For me, personally, I didn't find PH from SH5 or the movie scary at all. Not even when I first saw/ encountered him.

But every time I rewatch youtube cutscenes of PH from SH2, I get chills down my spine. Chills of both fear and epicness. I love PH from SH2, down to his costume design, height, not elaborately designed helmet, not elaborately designed knife, EVERYTHING.

I didn't like Homecoming that much, though Pyramid Head is supposed to be symbolic, I think they also used him in the game so it was still connected to classic Silent Hill. o.o' it's a decent game, but it's like it only uses the concepts of Silent Hill to get the monsters and be part of a popular series.

He was created to represent James' sexual frustration (which is why he rapes things) and to punish James for the death of his wife.

The second PH is to punish James for allowing Maria to die. (though, she doesn't like to stay dead)

In SH5, Pyramid Head is just like the giant tree monster, Scarlet's doll, and Asphyxia. He represents Alex, one of the sacrificial children.
