what year is this? is this a 1999? i own one and every where i go they tell me its impossible to upgrade and install a navi system or take the tape deck out and install something newer
...or a detailed step by step information would also do nicely. Keep in mind not all people are so tech minded so a brief explanation is really hard to understand. Cheers
@savage758 , hey doing a video with the DIY will take long time. All watchers demanding explanations had been answered. Basically, If you dont have a NAV model, is impossible, as the stock multi-display screen is not warkable for video signals
@savage758 . With the NAV system, is a matter of buying the right equipment, Video-RGB convertor, Ipod integration equipment, DVB tuner, and of course be ready to dissamble all dash, cutting wires...Is everybody ready to do that? In a Lexus? I prefer to answer only to people willing to do it.
Well, not difficult, but first you must have a RX3oo with NAV system, and there are only a few in the market.
Check before buy a used one that you have the same screen as mine, even if the NAV CPU is not installed you can achieve this, but you have to cheat the screen as it was one.
Then you will need to buy an Ipod integration system, check in google, and also a RGB video converter. Then is a matter of time, cut and paste some wiring...and thats it.
You have accomplished something that only a few can really appreciate (12 on a scale of 1-10). I am at square 1 and trying to get where you are. I want to stay true to factory look but enjoy video in my console. If you would share info I would greatly appreciate it. Custom shops have tried to persuade me to install aftermarket unit...no thanks.
It's a 2001 with nav
