  • I've many times thought that this game would be good comedy movie of sorts if the role of Indy was acted by some actor. The rest could stay the same or use actors for every person in the game. Same VGA backgrounds could be used which is kind of unique approach. I suppose it would take one of those 'blue rooms' to record the actors. A decent 'fanmade' non-commercial comedy for youtube.

  • One of the best game of them all.. long live Indy!

  • great games for pc,great memories

  • Oh Indy... the hottest scholar ever!

  • The very first game I've ever played. More than 10 years later, there are few games that give me the same enjoyment or satisfaction from playing this.

  • Hmm this game influenced Todd Howard in making Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3 :D

  • @AliceBoxOfChocolates

    How so? :P

  • I like the first half but it gets depressing at the end

  • It's such a shame that the Steam release doesn't use this sound driver... this is much more pleasant than the ones they're using.

  • Thumbs up if you want this game remade by Telltale, you know the studio who made the new Jurassic Park and Back to the Future games.

  • WHAT A FANTASTIC GAME.....20 YEARS OLD AND SSSOOOOO NICE...BEAUTIFUL

  • they dont make them like this anymore

  • I just found my own old cd-copy of this game. Tried it on on a slow comp with W-XP... Didn't work... :(

  • @19putte92 On XP it won't run directly. You need either DOS or old Windows 95 or 98. On XP you have to use an emulator - either DOSBox or ScummVM

  • @mikosoft

Yea, i figured that out. Where can I get my hands on a emulator? I really love those Lucasstars games! And I don't know jack about those emulater-stuff...

  • @19putte92 type "scummvm" or "Dosbox" into google and you'll find it. There is a load of documentation too so you shouldn't get lost

  • @19putte92 try in this web clasicosbasicos

  • This game had EVERYTHING. Comedy, story, musical score, dialogue. Loved it when I was 10, and still love it now, but nothing can replace going through it for the first time. This is more of an experience than a game.

  • My computer would have games on it if they were made this way. PC games were revolutionary in the 90's. Too many titles to count. It was the same with the NES, SNES and Sega Genesis. Games were easier to create. You had so many options. I had so many favorites.

Currently, there are 2 on the Xbox 360 that I will play.

  • funniest shit evah

  • I love this game I haven't played it in years but I think I will tomorrow

  • I maybe from the new world but I still love this game.

  • Awesome, I feel like going through a real movie(I have the game but the one problem is I can't save it though I know how I should do it).

  • This game was so so bad ass. Probably my favorite adventure game next Monkey Island.

  • Animation by Anson Jew? Seriously? lol

  • The greatest game I've ever played :-) !

  • this and Prince of Persia II Shadow and the Flame are the best dedicated games ever created!

  • I have this game but Sophia and I separated and i'm in the tank level what do u do I'm lost

  • haha although there was no emotion during the fall, you have to respect they had different sprite animations for him falling and shit

  • I wonder if the PC version will run on today's vista...

  • @JakeConhale it will, using emulator called DOSBox (which was used to record this video)

  • @mikosoft

ScummVM should make it even easier to play and record nowadays.

Don't know about the talkie-version on cd though.

  • @libertydenied SCUMMVM was able to do the talkie version when I made this video so I guess it won't be any different these days. Might try it out one day but got lots of other things to do

  • muito boas lembranças desse joguinho!

  • Raped by a god damned book case.

  • i still have this! harhar, honestly i dont know it has survived all these years.

..you know, now that i think about it....Klaus Kerner is wesker hahahaha

  • The Lucasarts adventure games have been the only things I've really put effort into collecting. I've finally managed to run this and I was just playing it a minute ago. The smile on my face when I got it booted up can't be replicated by games of today.

  • Best game ever. My friend was so obsessed with it he invented a fake girlfriend called Sophia.

  • This + Day of the Tentacle = Awesome!!!

  • Best game ever created.

  • How many times can one dude fall down

  • wow!! that took me way back! :) many good memories playing this together with my older brother! i think i was to young then to get the whole storyline and all, but i've always loved the fist fight parts a lot :D marvelous game, thanks for posting! :)

  • They should have made a movie based on this back in the 90's. This game has a better plot than any of the movies, and would have the potential of being the best Indy film of them all. What a missed opportunity!

  • Kids today dont know what they are missing!

Its all Call of duty this and Fifa that but 20 years ago there really was only games like this around and it kept us enterained for ages!!!

I feel sorry for kids today i do! I really really do!!!

  • My childhood's back. THANK YOU!

  • I used to play this as a kid! But it would always glitch on me and I'd get pissed

  • like BROKEN SWORD a LEGEND in this AWESOME genre!

  • Playing the Steam version right now..voices and all.

  • best game ever, i played it with my inves 286 without soundblaster, only the internal speaker :(

anyway, with Monkey island, the funniest moments in front of a computer

  • @dam80n I did manage to complete this classic game before it stopped working on my XP computer!! :(

    Compatibility problems I guess!! :(

  • i done enough climbing for today.. 'climbing? you done more falling as i see'

  • Wow... wow.. wow... you made me so nostalgic... I like this game very much. I finished it several times and allways it was fun... Even today I consider it one of the best games ever :D (It's easy to make this judgement, since I didn't play any adventure in 7 or 8 years :D)

I remember that it came on several diskettes and it had 10 MB which was at that time (on my 386 25Mhz with 40 MB HDD) considered HUGE game. And that wasn't the voice enabled version.

  • Genious, just genious.

I used to play this in Brazil using a dictionary to figure out the subtitles. The feeling of getting anything done was remarkable.

Also loved Day of The Tentacle II !

  • Anyone else want this to be the next Indy movie?

  • I remember playing this when I was like 8 years old! I thought the graphics were great...haha.

Is it hard? I remember I would play it and make it to a certain room and then never know what to do to progress :-( Guess, I was a dumb kid.

  • This is Indiana Jones 4

  • Good lord it's amazing to look at how much games have all evolved now a days from this to all this other stuff Good lord.

  • indiana jones and the fate of atlantis will always be part 4 in the francise. not Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. They should have brought this story in live-action back in 1994.

  • remember playin this with my dad over 15 years ago. we never finished it than. when we got a pc we also bought the pc version of this but we never got it to work properly. for moths we tried everything to be able to play it but it just didn't start. till one day somehow we got it to play and we saw the title screen and everything. me and my dad looked at eachother in amazement and pure joy. i will never forget that day. now i'm 20 years old and i still miss playing old adventures with my dad.

  • i played this as a kid i wanna do it again omfg

  • They should make remake's of this one, and MM2; day of the tentacle like they did with monkey island.. Ow and the original Sam n Max too! Whack-a-Mole :D

  • Wish they'd make a newer version of this, but sticking to the point and click shceme, it just works, games like this alogn with jazz and OMF 2097 along with snes,n64 and all them good times!

  • This game may be cheezy, but I loved it.

  • I cant get this game to work! Keeps saying this system does not support fullscreen mode! Someone help me out this game is amazing!

  • " I don't think that will work "

  • Does the voice-enable version also have subtitles as well so you can understand what he's saying?

  • @darthfurious80 yes, you can have both voices and subtitles. I turned them off here so that the video feels more movie-like.

  • chosing between the voice and no voice game, I choose no voice. But yeah, awesome game!

  • I love this game! Although I know most of the LucasArts games like Monkey Isalnd or Sam & Max I never knew Indy 4 until I heard of it. It's a REALLY good game and I like that there are several ways to play it through. Now I'm using ScummVM for my PC and for my Nintendo DS and I really enjoy the good old games. I love the talkie-version of Indy 4. Indy's voice here is just great!

  • This is seriously one of the best games ever made. I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was very difficult for its time too. I remember I begged my dad to buy me the hint book, and back then, they just had questions, and the answers were hidden and you needed a red plastic film ("adventure window") in order to read it. Or you would call the hotline and pay for the hint. Those were some good times. Thank you so much for uploading this video, it's made my day!

  • i love this game xD

  • 1992 was a great year for PC gaming because you had Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow.

  • @pacman5698 You are so right! Fate Of Atlantis and King's Quest: Heir Today, Gone Tomrrow is the epitome of the 90's.

  • omg this is so awesome. i loved this game when i was younger. this one and secret of monkey island, sam & max, day of the tentacle... good old childhoof. :D

  • I loved playing this game ! ! ! ! I remember playing it, and it was so hard when I was young. I used to play that game Cycles also, which had the old school pirating decryptor disc, which they don't use anymore, which is dumb they don't because those were always hard to crack. Man. this game brings back memories.

  • ahhhh.... i miss lucas arts.... i always played those point and click games on my old pc ^^

  • no that actually is the right music for the intro

  • my eleventh floppy disk was broken. I`ve never finished this great game. It`s like fucking childhood trauma.

  • @mateusio Well, you CAN download the game through Steam! It's only 5 bucks!

  • It's a great game.

  • I loved this game so much!

  • in hindsight was good enough story for Indy 4.

  • you got the wrong music settings dude.

  • @FischKopfD I don't get your point

  • @FischKopfD it's the CD version, has "better" sound.

  • "He got away!"

"But we got his coat Marcus."

    LOL!

  • How do you get the voice acting? I can't get it.

  • @Bloxy123 It's a voice enabled version. Came out year later than the original

  • @Bloxy123 the version available at Steam has voice acting

  • Oof.

  • Comment removed

  • man this sure brings back soooo many childhood memories

  • Comment removed

  • The voice acting is lousy. Sure, they've got the right tone and accent, but it's so uninspired.

  • indiana also seems real clumsy in the intro

  • He's great.

  • This is the best Indiana Jones game and one of the greatest game ever! :)

  • damn, i remember this game. it's brilliant!

  • Love the way the music changes @ 1:27

  • Many years ago, that live cat scared me to death with the voices on.

It still does that. This is probably one of the best point and click games ever, the graphics, music, voices and story were all great.

  • I love that Steam put this game on Steam, but I wish it used the old SOUNDBLASTER music instead of the weird, electric piano thing it uses...

  • Man i got a smile on my face like a 10 year old child! Thanks for sharing!!

God so may memories !! :D I can't believe i remember every single thing like it was yesterday! :D

Thanks again man... All the best! :D

  • It was a impressionable age. =) Being kid playing those games you had to use youre brain to beat.

  • Thanks for uploading! This brings back memories when I was I kid.

Never finished the game though... :(

    I need Steam! lol

  • I got on Steam and got the Lucas Arts pack there now :) 8 Euros well spent!

  • I've never seen Indi fall so much.

  • I love listening to this at work.

  • You know, you can download this on Steam for ONLY 4.99 dollars!

  • D2D has it in a 4 game bundle for $9.95.

  • thanks for uploading... was one of my favourite games too when i was a kid...

I cant believe i actually remembered some of the dialogues after 13 years or so... weird =)

they made a remake of the old monkey island 1 also... anyone who havent seen it, check it out its pretty cool. would be cool to see a remake of this game as well

  • Maaan! watch this is a timetravel!!! I loved this game! so many hours on the fuckin caves! Thanx for sharing!

  • I can't believe I'm watching this.

    It is inexpressably nostalgic!

I remember when my father bought our first computer; a 3.1.

This and two other games came with it, as most games did when one bought computers back then, I think.

Anyway, I can't tell you how remarkable it is to watch this again!

I can't play it on any computer now, seeing as it is so old.

    Thanks!

  • I am most pleased by your reaction! I can't express the joy of seeing other people get so nostalgic watching this game. I'm glad I can bring back many memories for every one watching this counting myself in.

  • "inexpressably nostalgic" is exactly right

  • it's available on Steam!!

  • @parapluiesdechebourg

Yes you can, just get your old copy onto your harddrive and head over to ScummVM; it's a Virtual machine than replaces the .exe file (teh executable that is intended to work with good old DOS) and let's you play on Windows XP, Vista, 7, just like in the old days

  • @parapluiesdechebourg Yes you can play it! Download SCUMMVM that makes you play the lucasart's games on moderns computers.

  • @parapluiesdechebourg Yes you can play it on modern systems with one of two programs: DosBox, or ScummVM. Do a google and you'll see..

  • @parapluiesdechebourg You have to install SCUMMVM to be able to hold games like this, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle on a Windows machine ;)

  • I guess it's mayonnaise, but it looks like used motor oil.

  • i hate sounding like a grumpy old man, but they sure don't make em' like this anymore. :)

  • They should've use this story for the 4th movie instead of the freakin' cristal skuls

  • OMG I was just thinking of that, SERIOUSLY!

xD It was so great, I'm sure everyone who played the game would've loved the movie even more.

  • this game is such a classic. it still runs on my 2006 laptop.

so much better than the newer game on the wii

  • When I played this game, there was no spoken dialouge!

  • how can i run this on vista/windows 7??

  • Same as I did - use DOSBox for Windows

  • kthxbai

  • Alright Jones, how we gotta the statue all this junk?

  • KITTY!!!!! [^ ^]

  • love this game

it comes with indiana jones and the staff of kings for wii as a bonus thing

  • This looks great im downloading off steam right now

  • Agreed. An awesome game with great puzzles and gameplay.

I wonder if "modern" gamers have the patience for games like these now. I hope so, I could certainly use more of these kind of games.

  • Comment removed

  • One of the most underrated games ever. Why doesnt Lucasarts or Sierra make these kind of games anymore?

  • They're gonna re-release this one.

  • I saw it on steam... still have the original CD here though :p

  • debieron hacer indy4 de este juego. q tontera.

  • Man Indy sure has a inhumanly strong back to be able to get up after falling four times already!

  • And after getting beaten up by Biff

  • this game is awesome! i've played it so much as a young kid :(

  • me too. Everytime i played it, i enetered a realm of mystery and wonder. It was so amazing. I think in many ways it has shaped my existence. I feel I must enter this mystical world again.

  • The story is mutch better, then Crystal skull...

  • thanks for this...this is one of the best games i ever played !!

  • loool wo ist fritz :D

  • yeah! talk about nostalgia!!

  • AWESOME! one of the best games ever!

  • i agree ^^

  • Nostalgia trip!!! I LOVE this game so much!!! listening to that music brings back all the memories of playing this game. I remember spending hours searching around Barnett college, I can`t even remember wat I was searching 4, but the solution turned out to be real obvious lol

  • Sigh...finished this game in all possible way... was so young back then...sigh :)

  • my best game of all time

  • five stars! voted only by people who played it and were willing to search for it 17 years later, completely fair in my books... in all seriousness definatley deserves five stars

  • beautiful!!!

  • Awesome right! I hope it has voices on the Wii version. Oh, and it will be on the Wii only. I know, the DS seems perfect.

  • Just confirmed this will be an unlockable game in the new Staff of Kings game thats out in spring so we could see FoA on the Wii & DS for real.

  • they should have made the movie based on this game

  • @Veke99 They did in an alternate universe!

If only they did in ours also :D

Thank you George Lucas, Mr. Spielberg, Harrison Ford and Lucas Arts!

  • Oh no!!!!!! the original music!!!!my old Pc 486 whit dos or my pentium 1 whit windows 95 produced the music whit the ram!!!!!!beautiful!

  • My favorite game ever along with UFO enemy unknown...

  • He doesn't take things seriously..Indiana JOnes Does he?

  • He's a movie character, he doesn't have to :-D

  • poor indy! are you gonan post the whole walkthrough?

  • Oh yes, that's quite a Shakespearean question ... I don't really know. I think I have to find one day to do a longrun, record it, and put it up here. But somehow I still havent found that day :-D Anyway, I've seen someone do a talkie longrun, try searching for it.

  • i know, but it's all text, i actually wanna hear the voices, lol

  • -no emotion- oof LOL i love these old ass games.

  • This and Day of the Tentacle... man... good times.

  • I remember sittin up for what seemed like hours playing This, Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2 on the old AMIGA 500 lol. Good times. Back when games took brain and smarts, not how fast you can react and shoot at people which only takes pointless commitment and it sucks the life out of people

  • i love this game but i never finished it. I always got stuck in the same spot when I was younger lol

  • I remember when i was a kid loving all these games, so much better then the games that r out these days, i just bought an old computer 2 play them all on only problem is cant find the disks 4 any of them. any1 willing to sell some old LucasArts games?

  • yer i agree, games like kings quests and this really captured your immagination - nowadays games are so realistic you dont have to think or have any immagination

  • I'm so freakin happy right now I got this working on my Nintendo DS with full speech and such...

  • Thanks for sharing this :)

My twin sis and I were avid adventure game nerds growing up, its nice to know that we weren't alone all those weekends and after homework playing this game.

  • I love this game! The story, graphics, music and sounds are all awesome!

  • One of my best memories of childhood is staying up all night playing this game with my dad and brother.

No discussion of this game is complete without mentioning the score, some of the best music ever written for a game. Both the original music and the stuff that works in the Indiana Jones theme are fantastic.

I could've done without the voices, though. Nothing against the voice actors, but anybody other than Harrison Ford as Indy doesn't work.

  • I absolutely agree on the music. I played it with a SB clone (Yamaha YMF) with the famous OPL3 chip onboard. Although pretty stupid the orchestration and blending of music (kudos to developers of iMUSE) was so good that it overcame any shortcomings on the sound quality side. I can still recall the witty music in New York, jungle noise sin Tikal, sweet greek tunes in Crete or graduating dark dramatic music as you approached the Colossus. And for me also the voices work as an added dimension.

  • I've said this before and I'll say it again: The only bad thing about this game was the fact that Fate of Atlantis wasn't also a movie.

  • When did this game get speech? All I can remember is reading the text of what everybody said

  • The next year after the original unvoiced release.
