Brother had one come off at 60 mph, came off in a construction zone. Buzzed right by a group of workers. In your case, I used to own a tire shop, I'd recommend replacing every one of those studs.
They Did not tighten the lug nuts and that's what happens. Make sure the holes in the rim did not get damaged ware the studs go thru and look at studs also. Like you said you will have it checked out. Good Idea.
Just by looking at it.... you need 4 (possibly all 6 in the other 2 are loose) new studs and a new rim... The loose lugs caused the holes in the rim to elongate...
Jiffy Lube hires the biggest shit heads on the planet and I happened to know one of them awhile back and he said if the oil in the motor was still good they would'nt change it and still charge the cars owner for the work how fucked up is that shit.
If your dumb enough to go to a place where they work on your second biggest investment for a discounted price . You deserve everything you get . Take it to a real Mechanic/Technician to work on it otherwise GOOD LUCK TO YA...
probably dont. ive heard so many stories from morons at walmart and jiffy lube and near disasters and what not. mechanics get such a bad rap its not funny. im a technician, not a mechanic
im a technician and in the state of texas you must a have a liscense to cut someones hair but any moron can do your brakes which obviously is a critical to you stopping. im certified, so if you go to some HOJO shop and than complain about the work they do you get what you pay for. in my honest opinion you should find a shop that you can trust. cause believe me we may not like it when you shop around but your the customer!! we want your business!! and if it looks like we dont care than we
The "tech" probably got a very important text from his girlfriend telling him how horny she was and he spaced on the lugs. Or maybe he was out all night partying with his homies. Good thing i have my advanced certs. Then i can tell these clowns what to do before they do it.
I worked at J.L for ONE day. I was not going to work at the McDonalds of Autocare. When a company makes a business of working on people's vehicles they should be worried more about making sure their employees do the job correctly, instead of making sure they're fast as hell. I'd rather wait 20 minutes for a job done right, than 10 minutes for a piss-poor job. None of the training was spent stressing the importance of a job well done, it was all about time. Rushing a job can have bad consequences
This is exactly why I do ALL of my own auto work! I check everything that the shop touches after my yearly inspection. I do not trust any of the shops any where. I don't care of the guarantees that they offer. I feel your pain David!
WOW !!! Scary stuff to see, what the 'trusted professionals' allow to go on at their shops ! Makes one wonder sometimes if we'll have to ask them if they have security cameras in the garage area, to keep them accountable.
@BatmanProject777 This location actually does have cameras monitoring the work of their mechanics. The manager on duty told me she reviewed the video, and she said that she thinks the mechanic loosened the lug nuts on the wheel instead of tightening them. Indeed, scary stuff.
@davideckoff Its almost impossible to mistaken tightening and loosening of the lugnuts. When using a impact gun to gun them on you will feel the torque and also with a torque wrench (which i doubt they used). Im pretty sure they just forgot and let you roll out, which in case if you lost a wheel could have died or cause serious damage to your vehicle and others. I wouldn't have simply let them put lug nuts on and let them get away with it. This is serious stuff.
@windywindy Agreed, those impact guns only have one speed. FULL SPEED. I got a professional gun at the pawn shop and if you're not careful working on other things besides lugs, you can snap bolts right off. Manager is lying. She should have reviewed the video then asked the "mechanic" what the hell he was doing.
I hope the studs moving around in the wheel holes didn't damage your wheel. Studs are really hard metal and can tear up aluminum rims quickly (those look aluminum).
jiffy lube dont hire pros they hire people out of high school, thugish people. You have to go to school to learn the basics to do things right.

if that was a front wheel and you had to do an emergency stop the two are not enough to take the torque and most likely would have broken.

they only put them on 1-2 threads and put two of them all the way down but still loose, and your wheel is ruined due too the lug holes being ovled

from the condition of the lug holes, I'd say the other 4 were put on but not tightened down

This is why I (and all techs should) put the impact gun on low then check them with a turqe wrench once the wheel is on.

not to mention now your rim is destroyed, each tapered hole where the lug seats has been ruined
