  • ye u never explained in the next video about forinors taking advantages of the chinese

  • i miss videos from this appartament

  • Just wanted to say I appreciate this video!

I'm really trying to figure out which language to learn and live in its country for a few years. It's between Chinese, German, and Japanese. I'm trying to see which would suit me more but a hassle trying to find some decent anecdotes and opinions from those that have lived in there

  • please make a longer video telling us more

  • Did you speak Chinese when you moved there in 2006?

  • I wonder when you say cost of living is cheap because I want to teach english but I hear over and over that the pay is shit and your living standards will be crap...

  • Shanghai is different, shanghai resembles new york city

  • I just come back from 1 month in Shanghai and I can say in a calm and rationnal manner that chinese people are the most dirty, rude, hatefull, uncivilised and uneducated people I EVER SAW.. I just could have kill some of them if I wasn't in their country..

The time of Buddha and Confucius is far gone.

  • @lizrdski Shanghai is a different ball game from what I have heard, Shenzhen is very nice.

  • @lizrdski

never visit china again. go back to your country and get stabbed by blacks.

  • @lizrdski thats what happens when the poor and the rich lives together, unlike where you come from, the poor is cast away in the ghetto and the rich live in suburban areals.

you never had to deal with the poor because they were never around where you lived.

maybe you should go back to your country and visit the ghetto one day and get a feel of their living conditions. people like you sicken me.

  • @lizrdski I think a well civilised and educated guy could not post a comment like you've done. So pls educate yourself first.

  • Thanks for the video! I know what you mean, its great when everyone knows how to be nice to eachother. I've been to Bangkok a while ago and loved the contrast between asian culture and western culture.

I'm planning to be in Hong Kong in late Janurary and thinking about crossing the border to china for a day, not sure whether to go to Shenzhen or Guangzhou (or both). Since Hong Kong is mostly Cantonese I'll be keen to actually use some of the mandarin i learnt a while ago

  • There's no resentment from the poor people in China, but on the other hand rich people seem to think they are better than everybody else...

  • isnt youtube blocked in china? Howd you get around that?

  • Those mountains are beautiful. I'm from America, but I'm very interested in learning Chinese and living there.

  • I have yet to see a foreigner that has lived in China hate it there.

  • I think its because your wearing an suit and a rolex.

  • Serpentza I am not going to trash you or it is not my intention to put you down. I read through the post and I would like to respond a little as a minority. I don't like the insider "white" remarks that you are making. I have talked to other South Africans. If you people know your history the Afrikanas oppressed the majority. I hear that chip on your shoulder. The best think you can do is not give others the ideal that the Chinese people are happy being poor.

  • minority within a minority......RACEPTION!!!!

  • As a South African who's stayed in London for two years. I understand your point of view - and never thought of it that way. Thanx for the vid

  • @SABikerchick Good to hear from you again and to see you're still around. So you've been in the UK? Good for you :)

  • @serpentza are you a secret agent or something??

  • I remember you. You posted on forumosa for a bit. Feisty little one you are.

  • @ThisIsTaiwan That's me ;)

  • Love it !!!

  • thanks for the summation.very good.

  • one thing chinese people never told you is

we love our country secretly , very very dearly .

no matter where our body goes, we cannot manage to lose our sense of national pride

  • hello! I appreciate you posted this video. you offer us a lot of info about china.

I will be there in february next year at tianjin...nankai....do you know the place?

if yes, can you, please, tell me some things about it?

    thank you. claudia

  • @cinderella28982 hi. I am a Chinese and now i'm in US. I know something about tianjin nankai. that is a very good university in China, and a lot of high school students want go there. so the students u will meet there are top students in China. and tianjin also is a very good city, near to Beijing, which is the capital of China. tianjing is coastal city. people in there are very friendly. and also u can find many kinds of yummy food there. Such as Goubuli stuffed bun and twist of tough...

  • Very informative video. When we caucasians see Asia it tends to be from a distance usually through documentaries produced by corporate entities that have vested interests in portraying a nation in one manner only.. NEVER do we we see it from a personal perspective unless we visit it first hand. It's videos like this that bridge the gap. Thanks.

  • I am thinking of moving out of the US and to China some day. I feel it is what I am here for. China has always fascinated me and its contribution to humanity over the millenia is undisputed.

  • @firestormrex If you're ever in the neighbourhood, give me a call, we'll have a beer.

  • Awesome video my friend. I lived in Huizhou, about an hour from you, last year. I moved to Taiwan for a year, but I just can't stop thinking about the excitement and passion that I experienced when living in the mainland. I'll be back in January. Shenzhen is nuts by the way haha

  • @matt999tye Great, so when you're here, let's have a drink!

  • I'm very pleased with this video it's a shame though that it doesn't got the reviews it deserves.

I've always thought for some time that Japan was the "holy" land.

But after watching this, Japanese treatment of foreigner looked like shit.

Heck I can even understand why some Chinese still hates Japan.

  • To qualify the "Chinese like/get along with foreigners" with Chinese like/get along with WHITE foreigners.

  • Lol a minority within minority haha that's funny

    Interesting history of yourself ;)

  • A very good friend of mine from work and motorcycle riding buddy was born in South Africa. He came to the US as a teenager and he has a lot of similar experiences to share about prejudism and life views. I think it's a very wonderful and character-building point of view to have. I hope you truly feel blessed to have such as view since it's a rare quality where I'm from but it's very admirable.

As always good sir, looking forward to your next video!

  • @dodgerider26 Thank you, I never thought of it that way :) More videos coming soon

  • When I lived in Hong Kong I blended in and everyone thought I was Chinese. When I go to Singapore everyone (even the Chinese and especially the Filipinos) thought I was Filipino, and in Japan, they thought I was Chinese. In Hawaii I am often mistaken for Filipino too. LOL

  • @808yewtube That's interesting, I'd put you somewhere between Japanese and Malaysian. :) I just tell people I'm British (mostly true) so that I can avoid that "but you're not black" statement... I swear every Chinese person I've told I'm South African has answered with that :P

  • The western media is based on bull shit. Maybe there wil some future videos with chinese people. Good to see you are getting your videos out.

  • @heresteven Thanks man, it's difficult to upload through the great firewall, I usually have to retry about 10 times (due to time-outs etc) but I'll keep them coming!

  • Wow, very interesting, serpentza. You must have an interesting job. Which remind me I just chatted some one from South Africa on my facebook. I think his name is Pieter. I asked him about that language he speak.

    Looks very tropical and humid.

  • @rolpal619 it's very humid here.. it was about 34 Degrees C and 96% humidity that day :P

  • Nice thoughts on living in China (and the view is spectacular too). I was just having this debate today with someone about how the Western media paints China as a hostile country!

  • @dinkoman Thanks man.. I chose the apartment partly because of the view :)

  • Yeah Serpentza, its nice to learn about you and your life. You are an interesting guy and that reflects upon the success you have in life. I find it really interesting that there isn't a class conflict in China. You'd think rich countries would have less class conflict but thats not true. I also find it nice to see that you describe Shenzhen as being happy inspite of some poor living conditions. Once again, you'd think rich countries would be happier but that simply isn't true either. Thanks!

  • @redraiders2K9 all I can say is thanks, and I appreciate that you're interested in my videos, I will keep making them as long as I'm able :)

  • @redraiders2K9 No class conflict in China? Absurd. The Cultural Revolution was about murdering people who dared challenge that. The one and only totalitarian, unelected party outlaws any dissent. You're not an immigrant moving for a better life. It's a fascinating exercise in your ability to pursue your intellectual curiosity. Kudos to you for that. But the reality is, you're an Anglo-Saxon --- their former colonial master. Dif experience if Filipiono. Move out of a major city 4 real PRC.

  • Didn't realize how close you are to New Territories! Great peek into life in Shenzen.

  • this is a wonderful video. I enjoy the equality you speak of. Which is very not present here in Oregon, USA. Anyways, keep up the good work!

  • While this is straying from serpentza's video, which I enjoyed. Oregon and all NW America, is by far, the nicest place to live in the US. (though I may be biased having grown up in Oregon).

Back to the video, Even being asian myself, I am also always amazed at the hospitality and friendliness of the people there. I had travelled to a smaller village for a few weeks teaching in Taiwan and it was... amazing to say the least.

  • Nice video buddy.. I agree with you on everything you said in regards to people have a chip on their shoulders!

Quick question regarding your apartment. Did you want to be on the top floor or was it the only one available to rent? if I lived in your building i would want to be on the top floor because of the views you would have. :)

  • very nice I liked asia for the same reasons

  • Very interesting video! Why are you in China?

  • Interesting vid... As a Brit who grew up in Hong Kong but returned to the UK i have always felt very unsettled back in this culture of the west, although there are many benefits here i have always missed that feeling of friendliness and contented feeling you mentioned..... its true.... majority of people don't have that chip on their shoulder! How i wish my employment applied to roles out there! I'd be there in a heart beat! :) - Keep 'em coming Serpentza! :)

  • Your Best Vid so far, serpentza Philosophy, Outstanding! the west does invision China as a threat, to me its my Motherland, damn proud of that!

  • Wow, I didn't know you were born South Africa! Great way of putting it. Cheers!

  • @roboticdolphin born *in
