5:23...sometimes it makes me want to cry knowing how long graffiti has been here and people are still saying it isn't art. I was gonna go bombing the other day and my "friend" said "Graffiti isn't art it's vandalism". As soon as he said that I left and never talked to him again.
i brought this book back in 88' .... it inspired so many taggers that it could be considered the bible of graffiti... SEEN, SKEME, DAZE, T-KID, LEE and the list goes on.... all the masters are named like disciples... phenomenal,
this movie is very colorful isnt it?like a lot of colors used in graffiti then there are now. and why do the negros have them spade things in their hair?
WELL BERNY JACOBS, ILL COME BOMB THE FUCK OUT OF UR HOUSE, ROB YOU, AND PAINT ON EVERYTHING I FIND OF YOURS, AND "LIKE THIS" IF YOU THINK "GRAFFITI" IS AN ART? GO OUT AND BOMB, GET OFF THE COUCH!!
No, really that was a great vid and I really enjoyed it, but when did it become cool to spread a disease, be dishonest, and sell out to money! Well selling out to money has been around for a while, but spreading herpes and lieing about....is just not the move, I don't care how much money they are making. Don't suffer with herpes, have sex and spread that disease. IT RUINS PEOPLES LIVES!
wish i was born those days... when everything was pure and innocent... they didnt care whos the best or the king... they just painted because the were just feeling it...
They showed this to us in video class. J.H.S 135 bx. ny 1983. Half of my school faced the 2 line. I saw all these burners running. It doesn't get much better.
Origonal hip hop is a form of expressing yourself by DJing, MCing, Breaking, Writing or by other things that arent explained by the 4 pillars of Hip Hop.
well, i define it as something an artist does to bring something new to the table. if not new, then by adding thier own flavor or style to it. i compare original hip hop to the sampling of vinyls. why? because a producer will sit there and go threw albums until he finds a good track that he can flip and try and make it into something else by adding his own personal style to the track. much like an mc's flow, being versatile and having your own style sets you apart from all the other wack mc's
As a person that lived during that time in NYC and was forever influenced. We were like; 'Yo! it's like 7 million people in New York City, if we get respect here you don't need to leave for recognition and make your money!' We kept it pure so when the WORLD CAME TO US we had the 4 Pillars of Hip Hop in it's purest form. The city was our canvas!
@sicitachi I was alive back then and was incredible! I still cry for Tupac after 15 years. At least you have utube and you can enjoy Tribe Called Quest and groups like that the were what real HIp-Hop was all about.

graffiti as the name its self is not an art graffiti is the application of a medium to a surface.
and
