Like any MM-type setup, it's actually a bit foolish. Seems to me the most reasonable way to measure ye olde aether drift would be to knock out the light path after the full-surface mirrors, replace the two full-surface mirrors with computer-controlled detectors, use integral-wavelength light pulses, and make both paths long as possible, but I doubt all that would be worth the trouble.
Visit at YouTube my slide presentation showing fundamental critiques on the paradigms such as the relativity of simultaneity thought experiment, the Lorentz-contraction, the Michelson and Morley experiment and the light clock. In the Michelson and Morley experiment a specific photon effect was overlooked up to now which is discussed in the slide presentation and in more detail at the referenced according website. i have certain questions, the first one:- is it due to ether that both the paths are not equal????? second question:- if there is no ether then both paths shouldn't be equal?? third :- how did this experiment disapprove the concept of ether??? ihave read many articles on diff websites, but these 3 questions are not cleared. pls help me
The ether has its own direction, and if there was any ether, the speed of light would be C + the speed of the ether. In this case the light was in all directions, but still all of them hit the detector at the same time, showin there is no ether.

this experiment did not disprove the ether, it proved that it EITHER did not exist OR it was at rest relative to the Earth

why cant ether has no direction what so ever?

Ether does not exist ! Thats what the michelson-morley experiment is all about. If it doesn't exist, how is it gonna have any directions ?

And if it doesn't have any directions, well how is it gonna exist ? It is a paradox. Goes both ways.

the initial assumption was that either was a dynamic structure. is that correct?
