  • @Zzztubazzz yes they can as clearly shown you muppet and they had government funding so no laws were brocken an if they was government funded it so nufon gon be done, silly face

  • can somebody explain me how that vehicle still sticks to the ground at such a speed?

  • bullshit they can not go more the 220 mph So if you don't know anything shut the fuck up Mother Fucker

  • What would happen if this hit you? Would you explode?

  • Very fast, but I bet it doesn't have a CD player

  • how do you turn? fuck it!

  • that's more like a land-plane than a car.. nice mirage btw

  • Awesome. It looks so smooth, I bet it isn't though! I can't wait to see the Bloodhound do a run or two. Might get one if it's any good, I could get to my best mate's house, 200 miles away, in 12 minutes! :)

  • So whats the mpg for that then.

  • @RhysDreamsEvil 0.04mpg.

  • i thought this was an airplane from 0:14-0:25

  • @tehpizzaguy1 me too =|

  • thankfully no one besides me mentioned the budwieser rocket

  • Nice!! It really looked like it was airborne

  • @PrivateCustard While there has to be moisture for a cone to form around the craft, the sound when the craft breaks the speed of sound doesn't change. That sound is simply the craft passing through its own soundwaves as he makes them as the pressure builds up.

  • chuck norris is faster

  • nooo! the NASA space shuttle landed too soon! lol

  • man i wish my sperm swim that fast!!!!!

  • Tremors 4??

  • @BibiiiAidaaj567 That's because you type like an idiot.

  • HOLY SHIT 1,228 KM/H LOL

  • how fast is 763.035mph ? Cause i don't know the british counting system

  • @MultiKrillz it's simply fast.........

  • Wait, wheres the sonic boom, do only air vehicles get the sonic boom around the fuselage?

  • @yomamasapeach You mean the vapour cone, known as the Prandtl-Glauert singularity. It's due to moisture in the air turning into a vapour due to the pressure change around the aircraft. There's not really enough moisture at the Black Rock desert.

  • @PrivateCustard um no, we want to know why we dont hear the BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM from the sound barrier being broken.

  • @nicky89107 Because the video has no sound..?

  • @yomamasapeach The boom was heard. Watch the other video.

  • @yomamasapeach no they heard the sonic boom. The sonic boom has nothing to do w/ the Prandtl-Glauert singularity. It has to do w/ breaking the sound barrier where the pressure of the air builts up in front and finally (at greater than sound velocity) cannot keep up w/ the speed of the vehicle. Then the 'breaking' occurs. And yes, the engineers watching it there heard the sound clearly.

  • @mindsoulbody yah, I was just wondering

  • @yomamasapeach you do not have to be in the air to create a sonic boom, that is caused by the movement of the air around you regardlesss of whether you are on the ground or not.

  • @alcosher but will the condensation occur around the fuselage of the thrust ssc in which there is that cone of pressurized air?

  • nice sound!

  • you should insert the JAWS theme from 0:00 to 0:20

  • That Fatamorgana Makes me Think That is a Flying Big Bullet

  • This is not a car....this is a car that uses jet engine and jet engine is what propells the car

  • @7150285 So it's a car...

  • @pegleg1992 a car thats doesn't use "wheel" power

  • @7150285 An automobile, motor car or car is a wheeled motor vehicle which carries its own engine or motor.

Thrust SSC has four wheels, and it carries two Rolls-Royce turbofans to give it power. It is, by all definitions, a car.

  • @pegleg1992 Im just basically saying that the power source isn't from the wheel but from the jet engine instead...

  • @7150285 That is correct.

  • @pegleg1992 do you know if the JCB Dieselmax is powered by the wheels or not?

  • @7150285 It is powered by two twin turbo diesel engines, which rotate the wheels.

  • @7150285 which car uses "wheel" power the cars i know about its from internal combustion engines

  • NO SOUND

  • Comment removed

  • i think most cops would just say: "fuck it"

  • how cool is this ,,,, thats proper quick and you need balls of steel drive this,,,whens the new car coming out ,,it supposed to hit 1000mph holy shit,, i bet they can do it ,,,

  • so this travels as fast as a glock18 bullet?

  • its a fukin space shuttle with wheels

  • slowmotion pls ! damn its still faster then my golf III !!!

  • type in bloodhound vs euro fighter

  • is this goku?

  • cool car

  • Remember people - this fantastic achievment was and is BRITISH!

  • @Factnotfictionpeople the Brits may have the fastest vehicle on land but the AMERICANS have the 3 fastest vehicles ever produced, 1st- Apollo Saturn V rocket.. 2nd- X-15.... 3rd- SR71 blackbird...... suck on that....

  • @Maximussy666 Got to hand it to the Americans, noone comes close in terms of air superiority.

  • @Maximussy666 Whats gone wrong here for you to be saying that on a video linked to the ssc? Im not sure this is trying to deny America of its achievements in space travel/speed and air speed records, but in the same light that doesnt mean you can try to deminish Britains achievement of fastest land speed record, both nations achieve great things and we are allies so be proud of all the landmarks our countries are setting. Peace!

  • Never late for work ever again! :D

  • lol imagen how many miles to the gallon it gets FAIL

  • @Ix12eAPeRzZxI : Thankyou for enlightening me, I did not know that this vehicle was designed for economic travel, compared to the Prius this is a horrible failure, I am ashamed to be British knowing that we have failed in our goal on this occasion in such an epic manner. I sincerely apologise for our utter, utter incompetence.

  • just take the wings off of a 757 and some huge tires. Im pretty sure you would get the same results

  • @Nismopower93

But if you take the wings off the engines will no longer be there :P

  • when you run out of gas while in the air, i wonder what's gonna happen?

  • @MegaXxx69xxx nothing will happen its a CAR not a plane, it doesn't fly

  • now just give it spinners and some hydraulics. o yeah and a fluorescent color paint job.

  • Chuck Norris called. He wants his tricycle back!!! LOL

  • @RamboLambo670

Chuck Norris Jokes.... Out of style... Il be laughing when he has passed on and you see how much he ISN'T a god.... later

  • @RamboLambo670 WRONG it has 4wheels all fast cars must have 4wheels a trike has 3 bad joke.

  • @HeLpErNaThAn Although the Thrust ssc has 4 wheels, the rear wheels were very close to each other (like 2 inches apart) and means that in essence, it was a trike, in the same way that a Dodge Tomahawk (look it up) is considered a motorcycle, although it technically has four wheels and should be a quad bike.

  • that is one-fuck-ing cool video

  • I may let some of you guys come to Coventry to see it if you stop bullshitting about it. One guy said it was fake lol

  • for a sec i thgought the road runner wuz real

  • Key correction. Qinetiq did not exist at the time this car was

developed. The development was by the Thrust SSC team, led by Richard

Nobel, themselves. Some assistance was given by DERA, part of the UK

Ministry of Defence, and Andy Green was working for them at the time.

Much later DERA spit, into the private company Qinetiq and DSTL, which

is still part of the MOD.

  • Amazing, this actually visualizes how fast sound goes.

  • @NLhardcorebobNL Cool comment... I never thought about that

  • This is what Chuck Norris drives to work

  • @zhmapper no, he walks. it's much quicker that way

  • no manches que cabron esta este wey

  • cops pulls you over,"sir do you have any idea how fast you were going?", andy answers, "763 MILES PER HOUR!!!"

  • my car goes 2x faster. the flyby you see the dust twice big as dis one, but you don't see the vehicle just the big ass dust behind it =)

  • Its really cool because...at first...it looks like a funnel of dust. but when you can finally see the Thrust SSC...the mirage makes it look like a missle flying low over the sand

  • i dont know anything about the Thrust, i only know i would like to have one, that way i can get around faster, and impress the women, i would be swarmed with hot women wanting my rocket.

  • WTF IT'S NOT EVEN ON THE GROUND!!!!

AND AT THE END IT'S GLIDING ON TOP OF WATER!!!!

    jk

  • I wanna see what happens when there is a ramp introduced to this rocket with wheels.

  • lol epic i can walk in that speed...

  • he wasnt the first man to break the sound barrier he was the first to do it on land

  • @Gmclear321 um no, jeremy clarkson was the first when he did it in the mclaren F1 u stupid fuck. do ur homework.

  • @Kraig00 what are you talkin bout how could jeremy clarson break the sound barrier in a mclaren f1 -.- it can do 258 mph top no where near the sound barrier so you do your home work and the first man to brake it did it un a rocket prepled plane RETARD !!!!!!!! HAHAHA PWND

  • @Gmclear321

Lmao, I don't know whats more stupid. The fact that you think a McLaren F1 can even do 258 mph or the fact that you thought I was being serious... "pwned"

  • @Kraig00

    Lol wtf?

A v12 vehicle breaking the sound barrier??

    Get off the crack!!

You have to be going over 750mph to break through the sound barrier, not 240mph.....

    Someone dropped out of school...

  • @RunLaMigra

Someone dropped out of school? And the McLarrens top speed is 242mph, not 240mph. oh, and the speed of sound is 768mph not 750... someone dropped out of school?

  • got dnm it is fast!

  • وااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااااو

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN

  • that is exactly a mirage, maybe ive been too long in the desert tho,, quality x

  • Looks like my FORD suv going down the interstate !!!!!!

  • irish potatoes

  • It dosen't fly actually !

    The light refracts

  • that isn't a proper mirage

  • "Hey, whats tha... KAZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

  • man, thats cool!

  • one of these days i wanna have the chance to do that.

  • WHOA!, try doing that on a rush hour. Man, ppl are gonna be pissed lol

  • meehi am wearing red undies lol don't ask meh why i am telling you this

  • if i saw that i would be like wtf BOOOOOOM

  • Yea.. I knew it after I commented on this~ LoL

  • ¨that was just dust!

  • Imagine trying to get that home from the pub ha ha

  • @snell196888 Some people will die lols.

  • That craft got as fast as some slow guns fire shoot a bullet. lol

How far did the Thrust SSC go (in distance)?

I'm trying to figure whether it went further faster then a bullet can.

  • dommage qu'on ait pas le son .... a cette vitesse ca doit faire un drole de bruit ....!

  • Andy green + 1,200 KMH = Balls of titanium with multiple layers of kevlar weaved through them!!!!!! AWESOME!!!

  • Yup, faster than the speed of sound! So fast it makes no noise!

  • @taofledermaus actually noise is made, and a lot of it, but anyone directly infront of any noise the vehicle is making wouldnt hear it

  • @celciuszero hes just joking around. he said that cuz theres no sound on the video lol

  • wow i wonder if u could hang a bike attavched to a rope 200m behind it and try to ride...

  • i would like to see you try:D

  • give it to the stig....

  • lol quality

  • lol

  • that would blow his helmet off!

  • @IconicFigure21 Cant anymore :(

  • To cbennett5664: This car was developed at Qinetiq, local to me, and they put an ejector seat in it.

What use it will be for the Bloodhound SSC is anybody's guess.

Not a lot in my estimation.

  • Thrust didn't have an ejector seat. They considered the risks of an automated system too high........and there was a big chance he'd be the wrong way up in an accident, rendering ejection useless.

The seat in Thrust is moulded and fixed in place. The six point harnesses are very wide to increase support.

  • They had parts of an ejection seat (the rockets) mounted in the nose, aiming upwards. In case the nose had started to rise, the onboard computer would have fired them to smash the nose back down.

  • @PrivateCustard But it did have parts of a Bang Seat in it. There was a battery of the rockets from Ejector Seats pointing upwards under a blow-off panel in front of the cockpit. The idea was to fire them to get the nose down if it began to lift. In the end it was the tail that they had problems keeping down.

  • i heard the rims were spinners and they didnt stop spinning for 2 months after this run!

  • l'm just popping to the shops love to get a loaf of bread back in a mo.

  • gay! try a V8 ya fag!

this is NOT a comment on the vid BUT a reply to a supa homo

  • i wanna it mom! :O

  • the vehicle did actually screw up on the first few tries

  • the stig should take it on the top gear track.

  • ITS A SANDSHARK :P

  • what if he crashed

  • then he would die.

  • then he whuld been realy fucked upp :P

  • then hes gonna be 1000 pieces... :P

  • i have seen the whole video and the video it well worth the watch and yes you hear the boom

  • where's the boom?

  • This clip doesn't have sound.

  • I know! Where would you put the shopping? lol

  • It was built to break a record........what the hell else do you want it to do.

  • @PrivateCustard shoot flames and make ice tea while doing would algebra home work and mabye teach u how to speack japinease while letting u take a shower in it? :D

  • @PrivateCustard

    Drive to the grocery store!

  • @PrivateCustard

    Make a Slushee..

  • lol are you for real?

  • yh it was built to brake te sound barrier and they managed it

  • Moron

  • dyu not think it would b a bit hard 2 park if u went 2 ur local supermarket?

  • yeah lol

  • S M O K E N ! ! !

  • That is an excellent mirage!

  • lol jump off and cliff and itll just fly lol.

  • i wonder what would happen if that thing hit a small bump.......LIFT OFF

  • hahaha ye man

  • Looks like a missile is cruising....I wonder how the surface is so flat....

  • Thrust SSC set the record on the Black Rock Desert, a dry lake bed in Nevada. Its a remnant of a pre-historic lake which name escapes me right now.

  • wdhiii... The name is Lake Lahontan. I'm curious which is better for these runs though.. Black Rock or Bonneville?

  • Wow, crazy stuff, thanks for uploading this.

  • its the bat mobile!!!! lol

  • i thought the sound barrier was around 700mph? i didn't see no sonic boom :P (obviously i may not be correct, anyone else know?) :D

  • at 59 degrees F it is 761 mph

  • Is this powered by Rolls Royce engines? RR makes a great product.

  • eita ta pohaa veii ta pohaa veiii se é lokoo eimm

  • speedy gonzalez...hahahaXD!

  • HAHHAH word

  • wonder how much a cover note is for that?!

  • You want to make history? Easy to beat this thing. Make a steady frame, put a space shuttle booster rocket on it and ignite the baby! 2 things stopping you: fear and common sense.

  • and the fact that this was 7mph from taking off, and an SRB would make it tak eoff, and no "steady frame" the size of a car would be able to take the accel, and it would just buckle, or break in half

  • ...what?

  • was a reply to this guy saying this : "You want to make history? Easy to beat this thing. Make a steady frame, put a space shuttle booster rocket on it and ignite the baby! 2 things stopping you: fear and common sense."
