@Dontbethatwaybitch same because my mate was around and I was on my xbox not paying any attention and he looked at ta thumbnail and he saw this so in this circumstance curiosity didn't kill the cat... in fact we really liked them :)
So being bluesy makes them sound like a hipster band? Do you even know what the word "hipster" means? Another question. Legit. Are you fucking retarded?
@000none000 I fail to see where she said that 'bluesy' makes them hipster. She's just saying that they're starting to sound a bit like other bands that commercialize somewhat in order to reach a larger audience. Maybe you should learn to read a comment before you go shooting your mouth off to feel nice and tough on the internet. Maybe you should keep your bigoted, elitist opinion to yourself next time, and not make such an ass of yourself.
This song defines my life. People always say i have to be like my older sister and do more for christianity. It's so much pressure! It rises my Blood Pressure!! SO MUCH STRESS!!!
Really loving their new stuff. I've been a MM fan since they started, and no matter what sound they go for, they always bring something fresh that is still incredibly musically talented. These guys are amazing.
@Isaac7D if you don't like this song, wait for the album. there will be songs on it you'll like, trust me. i saw them play a lt at a concert and herd the whole thing on a live stream. i'd recommend Prytania, Cavalries, In No Time, and Quarantine. and also Sunray.
@Isaac7D: Yeah it sounds like there was heavy producing influence from Warner. I mean the song sounds alright but its not the direction I thought they would go.
I love this song, jsut surprised they not only say Jesus and God in their songs, they release them for the first two tracks. Not sure the meaning of blood pressure quite yet, is he saying that "blood pressure" feeling bad that "Jesus died for you so you better do better at life". I agree that is wack, but I also don't think that everyone in the church has that viewpoint on christianity, unfortunately mainstream TV christianity does and it sucks what they have done to discourage these odd souls
I think this song is about the pressure your family puts on you. Because it makes sense in the title. Blood as in bloodlines and pressure as in pressure. And to quote to make my point even more valid. " Why can't you be like your older brother"?
Fuck is their new album is the best! If you think they lost their roots and originality, you don't know anything you poor clueless bastards. But don't trip, you will understand the error of your cynicism when the album comes out. Like mute math said last night, "This isn't a departure, its a home comming." Your the best mute math!
@Tatelasteil Seriously. I agree with everything you said, but i would add that these two songs had a bit more "bite" live... as far as musical nuances go and such. Darren had some fills in Blood pressure that were different... and edgier. I loved it all.
So good, glad they changed their sound. If the new songs sounded like everything from their last 2 albums, it would just get old. The best bands can change their sound and still be catchy. Great song
if the rest of their new album is like the two songs already out there, it's gonna suck. because so far they're completely forgettable. i hope mutemath doesn't pull a linkin park. i hate when bands try to be all artsy and shit and redefine themselves. armistice is amazing. they should've stuck to that style and kept perfecting it.
the problem is, that armistice and mutemath (album) are already perfect. these songs are so brilliant, that it would be hard to get them even better. i personally like the song "odd soul" but "blood pressure" is super-mainstream
i hope the album won't be all like this, because as you say, its just forgettable. all the songs of armistice had these details within. you could just listen to it 1000 times without getting bored... not like this song
I'm going to be honest... I don't really like either of the songs I've heard so far (Odd Soul & Blood Pressure). I think they are ok songs... just not great songs. Not songs I'll still be listening to a week from now. Kind of flat and disappointing. I like that the music has more of an edge to it but I'm just not blown away. Sorry.
Again, give us some references or reasons to believe what you say. If you do so, I'll be more than happy, as will others, to consider your argument with un-biased eyes. Until then...
Your absurd assumptions are helping you make a fool of yourself. If you know members of Mutemath personally, which very well.may be the case, then maybe your argument has some validity. Your opinions are merely such; quit trying to flaunt them as facts.
a great new song. i like the fact that this band progresses in each album. And i think Roy brought a more rock feeling on the guitar, which i personally dig very much! Greg indeed had style, but this change can only be good for the band imo.. :)
Wow. Such a great song, on so many levels. The song seems to be about lead singer Paul Meany's disillusionment with the Christian church. It really captures the pain that Paul faced not being able to reconcile the faith of his youth.
And, as far as the music goes, it just generally kicks ass, MUTEMATH style. #WIN
@Trail3rTrash3r I think it's a pretty big stretch to say he can't reconcile his faith. The song is about a wide variety of different things that put pressure on him(and many others), and the line about doing a little more for Jesus could apply to many different things. It could very well be that his particular church or perhaps just members of it unfairly judged him in some way(could very well apply to their departure from CCM). Regardless, I certainly agree with you on the music. Amazing.
@BGradeFan My comment was based on more knowledge than just this song's lyrics. Besides the fact that the lyrics are phrased in a condescending "Why Can't You Be A Better Christian" voice (they really are), Paul Meany has often spoken of not only the fact that he is now closer to a Universalist, but also that he has been upset with the way he was raised (a la Jesus Camp). He is obviously finding himself still, but I think it's fair to say it's this issue that makes his "Blood Pressure" rise.
I don't think it applies that way, at least that wasn't the impression i got from the show last night. He talked about "going back to our roots" and "Let's go back to church" with no hint of animosity IMHO. The line in question, "do a little more for Jesus" could refer to Christian putting the wrong kind of pressure on each other, but that's just my 2 cents.
@racecarjr Interesting... I think you're right (especially based on what he said at the show). He's just trying to figure it out, and for an Odd Soul, I guess that can be difficult. Indeed, it is for everyone.
i'm loving their new style! and i agree with the people saying that good bands should evolve their music overtime, instead of remaining stagnant

I agree with you abbey.
Their old stuff was MUCH better.
Especially their stuff on their EPs; "Progress", in my opinion was the peak of every song they could of ever made, it was the best one.
