you forgot about the windows 95 and 98 registry error telling you that you uninstalled something and if you want to use it again to reinstall it and it still allowed you to use 95 and 98 but would always boot with that registry error. it would usually tell you what files are missing to the program that was uninstalled and usually always was the same files

don't forget the black screen of death, a.k.a "exception occurred" when getting an error during certain Wii Homebrew apps. and of course all game systems have a somewhat "ear rape" death screen that causes the game to make screeching or loud long beep sound when the game freezes or locks up (most notably GBA, Gamecube and Wii).

I've still got and play my old NES and I've never once seen a gray screen, only a blue screen including the flashing blue screen (and power button light) that appears when a game doesn't load properly. I'd also heard others mention a green screen, but I've never had that happen before either. Maybe it's blue or green depended on the color or contrast of the TV.
