  • do you know why when i workout my abs i dont get a line down the middle? i just get like bars across basically but when i dont work them out i have a good 4 pack?

  • @birdysansaver When you workout, your abs become bigger due to the active congestion (blood) and seem to "close the middle line". I don't know your %bf but it's a logical explanation... Maybe true...

  • Lifting your legs up lying on your back is not an ab exercise. The reason you feel tension in your abs while performing this movement is because you need to protect your back from the damage that you're trying to do to yourself. Basic biomechanics: muscles cross the joints that they flex or extend. Abs do not cross the hip, therefore they are not being directly worked. So, exercise number 2 is directly exercising your hip flexors, idirectly exercising your abdominals etc to prevent injury.

  • @stevepom However, holding your legs stationary just above the floor (about 2 inches or so) requires abdominal strength as it is straining all muscles in the core to perform this action.

  • @dreamboynyc2 its not true in the summer for football we worked the abs every single day and after only 1 month i got a 4 pack when before i had nothing but fat on my belly

  • @thoosejakob149 like dagonmonkey said if you tighten your stomach you should be ok. This is done a lot in training for boxing due to the high volume of body punches endured in a fight. So you can never go wrong with this exercise.

  • This is a very useful video. However , as with alot of exercises posted on youtube he fails to say how many sets should be done for each exercise. How many SETS does he perform to get those abs? 3, 5, 10 ..... for the love of God please let us know. Also, what one should know and is not obvious to many is that diet plays a big part in getting a six pack. You can do these exercises all day but if you dont watch what you eat there will be that layer of fat on top of those abs!

  • diet does play a huge part unless you play a heavy sport like football or lacrosse, it doesnt affect as much but it still does and probably about 5 sets would do

  • having a six pack is all about low body fat percentage, if you want one, eat less and work out more. no matter how much abs related workouts you do if you still have alot of body fat you won't get to see them.

  • @northstar1984 Eating less is actually not true. When you eat less your metabolism does not stay active therefore when you feel extremely hungry and then you eat your body store more fat out of what you're eating than it would if you were to eat smaller portions 6 times a day. High protein, low carbs, no HFCS, high fiber, and low fat diet will do the trick.

  • @northstar1984 um, ur not supposed to eat less, maybe eat less portions per meal, cuz eating less slows down ur metabolism and is actually unhealthy if ur someone that exercises alot, the more u eat and the more u workout increases ur metabolism cuz ur stomach is doing more work digesting food, but u gotta workout to burn the food u just ate, the main thing is to be active

  • I'm 6 foot tall and weighed about 136kgs which is very obese. I was overweight and unfit but Over the past 5 months I've been eating right & exercising and lost over 40 kgs. I'm now lean and trim and am workin on abs. The top 4 arre showing now but I just cant lose that little bit of belly covering the bottom two. I've been running, doin weights and crunches religiously so far to no avail. I hope yr exercises work for me.

  • Because the video isn't about Fat-Burning: The other half of obtaining a Six-Pack.Or, better yet,ANY muscle definition...Dude's kinda chubby,but it's obvious he's strong,and atleast semi fit. But most people have thier issues with discipline. His physique leads us to believe his problem is either nutritional in nature,or his cardio work-out's lacking. With that said,you can still see his abs,although faintly. But you can still see them....

  • great workouts!!....as for dreyfussfury the leg raises at 1:30 are all about the lower abs....but the key to lower abs is alot to do with how little body fat you have in that area.

  • if you do legs raises, like in the video, you'll get a lower ab workout.

  • leg raises m8, lay down and raise them, its a killer for lower abs aswell as upper

  • The idea of no carbs after 8 pm is that the insulin response to the carbs will block hGH (human growth hormone, or somatotrophin) and other anabolic hormones that are released in the first few hours of sleep.  Its not that the carbs will turn to fat as most people think. If you NEED to eat carbs beofore you sleep (and there are such times), try to make the carbs low in GI and in number. It will still be ok.

    Your body shapes the way you move it.

    Do ab exercises with your stomach pushed out and you will firm the ab muscles to stick out more.

    Do your ab exercises with your stomach pulled in holding weights or not and you will create a nice flat rock hards six pack.

    Clarence Bass did weighted side bends with 40lbs dunbells regularly. His waist is tight and narrow.

  • High intensity interval running is a great way to burn fat. You should build up to 5 RPE over 5 mins. Then do a +20 min run. at 5 RPE with higher intensity intervals of 7 RPE every other minute. That way you are working harder than with a standard run. Making the calorific consumption far greater.

    And you shouldn't wait to tone/train the abs! Always train them even if you can't see them yet. But also consider doing other core exercises AND squats!!!
