  • i'm wondering if there's a possibility that the stones are not moved by human. they could be moved by tide, or they are fragments of a meteorite. They landed there by nature, and then human crafted on it.

  • Lazy as white guy lol hired mexicans to try finish the job typical, reminds me of america, lol.

  • So the little success he had was getting the anchor stable and that was only because the head leader suggested a different technique when the Bob was going to call it quits. For the most part Bob just stands around when he knows they can use as much man power as they can. Bob you suck!

  • Bob sucks!

  • Perhaps it took a long time and there were 20+ Olmecs working on each head?

  • Hold it! Did the Olmecs have access to perfectly-sawn bamboo lengths and rope of that quality?

  • Firstly, if you want to do, you'll need better team leaders than tweedle dum and tweedle dee. One guy's shorts and shirt are so tight that one wonders if he was cruising in the jungle; the other guy, the sculptor, is so out of shape that it's amazing enough he didn't have a heart attack the first day.

  • The Olmecs are the Jonah Lomu's ancient ancestors ! ;)

  • Maybe the Olmec just moved to where the rocks already were, and then carved them...

  • Why are the team leaders always laying down or quitting every time we see them? The only thing the British were good at apparently was enslaving more primitive societies.

  • Simple as this: the Olmecs used slaves

  • they forgot to ask the natives for advice instead the boss try to do it ALL by himself.mayor mistake, ALLWAYS ASK YOUR WORKERS FOR ADVISE,YOU'LL FIND THE ANSWER.DO NOT AUNDERRATE THE PEOPLE

  • 0 people were cheering for the Brits.

  • 2:37 - 3:01: What Bob sounds like having sex?

  • this doco turned out to be pretty disappointing and substandard for bbc, imo.

would be better reflected with the title being something like: bob struggles and fails with rock, or, big rock owns bob. my 2cents anyway, and lights out time :)

  • for those who are not afraid to lose their cherished beliefs that the ancient people had long lost super mental levitating ufo powers, look up "wally wallington".

  • White man chilling in the shade while the Mexican slaves.

  • Fucking English Twits... This was a very disappointing Doc. And on top of that... it is fucking old too... There should be something new about the Olmec... I guess everybody has just given up. Forever a mystery...

  • Yiiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiyiiiiii

  • jajajaja pinche desmadre traen esos weyes, se ve que se la pasaron chido. by the way its obvious they had some sort of technology that has been lost due to our western modern way of thinking, they had different neuronal conections hence different way of thinking how to solve the problems like this one rather than ropes and timber.

  • Funny still people shouting technology did it. Smdh

  • amazing, absolutely amazing

  • well what instantly occured to me is, clearly the rocks were moved , after being 'loaded up' perhaps the rocks were then carved, vastly reducing the weight, and increasing it centre of gravity, the scultors could be in specialist teams , each focusing on spacific area of the head, olmec boats were designed for speed, simply logic would have meant transportation via water was the only option, perhaps the rocks were there anyway, thus being the reason they were carved.

  • dude they used a crane !

  • Wally Wallington would move that on his on.

  • Dosen't bob realize that those people likely don't know a ton of English?

  • what's with that scarf?

  • @sporadicMotion what's with those short shorts?

  • lol...Bob and his henchmen are dumber than a bunch of cavemen

  • That narrator is too funny. Poor Bob

  • Your almost right,, but you forgot about something LACK OF MAN POWER, just as the Egytian had. It take more than 1000 to move a 2 ton rock.

OLd man curve the stone with a team. day and nite,, U can complete it in ten days

  • When I watch this it makes me think of the guy in Florida who made Coral Castle. He moved stone this size by himself at night in private and wouldnt share how he did it. I believe the Government should have made him share his knowlege. I know that sounds bad but its a technology that could benefiit all. So yea they should have forced him to share the lost technology he obviously re-discovered. But he went to his grave with secret and that was really selfsh because it may never be re-discovered.

  • Let's if physicality isn't working maybe spirituality, or the understanding that there is no stone, ah well I guess some secrets will remain secret. Probably should of just asked the locals for ideas.

  • The Olmecs have been treated here somewhat unfairly, these people may have been the first civilization in the south of the Americas, but they were certainly not stupid nor backwards in their approach. This whole documentary though very interesting, did not give no where near enough consideration to Olmec knowledge, technology or resources when planning the transportation of the rock. Further more one would think if the Olmecs made balls, then they are very likely to have some idea of the wheel.

  • @reddesertsands : Good thing some people are still paying attention. :)

  • I think the real advantage that the Olmecs ad was time... lot of time to prep and everything..

  • I approve of this video

  • lazy ass white ppl who think they're smart. All there technology were stolen from other cultures then they rewrote history making there self look like gods. I know my history & the lies they teach at school is none of it

  • Really, Did they also teach you that in Africa they think fucking a virgin cures aids? Or how they cut of fingers to remove a headache? Your just as racist as the people who oppress you.

  • @TrueGreatness73, your comment is somewhat generic, would you care to elaborate a little more on your views?

  • BBC never send good old tool wielding tradesmen. I think their white collars have isolated them a touch. Just send three old steel erector/riggers and they would plough through that job. BBC..... failure carries more drama than success and they like that too.

  • Still a mistery!!!!

  • @LEGIONARIO1970 whats a mistery? ?

  • pinches gringos pendejos se creen critobal colon ...

  • retard, they are not even americans...they are english....and no they do not think they are CC. That is the practice of the sience of archeology...dummy

  • poor bob...

  • aliens show the natives how to built move huge stones and carv so firmly so obvious c'mon now

  • lol. perhaps these people had ancient knowledge that has been forgotten over time.

  • Comment removed

  • @maximusTLP Or maybe they had some help from people called guardians of the stars. :) Ya know what I mean?

  • @maximusTLP ofc they did just like how everything we know now will eventually be forgotten/replaced

  • @maximusTLP a moron and his followers

  • se la pelaron y se la pelaran a los olmecas

  • "Silly gits can't float a stone"

  • i feel so sorry for these blokes cos they think the ancients were a bunch of primitive, savage human sacrifising canibals. they might have been canibals as lots of people today, they might have done human sacrificies as do some religions & cultures today but they were not savage or primitive. we will always ask how they did it. sumerians, egyptians, mayians, olmecs, incas & other great cultures & civilizations that will remain lost to us forever. so we are the primitive civilization.

  • I didn't hear one researcher use the term primitive or savage.

The ancient mesoamericans DID (not might have) commit ritual sacrifices, its recorded in their art. Admitting that doesn't demean them as savage.

I think we'll eventually figure out how it was done. We have the exact same brains as they did. If they could figure out how do to it, so can we. There's nothing mystical or essentially unknowable about ancient engineering.

  • were not primitive its just ere not skilled in there technology.

you can give some one paints but that dosent make them a great artist.

  • The lessons that modern man has yet to learn . . . just another mystery to keep people working and discovering.

  • I think the Brits, because they are skilled and educated in modern techniques, are trying to apply "European style" mechanics to an area where they are unfamiliar with how the natural world operates. I bet if the community from that fishing village were heading this project, they would've had an easier time because of their understanding of the region. There's more than one way to float a rock. Damn archaeologists need some cultural relativity training.

  • How about using some water to help create a friction for rubbing and loosing the surface...geese

  • dou mean for the carving of the head?

cuz i had that in mind, just throw some water on that

  • he didn't even know that he needs to wait for a while before trying to pull out the wood because he needs to let the earth and water compress in. This should be common knowledge to people who do these things. No wonder he didn't succeed. He has so little experience in doing work with the land. BBC has no one, so they sent him.

  • @shwwnn

such a stupid and dumb comment

  • The Olmecs: 1

    The Brits: 0

  • I Second That.

    The power of Nature prevails.

  • @alfredunhill Ancient astronauts 1 The Brits 0
