In my opinion they are the next pink floyd of our generation.... for you pink floyd fans nobody will replace them but these guys are amazing.... look out. too much feeling in each tune, worldly, different, MMJ.

Great song and even better songwriter. Modest Mouse is not even in the same ballpark as MMJ. We will see who is still around in 20 years - as long as Jim doesn't fall any more stages :)
MMJ and MM have been around for about the same amount of time, both bands released 5+ albums to critical acclaim, and both seem to be getting progressively better. Jim writes beautiful songs, but they're true to classic rock aesthetics. MM have more modern influences (Pixies, Built to Spill) but took rock in a very unique and now frequently imitated direction. They've both made huge contributions to music and commenting on either's lasting quality seems uninformed to me

Modest Mouse? sorry, if you consider Isaac Brock's lyrical composing as something the complimented i'm going to have barf. How a one hit wonder band that pretty much has no substance and many songs sound like they were written after coming after an acid trip of some sort can be considered better that this is beyond me. I even had the occasion to see Modest Mouse live with a friend and they were horrendous, got booed off the stage. Awful,awful band.

lol i like some modest mouse songs but have you ever know someone who has tourettes? Isaac Brock sounds like he is ticking in alot of his songs and it gets kind of annoying..

Are you deaf? Listen to this man's voice. I mean, Modest Mouse is a great band, but no one has Jim Jame's voice.
And I'm pretty sure that it's agreed Conor Oberst is the best songwriter lyric wise.
