Test it after client and server restarts and you will have XenApp last, ThinApp first.
Once XenApp have seen your session, it will cache even your WinWord. exe app, unless that memory is needed by someone else (rarely a case on a test system) - so yes it is faster - the second time you start it.
By the way, I noticed later that the client may have streamed the app to the xenapp server, and the server ran the app... and then exported just the graphics to the client. Will verify later... may have a direct to client streaming issue.

We use both also, with Wyse thin clients and find the thin-app to be much faster when loading multiple apps at login.
