I bought the Dream PT Cruiser for under 20k. Love it. small - fits nice in garage. Heavy - more safe. Low to ground - safer but can hit curbs. I have larger tires which help. It has a poor turning radious and gets poor gas mileage with 2.4l tubo. Overall, It is a nice riding vehicle with plenty of power plus my wife likes it because it is small and can haul a lot. It all depends on what you want. Cars are fun.

I don't think so, but the 2006 pt's I think have the back side window problem....it can be sucked out while driving 60+ because it doesn't have brackets holding that little window in place, just tape

YES IT IS. Yet people pay 30 grand for what is essentially a neon. The PT cruiser is a neon, i've been saying this, along with countless other people who know cars and the verdict is that the PT cruiser is a neon with a new shell. It's a bust, a crap car, and a sham. The WRX kills cars.

I agree mainly with what your saying, but the Pt Cruiser is not on a neon frame. They originally were thinking of that but they couldn't get it to work right so they had to build a new frame for it, making it its own car. they did borrow some ideas from the neon though.

But people who hate the PT Cruiser just drive it. I think that they're ugly but I rented one and drove it 1000 miles. I loved how it handles. Its fun to drive. doesn't have a lot of power but its adequate. I seriously fell in love with that car. but back to the frame look it up on wikipedia it DOES NOT share the neons frame

luv my pt dont want any other "sedan" no space in sedans, my hubs is 6 ft had no luck squeezin in any sedans or space in backseats for adults, we didnt want a mini van so this was an easy "compromise" u sit higher than a sedan. 2 doors are shitty cars. YA looks so cool in your stuck 2 dr sedan,LMAO!!!

@julingy Yeah they're fucking gross looking on the outside but they're actually good cars. My friend picked up a 2002 base model. With a 5-speed manual they're not slow. I raped a 2008 Mazda Miata MX-5 in the street in that car. I just watched the car get smaller and smaller in the rear-view mirror. They don't look like it but they can handle too.

@damiandick No they don't. The chassis that the PT Cruiser is on the the platform called the PT platform since they were built. They were going to put it on the Neon chassis but due to the neons dimensions they could not get it to work with the design of the body. They do share the same motor and the same automatic transmission but the manuals are different. the motor is the only thing they share.

@damiandick also the base motor in the PT Cruiser was a naturally aspired version of the 2.4L 4-cylinder turbo found in the GT and the Neon SRT-4 while the Neon's base motor used a completely different 2.0L 4-cylinder. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

@PIchillin456 I myself may not know what i'm talking about, but the five or so mechanics that have worked on cars for 20+ years that have told me this probably do. My father owns a, 01 pt, and he gets it fixed by these mechanics, so unless your a certified mechanic, the pt's share a neon frame.

I think I know what the fuck I'm talking about. I work on them on a daily basis. Your mechanic friends don't know that the hell they're talking about either. It's a common misconception that for some reason they ignorantly think is true.
