Worked like a charm. My roomate had brought his tool boxes in from his work truck and gotten grease on the carpet. I had left it for about four days before trying anything, not wanting to make it worse. So I decided to try the WD40 and it really worked! I think now that Ive seen how well it worked I've got some other uses for it I want to try.
@NikeThe OK. Clearly you are an internet troll, I will satisfy your need to put people down with an obligatory and inflammatory comment...DUDE THINK BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING STUPID. I said my kids done it, it is an accident.
Now, the tone of your comment also suggests that I do not maintain the carpets, being so dirty and all; hey what am I doing here...CLEANING.
The carpet is clean.
Now, I know your obvious comment will be "F___ You" therefore I will respond with "You are not my type" XD
@NikeThe No Problems...It is amazing how the tone of something written can seem inflammatory. A few words can offend someone quite easily or even imply something, even though you did not mean it...
But hey, Sticks & Stones....
No harm done from this at all. Just take the time to read your comments before posting and think of repercussions. (Hence Think Before You Say Something Stupid)
Now as punishment...go clean your room and make sure the carpet is spotless!
I would love to say thanks a bunch ,, I had a bad, bad, old very old stain on my white carpet andit looked like black coffee, thanks to you its all gone, wd40 worked great ,I told my husband get me a can for my inside jobs
Rubbing or scrubbing your carpet is a BAD IDEA, aside from damaging the fibers and the “texture” of the carpet, you will probably just spread the stain around and or possible drive it deeper into the carpet fibers. BEYOND THAT...I would never recommend using WD-40 on your carpet, period! WD-40 is an oil and that oil residue will likely remain on your carpet and attract dirt from foot traffic...There are good dry cleaning solvents on the market that can better remove greasy/oily carpet stains.
The carpet is still doing well and I did remove the residue with the carpet cleaning spray.
I had tried more aggressive products like OX Cleaner, ect...WD-40 was my last resort.
I know that dabbing the carpet is the best method for cleaning carpets, and I would not recommend using WD-40 on stains larger than an Aussie 5c piece or US nickel.
The spot on the carpet was Blu Tac / Poster Putty
I just did a spot removal video with wd40 too! I was getting make up out of carpet. Check it out! I like your video...wish there were sound though. Good job!
Everything looks good...but you should NEVER scrub a stain/spot as you run a higher risk of spreading whatever it is your trying to get up. Spots/stains should always be BLOTTED when trying to remove. Good video though!
Generally only works on oil/grease spots. Make sure you rinse it with water very well as if you don't, in a week's time or so, the residue will catch and hold dust and dirt and you'll have a larger spot that you need to work on. Rinse and extract with water - you should be good to go.
Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to get rid of the same looking spot on my carpet and will definitely be trying this tomorrow morning :)

you would think that someone would vac their carpet before filming it and posting it on the internet.

@numerotrois3
Actually, I did vacuum...you generally don't wet carpet with existing dirt on the surface...
The offending piece of dirt probably came off my foot. We actually vacuum daily.
Apologies if the small piece of dirt offended you.
And, if you've nothing nice to say, say nothing at all....
Cheers from Australia.
