I think Judy Knaiz as Gussie Granger (as Ernestina Simple) is wonderful...supposedly, it's the only movie she ever made.

I read somewhere that the song "Love is Only Love" was written for the original broadway version of "Mame," but Jerry Herman (who wrote the music for both "Dolly" and "Mame") couldn't find an appropriate place for it in that play, and the song sat on the shelf until Streisand got the role of "Dolly" in the the movie version. This is a wonderful song, and the only time during the entire movie that Babs has a song (and the screen) all to herself.

come to think of it at the beginning of the scenes where she talks to her late husband shes alone,at the beginning of "Before the parade passes by" and at the ending where she gets proposed to but for little time range, and then people appear :/
