  • NO NO NO NO NO NO NONOONONONNONONOONONOON DON'T LEAVEEEEEE WTF TANNHAUSER UGH

  • The "Wagner Soprano" is a separate entity in the world of the classic/opera singers. They are a reason of their own. Special voice which afficionado' s immediately recognise as the "Wagner" - a sound that differs so much from the regular classic soprano's. It' s a voice that must contain power, reach, dramatism etc. In the world of opera they are a class of its own.

  • most beautiful woman in the world right here. This is healthy fullness in form. sad thing is, most my generation would call her fat and drool over twiggy women like Natalie Portman!

  • Don't like her costume-but atleast they are not makin love in a penthouse ala Chereau!!

  • Muy bueno, pero yo no lo hubiera cortado justo antes del final.

  • @gaucho4004 Pues nada, su Youtube te permite más de 10 minutos y medio, ¡cuélgalo!

  • She IS built but this is NOT a staby produced voice. I like the instrument but one can already hear the problems that became worse over time.

  • Really beautiful performance . 33 times thanks

  • Great Spass Wenkoff! Great dramatic interpretation!

  • @amlirco I saw Dame Gwyneth And Spas Wenkoff in Tristan und Isolde at the Met saturday afternoon matene 1982. Wonderfull production.

  • wieso, da war sie doch erst 40

  • cooles vid und jungs schaut mal auf GeileZone . com wenn ihr was lernen wollt

  • I'm so gald i saw a lot of opera years ago when it was really taken seriously! I never want to go anymore to see these horrible productions and horrendous singers straining their way even through the easy parts...

  • I've always had a crush on Sir Davis.

  • Gwyneth Jones luce hermosa,impresionante.

  • This tenor is one of the best Tannhausers I've heard yet. Excellent. And of course Jones gives a great performance as Venus.

  • @nclysander Agree especially re: Wenkoff. Has tremendous diaphragm support, No wonder he lasted so long. Looks very fit, too,

  • Lucifer (Venus) seducing.

  • Gee, you missed the ingrown toenail as well....You also missed the fact that she is the best Venus in the World!

  • Def not a sexy voice like mezzos, but def sexual and a goddess.

  • Great posting; Bayreuth's acoustics are amazing

  • Wonderful for the both! Great!

  • She looks (nice costume) and sounds wonderful!

    Wagner is awesome.

  • Yes, what a body! Have you ever seen a dramatic soprano looking like that? It is all a mountain of flab everywhere else (sorry).

This is to prove that a big voice does not have to live in an oversized body.

Are there other healthy-looking big voices out there? I would be keen to know.

  • Janice Baird is beautiful woman, and has a huge (VERY under-appreciated) voice. Nina Stemme and Katarina Dalayman also come to mind.

  • @beacoloratura I'm not aware of any current Wagner sopranos like that - though in her youth Hildegard Behrens had a damn fine figure (as I saw when she was singing Salome.)

I've seen Dame Gwyneth as Brunnhilde and she was staggering.

  • @beacoloratura

I have seen a pig-salome on youtube doing the dance of the veils. *shudders*

  • @croscream Jeah, that's where the audience shouted for more veils...

  • @beacoloratura yes. She is VERY beautiful. What a wonderful performance!

  • @beacoloratura I am inclined to agree with you. there are some singers out there that look just downright unhealthy and in the case of Jane Eaglen she got so big you coudl tell it hindered her singing. that being said i dont consider jones a petite woman and i think youll be hard pressed to find someone among the scrawny yawners of today who put out glorious sounds like those big matrons of old.

  • Great news! DG will be releasing the DVD of this in July.

  • Gwyneth is great. Bur where is the tenor in this video?

  • Hes right there lol. This is her moment he gets the whole opera, and thank god that its spass wenkoff in this traviata for tenors.

  • personally I prefer kinda lyric mezzo-soprani for Venus; this Heldensopran is too much for me in this role...

Great voice and great looks anyway !

  • Outstanding!

  • the voice of dark eros. heroic. expressive of the most complex human emotions. performing for dionysis and apollo.

  • Wonderful!! I have a list of top 5 singers that i like and it changes every week, lol, but she always makes it.

  • OMG this is amazing. I love Gwyneth Jones so much!
