This was not a great movie but it had it's moments. Peter Weller acting all 'commanding', trying to convince his people to get it together. Then he raises an electric shaver to his face and we the audience realize he's practising alone in front of a mirror. The thought of that scene still cracks me up!

Actually a Leviathan is a creature from religious text. It is a destroyer of worlds. A creatures with a open interpretation that varies widely.

It probably came from the asians regarding dragons and kinda got all fucked up as it crossed over to europe over the centuries.

I don't see anyone mentioning in the midst of rip off movies that "I Am Sam" is a rip-off of "Rainman". get off the Leviathan / The Abyss ride people. A lot of movies like these seem the same & have the same script in nature , but are all different situation-wise when it all comes down to the characters & what the actors portray their characters to do in these movies. The Abyss was more of a relaxed & peaceful feeling & less of a threatening movie than Leviathan. The Abyss was more of a drama & not an intense monster movie like Leviathan was so get off the Leviathan / Abyss roller coaster.
