  • Holy cow I remember watching this as a kid. I loved the series - but after seeing the hairy people portraits I couldnt sleep for weeks!

  • spock is just the perfect narrator for this type of content, highly illogical captain

  • Thank you for posting this and the rest of the In Search Of episodes I loved this show, this Dracula episode, Easter Island, and the Coral Castle are my favs thanks alot

  • which castles are these at the beginning with the artwork ?? thanks

  • liked this show as a kid. the theme music is so 70s. this show scared me as a kid.

  • I love the music that goes with this show, I can remember it like yesterday. I wish I could go back. I would have been about 8.

  • I was at Castle Bram this afternoon. It was awesome.

  • I am a simple peasant.

  • This is the episode that made me feel emotionally scarred because it gave me the idea that a real living person did in fact inflicted a slow and cruel death on anyone who stood in his way.

Vlad Dracula would have given even Osama Bin Laden chills and I wouldn't blame him. A Romanian who was very cruel, very bloodthirsty, he didn't take no for an answer and was ruthless to all enemies outside his rule or within.

  • vad is still on the stamps in romania, he is revered a great king, when the orthodox christian chruch in constantanople was being attacked by the muslim hords of suleman the great he resisted even though the church gave in and lost, he attacked the invading army and impaled their heads along the road for miles...no more problem ....with them...but history is wimpy

  • This is great stuff especially when compared to the bullshit being produced today. Now most shows that deal with the unexplained or the paranormal take the form of a laughable reality show.

  • @1138thz Well In Search Of... offered many perceptions about what is reality but with effort to put the facts which may explain the fictions we take in. A Eastern European warlord who impaled any enemies on stakes to slowly die? We would say that's over the top, even in the Middle Ages or no man could ever imagine such a punishment, it must be some sort of monster.

  • holy shit its spock

  • Trivia: Although the world would know him as Vlad the Impaler, most of his enemies simply called him "asshole".

  • cool

  • Vlad, Vlad, Vlad the impaler,\.

Vlad, Vlad, He could have been a sailor but he's,

    Vlad, Vlad, Vlad the impaler

Vlad, Vlad, He could have been a

Whaler could have been a Tailor,

He turned out to be Norman Mailer

    Whoaaoo

    Thank you... GWAR!!!

  • @BossBass7o7 :)?

  • You probably couldn't do this show today, because people would be trying too hard to call bullsh*t on it.

But Nimoy's voice is so awesome.

  • If the program Ancients Behaving Badly was ever extended, Vlad Dracula would be a figure to examine but I would say a little psychopathic but overall driven by the obsession to keep in power and also his head.

  • Is it just me, or has West Virginia become the new Transylvania for Hollywood? Both landscapes look freakishly similar, and a lot of horror movies in recent years have taken place in and around West Virginia. Just saying.

  • @MichaelVoz

    just you.

  • @zensorship Yeah, maybe.

  • @MichaelVoz

nah I was just kidding, because the phrase "is it just me, or...." has become a little bit too frequent on Youtube

  • the music was cool in this show, it gave the show a creepy feeling.

  • This is a good one but 'The Amityville Horror' episode scared the piss out of me when I was a kid.

  • i love this show! it's really cool =D

  • YES THEY ACTUALLY USED ONE OF MY SONGS- BRAMZ OUT!

  • My favorite episode of this series is " In Search Of" Hansel and Gretal!

  • A superb series. As an intellectual youngster, I was fascinated by these tales of the bizarre, and Nimoy is the perfect host.

  • A few years ago, I met a lady from Romania. I asked her where in Romania she was from and she said that she is from Transylvania. I was like, "Transylvania?" and something else and she saud, "Yes, Transylvania. BOO!".

  • SIMPLE PEASANT!? He grows his own food! (probably) And if you live there... He would grow yours too... He is not simple...

  • I kind of wish I saw the intro I knew in the 80s

  • The music should win a freakin Grammy.Makes your toes curl up.

  • Why can't they make shows like this anymore. Great stuff! I remember in the 70's, I was kind of young, born in '72, monsters were all over the place. My dad used to by magazines like Starlog and Famous Monsters of Filmland and we would watch this show as well along with Son of Svengoolie on WFLD 32 Chicago. In Search of is a classic show. They need to release this on DVD!

  • BILBO

    BILBO B

    AGGINS!

  • Vlad tepes a true hero who stopped the muslims from invading europe.

  • @Ursusdk A true Christian Hero! Many criticized him for his method of impaling the Turks. Doesn't anybody know that he learned that from the Turks themselves? Vlad gave them a taste of their own med!

  • Comment removed

  • @DreadedPantherTank You're a fundamentalist freak. I mean, seriously, a "true Christian Hero?" The man was a mass-murder, and the fact that you think so highly of him is a sign of what's wrong with Christianity today.

  • @Tony2826 To be honest Vlad has the characteristics of many modern despots with slight psychopathic thrills. Think Lenin meets Nasser meets Ho Chi Minh with hints of Saddam Hussein, Papa Doc and the charisma and dynamic skills in warfare like Trotsky or Tito. As for his method of execution, he wasn't above impaling Germans or his fellow countrymen along side the invading Turks so I wouldn't call him a "true Christian Hero" since if you crossed him, you die in agony.

  • I loved this show too. It was always compelling and entertaining.

  • the music and narration made it captivating.

the history channel keeps redoing subjects and the music and narration get more and more annoying.

  • I miss this show so much.

  • This is one of my favourite episodes of the show!

  • I like old shows like these.

  • i met mr.nimoy

  • Zepp, how was he?

  • He was very nice and friendly =)

  • Nice. He looks like a good dude.

  • He is cool! I've met him too!

  • was he a nice guy?

  • Yeah, Very Friendly too!

  • Now these are the vampires I used to know!

  • 0:08 i see a ghost on the stairs!!

it's standing in front of the door!!

  • Is this series available on DVD? Anyone know?

  • It is.....about 79.99 for over 150 episodes too. just google it.

  • When i was a kid watching this back in the 70s, i sat in the kitchen away from the others and watched this in the dark.Nothing like scaring the hell out of yourself as a kid.Especially watching Nosferatu.

  • this is great, very good , excellent

    jade

  • This guy lives in the apartment above me, he knows how to party!

  • lol

  • ...went to south america,

    changed name to chupacabra... :O

  • i think its he nosferatu image that scared me the most as a kid

  • this is the one i remember the most -- prob the best in search episode

  • This is the greatest In Search of EVER!!! Jack the Ripper rocks too!

  • Agreed!

I'll pick these stark old grainy reel-to-reel In Search Of episodes over most of the crap we have on TV today!

  • Yep.

  • Amen to that!!! The tripe they show on tv now is terrible. If these old programs were even more grainy than what they are, I would still love them!

  • @ryanspeed .......we used to watch these on the old reels in 5th grade during the late 1980s.

  • @ryanspeed YUP I hear ya. I miss seeing this show. It was a staple in my house in the 80's even tho the show had long been off the air. I loved these types of shows. Leonard Nimoy was always a favorite. I got to meet him one time and asked him about hosting this marvelous show. He was amazed it was still on the air. Leonard didn't like to sign autographs but he loved to talk. It was great talking with him.

  • @ryanspeed Anyday bro..anyday. TV was the best in the 60's and 70's. We had more good stuff on 3 channels than they have today on hundreds.

  • This show ROCKED!!! In Search of with Leonard Nimoy was the shit!!!!

  • Are the guy's hands swollen? Yikes

  • Those 4 pictures of Dracula 2:29-2:52 is actually the actor Christopher Lee from the 1958 Dracula film.

  • i loved this!

i had to laugh at the portrait of the really hairy dude, though... it's CHEWBACCA!! xD

  • There is nothing better than this show. Creepy narration, old film stock, eerie music - GOTTA LOVE IT! Thanks so much for uploading this!

  • IN SEARCH OF was the best mystery show ever! Nimoy is a legend!

  • And thanks alot G8trman77 for loading the clips!!!

  • yeah is one of the best narrator ever..

  • I have canies that look like vampire thangs.

  • Pictures??

  • Whos the disfigured subject at 0:45?

I love they show clips from Nosferatu :D I wonder if Castle Braun(sp?) was the castle used in the exterior shots in the film?

  • CASTLE BRAN!!!!

  • A deformed man born in Europe sometime in the 1800's I believe.
