We saw Cigar in 2006 at the KHP. He looked great and looked very happy. He poses for pictures with fans who can pose right next to him. I'm sure his first choice would be to be on the racetrack, but he has a great home there.
amazing to see this champion again i feel happy the great CIGAR earning 9.9 million just a few less than 10 millions he won all kind of racing although he couldnt win one racing of triple crown but it was a big champion.

He still holds the record for total earnings in North America if I'm not mistaken. Somewhere around 9 million. I think Curlin though, my all time favorite, is going to break that record. He's at 8.8 million and climbing. He just won the 6 million dollar Dubai World Cup 4 hours ago. It's too bad Cigar is infertile. He would have made an excellent stud.
Cigar was $185 short of earning 10 million with today's high purses Curlin should do it. but im more impressed by how Cigar and Skip Away earned theirs, and even more impressed by how Alysheba and John Henry accomplised theirs.
I met him and John Henry in 2005, both great and friendly horses. :)
