I've seen the film recently, it's absolutely superb, but I have a couple of history questions. For one, what were the records that led to the arrest of Achilleas' father? What about the portrait in Sotiris' basement?

Also, when Agnew left the village, the police deputy put on a song that made most of the establishment's representatives either faint or lose their nerve. I'm guessing it was a subversive political anthem. What was it? Thank you in advance.

Achilleas father was a communist so he has been arrested from the police to threat other villagers.The portrait in Sotiris basement was the portrait of a Dimocratic leader in greece (It has been I long time since I saw the movie,so I'm not sure if he was Papandreou or Karamanlis) And the song was really about politics and illegal when we had the dictatory in Greece.

Oh ! you asked about the records ! they was from a singer called Theodorakis. He was writting song against the dictatory and all his alboums was illegal.If you pay attetion in the biggining of the song you can hear his name ! "an akouseis Theodoraki mpeneis fylaki" that means " If you hear to Theodorakis you "ll get in prison"

achilleas father was a communist thats why he is arrested (his records have liberal songs). the policeman accidentally put on to play one of this records but the american thinks that it is just a sirtaki!

Πάρα πολύ ωραία ταινία νοσταλγική γι'αυτούς που έζησαν την εποχή της χούντας!προσωπικά μ'αρέσει η μουσική του καλαντζόπουλου κι οι στίχοι της Νικολακοπούλου,που-όπως είπε σε μια συνέντευξη-είναι οι δικές της αναμνήσεις από την εποχή καθ'ότι 10 ετών τότε.Για την Αλκηστάρα δεν έχω λόγια,είναι απ'τις αγαπημένες μου φωνές..
