  • neither was suicide dumbass

  • i don't like country anymore, no one like keith whitley anymore rather listen to classic rock or classic country. definitely gone too soon. :(

  • @tylerrayfilbert Me too. I feel exactly the same way.

  • Great stuff

  • suicide ON BOTH ACCOUNTS

  • irony....

  • Yeah, and you 100% more stupid....aaaahahahaha. it must be hard living without a brain....dummy

  • @koletski21 What an ignorant ugly thing you must be. your dumb ass wouldn't know a hillbilly if one farted in your face. Get a life you stupid uneducated idiot !

  • @mxc2sls4549 koletski21stupidfuckdumbshit is a goddamn dumbfuck. Why else listen to the great Keith Whitley and say shit like that? Wrong place, wrong time. Carry on music lovers. We all know if koletski21fucktard came around some good-time, music lovin "hillbillies" in real time, koletski21 would not be welcome. People like that don't last very long around folks I know. No name coward would be eatin' his own farts behind the saloon, missin' out on some good times and great music.

  • Why oh why don't we have music like this now?

    RIP Hank & Keith!

  • Wanna Bet.?

  • Damn how ironic

  • im sad that this song is lying... whos with me

  • He was a Hank Sr just a little later on Great singer ! missed alot

  • i bet he never thought he would of done what hank did whene he sang this song.

  • He followed his footsteps.

  • Can i get this song on CD? I like the guitar on it. Keith Whitley was the best. He could do rockers like this, great ballads ,and jazzy type ones like It Aint Nothin and I wonder do you think of me.

  • does keiths son sing?

  • @redrock717 Yes, he does. He was with a band last year for a short while called the Black Saddles, and they did record some songs, but nothing was legitimately released. Last month, he went into the recording studio with his mom's producer to record some things on his own. It'll be interesting to see what happens with that. He has a sound that's closer to Jason Aldean, but he's definitely country. Thanks for stopping by.

  • @redrock717 yes he does his name is Jesse Keith Whitley he has a channel on here

  • @jusalilkuntry1981 ....It's Jackie I read.

  • Keith is the reason I started listening to Country music, my favorite to this day.

  • When a fire burns that hot it don't last long.

  • I have never heard this before and I'm a country boy but love it!!!very nice! Keith and Hank got to love them fellers!

  • well you did die .. rip

  • You have to be kidding me, no comments really! I'm ashamed to say I've never heard this song. If it really is Keith Whitley who is singing anyways. Love both guys, but what irony! And may I say a freakin' shame! God Bless em' both!!!

  • Bless his heart, he did it all...including die. Sad for all of us that such an amazing talent left us so early in his life.

  • Man I miss Keith! Im 38, and hated him when he was alive cuz he was married to Lorrie and I wasnt! LOL- ok, so I didnt hate him, he was one of my all time favorites and man his music still brings back the memories! Thanks to whoever keeps posting all these! I love em.

  • irony

  • R.I.P Keith maybe one day ill get the honor to see you and hank if they let me in.

  • You are hearing the words of a tortured soul.

  • he did not do everything hank did, he may have tried to act like him but no man ever to live could accomplish what old hank did, not a chance

  • Hank Sr. is the top dog of country, hes the legend that other legends sing about.

  • awesome song by the Colonel KW he was awesome went and seen his brother Dwight who is also a great singer

  • well looks like old keith did that too... like i got allot of room to say that, im another looser that modelled my life after hank williams , he's my role model. RIP both hank and keith , you are both missed.

  • where did you find this song i love it and i can't find it anywhere

  • i love keith whitley, is was the best, sure miss him.. hope someone can upload my old friend, thats my most fave by him.. a good song, as all of his are

  • kieth if he would of lived he would of been in the same line as the greats but for his shut down carreer damn theis fella could sing them sad songs <<<rip kieth have a drink on me lol

  • "I learned to drink, play guitar, and read ... in that order"

    Hank Sr.

    Good video

  • Good song/video! Thank you.

  • he just apoted me,hank jr,and im 37 plz send me to him

  • call some body

  • What?

  • Apparently, the meaning of the song was lost on you. Keith grew up listening to Hank, Sr. and was an idol of his. He meant to cast no dispersion when he did this song. On the contrary, his intent was to pay tribute. Sorry you didn't understand that, and sorry that you are in the minority when it comes to how you regard the memory and the great talent of Keith Whitley.

  • Agreed

  • Hey It s me Starr. OK i was an ass Will you please forgive me. How the hell could anyone misinterpent this song.? Jesse Keith went on the road when he was 15 and grew up fast and hard. Started drinking and trying to get by. So at the time of this song, he had done everything that Hank had done but die. Damn Get it? It s not like when Larry Gatlin sang Johnny Cash is Dead and His House Burned Down. That was a slam. Johnny fired him once. Payback. Keith was respectful He knew no other way.

  • Apology accepted. And I think you meant to say JACKIE Keith, not JESSE Keith. Jackie's the dad, Jesse's the son. CMT screwed that one up big-time on his bio. Jackie Keith, born in '54, Jesse Keith, born in '87. But, yeah, you get it. That's what it's about.

  • I know better than to doubt you. A song I had forgotten about was Homecoming 63. My son gave me KW disc last week and it was on it. Great production on this song. Horn section was great. Complimented Keith well. And " I Wonder Do You Think of Me." Beautiful. Just asking. Have you considered an online petition for people to sign? May help. I ve gone back and looked at how many views KW gets. Just from 8 or 9 that you, ve posted they have been veiwed 792,231 this. Just a thought.

  • There's been a link to Bonnie Hill's petition on my channel for the last 2 years. Close to 3,000 ppl have signed it, including some ppl you might know.

  • Thanks I will certainly link to it and sign. Did the Judge in Sandy Hook rule on an injuction to prevent the Labor Day Festival? And why? Curious.

  • No, it was nothing like that. But I do believe that he had a hand in assigning someone new to the position of director of the Laurel Gorge Heritage Center. The Labor Day festival will still go on, but the name will be changed to the Keith Whitley Festival, & the KWA will have a major role in it.

  • This song give me the "Chills". Still remember when Keith died. He had the voice so many wish they had. he was awesome but it got'em!

  • I've long been a fan of Kieth and of the great one Hank SR. this song still gives me chills, wanting to understand leads down a very dark road but without the dark the light wouldn't seem so bright. Hope tickets aren't too high in heaven! I'll hang around a bit and see if i can save up just in case ;)

  • I remember when Keith died. I was sixteen and had just bought his tape. I loved it. I wanted to play i never go around mirrors and it's sad to see a talent like keith leave us so soon. Especially since i am now older than he was when he passed. GOD bless u KEITH WHITLEY!!!!!!

  • And 20 years ago today Keith achieved this act of Hank as well. It's hard to believe that one of the greatest voices ever recorded has been silenced for 20 years. I was a 21 year old young man and I'll never forget where I was when I heard he was gone. I wept. As a young man, he was one of my very favorites. Too sad... Too young... Too tragic...

  • Bad Typing Skills,Habit etc... I Did It In School Too When I Would Write Something.I'm Bad About It.IFailed Typing.I Redneck Type .I Couldn't Do It All Fancy Like They Tried To Teach Me.I Typed My Way.Then I Was Typing Faster That Made The Teacher Mad I Said Well, I'm Typing Ain't I!! I Will Try And Slow Down.

  • Thanks For Posting This Song Video. I Have Always Wanted To Hear It After I Heard Joe Galante Mention It On "The Life And Times Of Keith Whitley" On Tnn. I Had Never Heard It, Or Heard Of It. Keith Whitley Made Me Want To Listen To Country Music. He Was The Real Deal,Not A Phony Carbon Copy !!The Lyrics Speak For Them Selves.Sad But True.Keith Whitley Did Die May 9,1989. I Will Never Forget It.

  • the one thing I love is to hear keith whitley's voice in a song I never heard before. Ur the best now and forever

  • What a talent, and went to soon. What a voice. love all his tunes.

  • RIP Hank and Keith love your music.

  • I guess he did every thing Hank did

  • @christofersk8s I feel bad for laughing at that.

  • This is real Pretty,Love Keith Whitley's Music Too.

  • That nice

But lreally love Johnny cash he`sthe best.

  • anybody notice just about every pic hank was in he had 2 or 3 women around him the original "Player" is him lol

  • We all think Hank's music is real hard core country. Truth is back then it was cutting edge, early rock. The man was great and so was Keith.

  • keith was great, but hank invented the music keith was great at! there's simply no comparison, folks.

  • Hey y'all, how old was Hank when he died...I'm old but when I was young, I'd hang at Hank's house with his widow Audrey, put his boots on, play that old Martin that Neil Young has now...and my buddy Dallas just wrote a song, Everybody wants to wail the blues but no-one wants to cry, everybody wants to be Hank, but no-one wants to die...It ain't about age...it's about being real...3 chords and the truth...

  • thats so cool, i envy you

  • Hank was 29 years old when he died.

    RIP, Hank & Keith

  • beautiful clip, and thanks for sharing

  • ironic!

  • yes it is, hank was a legend as was is keith

  • i know the meaning of the song, as my post stated a young artist shouldn't sing it that is the point

  • How can you record a song like this when you are still young. This song should be recorded by someone like George Jones or something you know someone who lived. Keith is a good artist but i just don't understand its like he's bragging but then he died young still

  • It's quite simple, really. There are those in Nashville who are under some sort of notion that in order to succeed in country music you have to do everything Hank did but die. That's exactly what this song is about.

  • Man... How ironic is that song?

  • beyond ironic

  • my thoughts exactly.

  • This song really showcases Keith's amazing voice. It's a beautiful country song.

  • He did that too...how blue am I?

    Joe

  • I Like Cheese!

  • So sad these these two great singers's lives ended so soon and tragic. Good song, though.

5*****'s Thank you J.T. for sending. I've not heard this one before. Shirley

  • I remember the day he died. It just doesn`t

seem like it has been that long. A great loss.

    5***** song.

  • He sure knew how to pick 'em, didn't he? Thanks so much for stopping by!

  • Haven't heard any new music from keith...What's he up to??

  • He died on May 9, 1989.

  • it is too bad he didn't take etter control of his life.who knows what he might be doing today and what direction his music might have gone in.

  • Lord knows he didn't get much support from his wife!

  • Amazing.

I don't know why I've never heard this song.

Seems the record companies don't want to put it on any Keith Whitley compilation CDs!

  • One word: Ironic. ok, one more word: Brilliant.

  • Good pics of Hank & Great singing by keith. Thankyou for this video. You Tube Rocks!

  • You're so welcome. Glad you enjoyed it! I don't know if you've been by my channel today, but I've given my channel up to Keith's brother Dwight for his 62nd birthday today. I think I'll leave it like that for a couple days, until the next big birthday (Roger Taylor from Queen--he turns 59 on the 26th). (LOL)

  • When did he record this?

  • I'm not sure when he recorded this. See, he was recording an album after "L. A. To Miami," and he wasn't pleased with the direction it was going in. So he scrapped the project and brought Garth Fundis in and fought to get co-producer status on the new project which was to become the "DCYE" album. So it may have been during this time inbetween "LA2M" and "DCYE." I'm just guessing, but it stands to reason.

  • wow wat a great song!!! i want that on a cd.. cant find it anywhere... a classic for sure.. really gets to the soul on that one...

  • OMG - great song! Thanks so much for posting this awesome classic country song!!!!!

  • You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Did you hear the other version yet I have up?

  • Great song Sharon! Love the lyrics :)

thanks for sharing. I'm really beginning to like his music =)

  • Am I corrupting you, Elin? (LOL) When I posted this on my first account, so many people commented on how ironic the lyrics were, and how it should be known now as "I've Done Everything Hank Did, INCLUDING Die."

  • I think you are... :)

yeah that would be a more suitable title! haha
