Dude... I'm in tears... I was there... silicon valley CA. Worked at Zilog for 8 years during this period when apple first came out and obsoleted everything...Zilog had a minisystem that came in 3 parts- cpu chassis, monitor and dot matrix printer.Z80 cpu, 16K memory (board) 2 -8" shugart floppies and Caleus or Pertech 10 MB hard drive. What a beast. combined weigh of 100's of lbs. Monochrome graphics adapter. if the hard drive crashed you ran.... GOod job luvd it and spagetti westerns to...

The first console computer was Magnavox Oddysay, from 1958, which had a very simple pong game.

(Rendered in 2-bit gtaphics i think, but used VERY large blocks as pixels that had thick borders in between, used its own screen, but was so simple it didn't even have a score system, load screen or main menu)

Anyway the IBM PC used a 24-function keyboard.

I actually listened to it after your comment and didn't hear much similarity I assume you are talking about the Metallica song. The Ecstasy of gold is from the famous spaghetti western the good the bad and the ugly, the version in this video is taken from a remix CD of Ennio Morricone's (the composer) more prominent works. He's up there with Williams or Goldberg in my opinion and you should check him out, he has been working with Tarrantino recently..

Agreed. . . Aside from just a rough outline of computer history I wanted to show how far computers have come over the years, I find it amazing. Back in the 60's Gordon Moore said that computing power (or the # of transistors in a circuit) would just about double every 2 years, and he was just about right (pause at the graph at 1:52 )
