and new, they were considered the gen first legends in comosing!
OK, agreed. You had replied to my comments long back. did you forget that? anyways, i agree with your views
Raveendran, Jhonson, MG Radhakrishnan, (sad that all those left us so early) are from next generation, but Baburaj, Devarajan are from the previous generation, my fav are Baburaj and Raveendran
I think the reason for this drought is while many good composers(M Jayachandran, Ousephachan, Sarat, etc..) have come up, there aren't any new singers to replace the voices and range of Yesudas (mostly), Jayachandran, and even Brahmanandan in their younger days. Those were the glorius days.
The new set of singers (Viadhu Prathap, Vineeth Srini etc..)with their undeveloped voices and modest talents are a disappointment. Madhu Balakrishnan is probably an exception.
I think the work of composer/music director factors more than 65% of a song in whether it being good or not. You cannot blame the singers for it (neither the singers can take undue credits)
But most of the composers are under the false impression that todays young generationle like the so called adipoli songs.
It is the same story with our Malayalam movies also. The directors/producers are under the false impression that audience like our stars, mainly mammooty and mohanlal act like super heros, stooping to the levels of the likes of Rajani Kant, Vijaya Kant, Chiranjeevi etc. etc.
Remember once upon a time, they used to act in movies like Bharatam, Vadakkan Veera gatha, Mrigaya, Amaram, Kireedam, Chitram, Kilukkam, Kamaladalam and so many like them. But now, they act in movies like alibhai, college kumaran, chota mumbai, thuruppu gulan etc. etc. and so many other stupid movies
mammootty and mohanlal contributed a lot in the past to malayalam movies in a positive way and now they are contributing equally or even worse to the degradation of malayalm movies
Agreed. I was mentioning not only this song. But lot many other songs from late 70's and early 80s (even older than those like the Baburaj, Vialar era songs),It is very nice to see that these songs will be heard time and again even after generations passed.
Now a days only a very very few songs coming out which are worth listening to compare to that era.
