  • Can you understand English better?

I noticed that you seemed to start from learning Ouyang Xun's form. Thats why you lacked the sharp point on each strokes.

Square strokes looks more concrete, and looks better on big letters, but those with sharp points and round finish strokes looked more fluid on paper scroll.

In Wei/Jin Dynasty of Wangxizhi, the northern people had square strokes because they write stele more, southern people write scroll more that they have more fluid writing.

  • Wangxizhi belonged to the southern school, as with his decendant Zhiyong (智永), and also Yushinan and Chusuiliang. Their writing are daring in sharp points(露锋), but this give them more vibrant variation.

But unfortunately, most of their writing is now preserved on stele and stone carvings, so you don't see it clearly, I advice you to study writings on ink copy rather than stele stone carving.

  • Thank you for having you explain it based on a historic flow. I will apply what you pointed out in an exercise in future.

  • You are welcomed.

Another example of southern school of writing is some of their writings are 向背, for example 月 is written with )( on their outer shell. Northern are influenced more by 隶书.

You can also notice the angle of the sharp points of 蘭亭序, like how he go out from one stroke, and go into another stroke. Kind of complex to say, but it was fun to study a person's writing.

Your writing is very good, keep up the good work.
