@xxcrystlecityxx, that's your opinion, I respect that. I hold Ruffian has the greatest FILLY ever, since she only raced at two and three, she could have very well done nothing at four. Zenyatta excelled from four years old onwards, which is a feat in itself today. Not matter what, they were both champions and we'll never know who was better unless they raced each other, so it's not really a matter worth arguing.
@dustywhipp5 im sorry, the commen was out of line, but it breaks my heart to see people say that zenyatta is the greatest when most have never even heard of ruffian, and whe i tell them who she was they would say something like "she sucked, she was weak to break down"
if you read my about me section onmy wall you would have a little understanding of what i mean...
@xxcrystlecityxx, oh, I see, then. It's bothersome to me, too. Ruffian was definitely one of the greats and her name should always be held in high honor. I've done tributes to Ruffian, too, because I love her. Sorry to come off a little harsh before, I didn't understand what you meant. :)
If the finish line would of been two or three strides farther she would of one. She seemed really tense during the post prade with everyone being so loud.
@horseygal235, yes I know... and she did seem tense, but the lights were new to her, there were a LOT of people, and if you watched closely, Mario ( her groom ) and her owners kept telling them to be quiet... don't know if it worked or not. :P
Aww this is so sweet. I think that she actually proved herself to be one of the greats in that race above any other. I know she's always dropped in behind, but to be 30 lengths off the pace is suicidal. But it doesn't matter that she lost, 20/20 isn't everything and she's retired safe so that's the main thing.
@CoinofCourage, thanks, and I agree with everything you said. She ran the race of her life to come from so far back, get blocked, and still only lose by a head.
And after racing for 4 years ( if you count the two races in 2007 ) and she's STILL sound and winning races, you have to credit the great care her connections took with her. They kept her safe, sound, and happy.
Ruffian is the greatest female racehorse of all time, zenyattas records dont even compare to ruffian!

@dustywhipp5 and who knows whether or not zenyatta would have been good younger?
and its not an oppinion if ruffians records and winning margins of lengths are far better then zenyattas, it is fact.
but your right, not really a matter worth arugring when the greatest is the greatest
