  • How do you make the second controller first controller.

  • Ow! My head!

  • is it bad I love the music. so dancey. doo doo doo.

  • the wii wears a condom

  • Would it be possible to connect your Wii-mote to your PC without the sensor-bar, or would we have to buy one?

  • @abdulz1 you could connect it yes, but it wouldn't work. without the sensor bar to use as a reference point, the cursor wont know where to go.

the buttons and the accelerometer would work though

  • @TheTowerBarron What if you used another Infrared source, like a candle?

  • @abdulz1 Then yes, that should work. But if you're going to hack the wiimote to be used on your computer, you could probably hook a battery up to the sensor bar wire and just use that. Also, you can buy wireless sensor bars

  • @TheTowerBarron Dad?

  • Very good explanation, directly, simple, and using a great resource that is the animation. I didnt read all the coments, but you can answer again what's the software you used to do the animation? Blender, Maya, 3D Studio?

    Congratulations, very good work!

  • @alvaroperdigao This was made in Lightwave 3d. I've been experimenting with Maya a lot these days, so expect more videos (finally)

  • the wii remote is the first controller that teaches people how to put a condom on

  • Ok, so how does it detect when it's upsidown

  • @Megadoomable If the wii remote was upside down the force it would register would be upwards, relatively. Remember, it compares the direction of the forces applied to the controller. Its not just a vertical line, its a vector pointing down. (I guess I probably should have made the lines arrows instead of dotted lines.

  • thumbs up if you thought that the sensor bar picked up IR light from the wii remote;

    at least i did

  • It doesn't matter if the wii remote is black or white, people! The battery life is what matters!

  • 0:45 I'd say the most coveted chip is the IR camera sensor at the end. You can ONLY get them from scrapped wiimotes 'cause aren't available "off the shelf"

  • I was wondering why this thing went through batteries so often and came across this. Good job!

  • This music made me wanna play THE SIMS!!

  • What program did you use to make the animation with

  • Nice but what program did you use to make this video. Please reply.

  • will it blend...YES!

  • Ohhh so the bar doesnt sense thats why you can use a candle as an alternative :D

  • kinect picks you up by infaGREEN.

  • Awesome video. This was very informative and surprisingly high-quality.

  • these are very good info, but if u could stop that song for a day ..... :D

  • Awesome video, really! Thanks for the detailed explanation, clearly and undertandable (English is not my frist idiom haha). Im fan of Nintendo, i have my Wii and i always having fun with friends, family or alone, Nintendo made a really good MultiConsole System and again; thanks for the explanation!

  • Thanks for the absolutely amazing presentation, I learned a lot.

  • i really liked this vidoe. realy cool how you did it in an animation.

thumps up if you guys think it two

  • This is a real good how-it-works video. The graphics really help a lot. Thanks.

  • wiimote

  • Amazing work! Also amazing music, animation, explanation, details!!!

  • nice work.................

  • WHATEVER!!!!!

  • @Pjor1cp Umm.. well first of all... I'm not a nintendo worker. Second, I made this video when the wii first came out. So things like the Kinect did not yet exist. I appreciate, however, that you think my work is good enough that a professional nintendo employee must have made it.

    thank you

  • @TheTowerBarron thanks for not throwing a tantrum. sorry.

  • @Pjor1cp microsoft copied nintendo wii fit thats what knect is dumb blond

  • @Pjor1cp Kinect is crap

  • my wii doessn,t see the hand anymore

  • all this stuff wasn't necessary, Nintendo. all this complex crap is,well, complex. uv done this before. ever heard of a game called duck hunt?

  • @stupidjeloinc the way duck hunt worked was.. uhh, bad. It wouldnt work the way it needs to in current games. Someone responded with a video on how the lightgun works actually. you should check it out.

  • @TheTowerBarron oh, okay, I see. thx man

  • @stupidjeloinc The Nintendo Zapper, used in duck hunt did NOT use blue-tooth technology. It used a form of lights that reflexed off the screen to show where the zapper was being fired at, hence the name "Light Gun".

When the screen flashes, the zapper picks up the light and then it fires, but sometimes this never really worked out well since TVs back then were big and sometimes the Zappers wouldn't work half the time.

Nintendo made a whole new concept of their own.

  • The infrared lights in the sensor bar aren't red, they are purple.

  • @WeirdCandycain Actually, they aren't purple either, they are infrared, meaning they are outside of the visual spectrum of light. Red and purple are next to each other on the color wheel, but on the spectrum of light, infrared exists below red and ultraviolet exists above purple. Your camera can translate light that is outside of the normal visual spectrum, but you see it through a filter, which will color correct the light into somewhere around red

  • @WeirdCandycain Infrared is a colour we can't see because its a form of light that the eye's didn't evolve to process. Some animals can see it because it benefits them in nature, and it's that ability that allows them to see heat, like a mosquito, which it uses to find warm blooded animals to feed on.

  • mm ok

  • it is obvious that nintendo likes to make unique stuff ... the nintendo ds has TWO screens and a touch screen to add .... and it was a hit ..... now the wii has a remote. ..... what more to ask?

  • great explanation!!!!!......its a little complicated....but i understand!!

  • Could you please also do something like this for the Playstation Move control?

  • is it possible to run an audio signal from an iPod thru the audio amp on the Wiimote and have it play out the speaker?

  • You know I always hoped that candy was inside of these.

  • Man, that is one smart remote.

  • so if you were to hold it like a sword pointed at the sky and swing it, it wouldnt do a damn thing? is this what im hearing?

  • @66jesko used to yes but now it has the extra cencers at the bottom.

  • thanks for the video, very well made. i'm taking an undergrad robotics class, brainstorming technologies to create perhaps building upon using the wii remote, any suggestions?

  • that game's graphics look way to good to be on the wii! jk, nice animation.

  • You got it all wrong. The Wii remote uses MAGIC !

  • why the hell does it need infrared if it has accelerometer ?

    its more responsive ?

what ever it is. its laggy as hell :(

  • Great video, thanks a lot!

So, without the infrared LEDs the Wiimote can "sense" 5 degrees of freedom? (all except turn around Y axis).

I wonder if there is some device that can sense all 6 DoF movements without the need of infrared LEDs, so I could turn around, or walk off the room and the console will still know the position of the device....

  • Great video, thanks a lot!

  • wait.. if the wii remote has a microphone. Why the hell do we need Wii speak?

  • @foxboy3000 The chip isn't really a mic. I misunderstood a bit of my research. That chip helps to translate the analogue input from a mic and converts it into something that the wii can understand.

  • @foxboy3000: So Nintendo can make fat stacks of loot.

  • @foxboy3000 imgane the wii go bitch move it like this then ure like WTF? :0

  • my wii bluetooth broke...

  • thats an amazing video, so much to learn in less than 4 min! and it was so descriptive i learned so much

  • I thought the accelerometer is bigger.

  • hey can you show how the nun chuck works please? or the connection between the two? cause my wii keeps saying my nunchuck and wiimote are disconnected when they aint. could you like show how t fix that without buying a new wiimote or nunchuck?

  • wow this is great

  • so how does the Wii use the WiiMote Mic? Do special games have that? I don't understand why Nintendo didn't do that for the console. It would be a big competitor to kinect.

  • would it be possable to screw with some one if you were able to shine a laser pointer into the wii remote? as a way of it mistaking a I.R. light

  • theoretically yes. but it would be difficult. you cant just point the light at the wiimote, the wiimote would have to see the source of the light, and it doesnt have a very large scope

  • @TheTowerBarron lol i just tryed it when my friend was playing world at war it does work but i could only get it to work once or twice a minute but it seemed pretty easy for the remote to correct its self though so it would only effect it for maybe a second or 2 max but later when i tryed taping a laser pointer to the sensor bar it made the wii hand cursor flip out

  • @IXDEATHX1

try lighting a really big candle and place it in between the wiimote and the sensor bar if you really want to fuck with someone. The wiimote freaks out since the candles I.R light is stronger than the sensor bar.

  • its cool cause u can see the infer red lights on my phones camera

  • amazing video :)

  • u should do a vid like this but explaining the wii motion plus

  • do an update with wii motion plus

  • Very nice very nice....................

  • wow

  • The control just floats the whole time

  • this is an amazing video man

    thanks for the info

    keep it up!

  • Awesome! Where did you get all your information from?

  • Awesome explanation :D

  • I've just grabbed a Wii Fit Video Game System entirely FREEEE . See my profile to find out my little known tip!

  • hmm that was very good info, thank you i never knew the wii mote did so much

  • This is like the best video I have ever seen. Great job. Plus I love seeing the inside of the Wii remote too.

  • Is there a way to turn the volume down or off on the remote??

  • @JennyferJ99 yeah via the home screen

  • Hmm.... I forget this thing had a microphone in it.

Though, I'm remembering that it was dis-proven to be a microphone..... I could be wrong.

  • This is why Wii sold more than PS3. Wii OWNS!

  • Using the bluetooth chip, the Wii remote can be connected to a computer as well, and all kind of amazing possibilities open up. I didn't know it had a microphone built in too. With the speaker and the microphone that means that it could be programmed to make skype calls, or do Yahoo chatting.

  • I LOVE NINTENDO!!!!!

    AWESOME

    incredible controller !

i feel proud to have Wii! actually

  • That's a very cool explanation. Great presentation on how the Wii remote works.

  • WOW, noone has ever explained this before!

  • virtual reality rules!

  • great video!

  • Awsome video.i only have one question i dropped my wii pad accidentally n it doesent work ,what could be wrong.n can i fix it myself.thanx

  • @mickieftw You have to do a special thing. If you mean you lost your other wiimote, you can still play 2player. You just cant both people play at the same time. Now im going to let you figure out how to do it.

  • very aweosme vid!

  • Wow. I will never look at my wiimote the same way again.

  • i decored mine whit a sonichu motive, sonichu is the product of my shitty imagination and my autistic mental block

  • Wow. I will never look at my wiimote the same way again.

  • He says "acute" at 1:33 and "obtuse" at 1:37.

  • Great video man. I love this. One question though though. If the angle is what? What is said on 1:33 and 1:37? English is not my first language, and it'd be great if someone could help me out.

  • Great Video man.

  • at 2:40 you can see the lights from a camera or camera phone, it is pretty cool but you have to be pretty close to see it

  • This is good video

  • Woah...

  • this must have took you a long time to figure this out by telling us this info

  • If I put a lot of candles around...can i fuck confuse the mote?

  • @joenkike2006 No you can't, as the Wiimote uses infrared LEDs. Candles don't send out infrared light, but any kind of light that does send this out would indeed confuse the mote.

  • @Psoewish Candles do indeed send out infrared light, infact they send out heaps of it.

  • Oh really? Well I didn't know that. :)

    Thanks for the info!

  • my favorite sensor bar is two candles.

  • Good work. Thanks for such à informative Video.

  • So, what is that shit about gravity setting tilt angle if the IR sensor in the remote detects that ?

  • a wiimote mic?

  • Yeah, like some guy asked, is there any game which uses the wii-motes mic? (GH uses a mic which is plugged into the wii-mote, If I remember correctly)

  • Has anyting been done with that microphone, I havn't seen anything about that.

  • i dont think he is right because why would they release a microphone

  • Ohh that's how it works. I didn't know that about the infrared lights. Interesting!

  • Very Nicely Done...

  • AMAZING!!! VERY VERY WELL DONE!!!

  • HOLY SHIT that was amazing!!!

  • cool!

  • Wow, the `wiimote`is alost more complicated than i though.. (And i´m not the kind of person who doesn´t know anything about technologie and only cares about if it works the way i want it to.)

  • This demonstration was so awesome I always wondered how it works with the IR and now i get it and how it actually catches up everything thx alot for the demonstration maybe u could do one about the nunchuck? =)

  • Wow thats extremely impressive. Thats the most informative and well put toghether video I have seen in a long time! Did you use AutoDesk Maya for the animation? I will be displaying a demonstration of Johnny Lees wiimote project to my college sometime in the next two weeks and I would defintely like to feature this video to let everyone understand how the wii remote works.

  • no i made this using lightwave 3d. But yea you can use this video during your demonstration of course!

  • @jnwpse THAT IS THE SAME EXACT THING I AM DOING! Except I am doing it for my Jr. High class

  • it doesn't detect yaw, does it? Only pitch and bank?

  • only pitch and bank. with the new motion plus it can detect rotational motion almost perfectly. because changing the yaw doesnt change how the wiimote interacts with the vertical forces applied to it by gravity, it cannot.

  • WHO DID THAT IS A GENUIS !!!!!

  • Very nice. I was surprised to hear that there was a potential for sound pickup.

  • ummmm

    what

i got the ending and thats it

  • Are you 7 years old? Goto school and learn common sense jerkwad.

  • soo... theoredically the candle trick should work...

  • Well, yeah ^^

  • lolz, i shal now just buy a wii mote and emulate the entire wii system!!!

  • the wii is just insane

  • Ah-HAH!

Now I know why my webcam can see lights in the sensors of the sensor bar!

  • wow didn't know the wii remote worked like that, my idea of how it worked was way off

  • awesome video. It is amazing you made this yourself. This is gonna help a ton with my speech for school.

  • now all they have to do is get better graphics and games ;) lol

  • Probably the best animated video I have ever seen. I wish all the videos were like this. keep it up man and might as well illustrate space related stuff? :P

  • I would like to subtitle your video, so I will download it, translate&sub and give you the credits

  • this is perfect! Im going to use this in my physics clss! thanks!

  • Why does the WiiMote have both Bluetooth AND Infrared?

  • bluetooth sends information from the wii remote buttons

  • cool, thank you 5*

    =)

  • It's interesting but iwhat he says at the end is a matter of opinion

  • well of course lol but it was a nice way to close it off, no?

  • very interesting. thanks!

  • It's a wonderful job, well done, actually it deserve very more, I'd add it to my and my friends blogs. Congratulations

  • this explains everything for me.

  • best, most informative video I have ever seen. So you made all the animations and stuff by yourself? Impressive!

  • can any1 help me out,im in a sticky situation,i got a wii bout 1 week ago with1 control, and this weekend i got a nother one except i dont no how to conect it to my wii can some1 plz help

  • yea, there should be a little red button in the door on the front of the console and inside the wiimote battery cover. they let you sync up your controller to the wii

  • thanks man. i was totaly clules.

  • Great vid but you should add that the distance the IR camera sees between the sensor bar lights is related to how far the Wii Remote is from the screen.

Also the "audio translator" a/d converter you mentioned, what is it connected to? Does it have its own mic element, is it connected to the internal speaker, or even the expansion port? I didn't know it existed and now I'm curious.

  • This deserves so many more views.

  • I agree thanks :D

  • exelent work!

I'd like to try that game you showed

  • 2:26

  • Only if the games they make now weren't so girly

    i'd buy one.

  • Great animation!

  • u cann see wii cam at the options on the wii menu

  • Chad Tower is the LOVE of my life.

i am extremely proud of you baby :)

    i love you xoxox

  • chad tower is the coolest guy in the world THANKS FOR LIGHTWAVE

    peace bitch

  • Does the Nunchuck has a position sensor?

  • the nunchuck just has the accelerometer, no infra red camera. so sorry no dual pointers :P they should make a game where you use 2 wiimotes though, that would be cool

  • it's just too bad it has a dead zone for tilting, it's not they're fault though. It can't detect tilts on the y axis, which is why the sensor bar comes in handy. stupid physics only having gravity in one direction

  • man ur smart, and not just smart smart, i mean telekenisis smart

  • Great!

  • great video 5 stars (i took it appart but couldn't figure out what the peices are) thanks
