  • I love the faces Justin XD

  • @FilGee100, you do realize that he is playing a soft Metallica song, this aint master of puppets. So a fender is jut fine for this song, Omar.

  • @Beatthemeat12

I guess. I don't know why i just don't like fender guitars, Nothing personal you understand :)

  • @FilGee100 How can you say you hate Fenders? Even if it's not the type of guitar you personally like to play, the telecaster was the first mass produced electric guitar and is responsible for making them available to ordinary people like you and me. You can't make a sweeping statement like you hate all Fenders, as though say a blacktop strat is the same as a vintage jazzmaster. And Hammett plays roadworn strats, you can see one in the I Disappear video.

  • @BandwannaMcGunner

Sorry man just don't like em' I never have. Some of the bands i like play fenders, but i hav'nt liked em' since i first played one when i was a teenager. I'#ve deleted the comment so as not to insult anyone :)

  • This is the first solo I'm learning. Justin you make the best lessons. They are very easy to follow, well shot, well thought out and broken down into pieces that I can absorb. I've learned a lot from your website over the past month. You spread a little happiness throughout the world. People like you make it a better place. Thank you very much.

  • 3:21 "James" ..ooops

  • @TheBfutgreg Actually James plays this solo

  • @MagneticStratocaster Oh that's cool, I knew he did the mini-solo in the interlude in master of puppets, but not this

  • how much cost guitar?

  • Dude, you play it really weird, it doesn't sound like the actual solo at all!

  • @bboyexplode Dunno what song you're listening to man, but it's perfect.

  • @Koroar I'm listening to Nothing Else Matters - Metallica, and this one is far from perfect man...

  • 4 morons think that the guitar the guy is using really matters on the greatness of this lesson. Thanks man! Helped me a lot! =D

  • at the end of the solo, with the hammer-on/flickoffs at the 14th and 15th fret, I am struggling with the slide back to the 12th. I can´t get that note loud and clear. I think I need some more flickoff practice :)

  • Hey Justin. You are a great teachet but I think that end of is this solo you have explained very quickly. Please try it again and slowly.

  • Hey Justin could you do a tutorial of Sum 41's fat lip??

  • Uhm i meant 12/14 on the D-string , after the bit on the G-string

  • Hi Justin , thank you very much for yet another great lesson :D

I was trying to play along but a small bit in the beginning did not sound quite right , the bit from 0.13m to 0.16m and 1.19m to 1.41m sound more like sliding

    G 12/11 12p11/9 /11

    D 13/15

  • Best lesson on the net. 5 starz.

  • great vid... i might use this solo to get over my wierd fear of soloing... my fingers just wont behave so started learning alot of scales and macking up my own little solo riffs around them but it would be good to finally play one. thanx for lesson.

  • Please make a tutorial on either 'One' or Fade to Black :D

  • Justin, I'm a big fan, but you kinda did some mistakes. :( sorry.

  • @SuperCatastrofa @SoL2Squiz : please tell me where, I just listened again, and I don't hear any mistakes, so please enlighten me! I copied the studio version btw, not the live one!

  • @JustinSandercoe at minute 1.19, it's 14, 12, 11, 12 on the G string. then, I think that on the E string, it's not a bend from the 15th to the 17th, but a slide. (14s15, 12, 14s15, 14,15s17)

I think the rest is alright.:)

  • i'm sorry but i think this one is way off. it sounded different

  • what about the clean solo?? you didn't mentioned it

  • @Ema090194

Hey, the clean solo isn't that hard. I can play it along with the song itself, and I can't say that for the rest of the song. You should just find the tabs for it on some tab site (I recommend ultimate-guitar). There's only one big stretch in it and all the other stuff is pretty easy!

  • @kiger08 I know that it's an easy solo...I already knew how to play this song but I like watching this tutorials so I can see if I do some mistake because I learn songs by ear (i rarely use tabs)

  • @Ema090194 Its in the first video. He shows the whole song in three videos and this is the third one.

  • Hey justin after the solo there is a little guitar part that i love but you didn't mentioned it, so I transcribed it and it is:

    12 h 15 p 12 (on the B string), , /11, 9 h11 p 9 (on the G string)

I know it's probably wrong but I enjoy playing this sequence.

    Justin you are my hero!!

  • @TheKillerFabivs first half is good, second half you stay on the b string. 12 h 15 p12 then (Doug Boduch) /7 /5 h7 p5, (Danny Gill) or 9/7 h9 p7. I've seen both used, by those instructors, and they match up pretty close to the recording. doug you have to really look for (copyright infringement) but Danny is on lick library and easy to find.

  • I'm so jealous of how well you can do vibrato on bended notes. Sounds tasty

  • 4:25 awesome

  • @JustinSandercoeSongs Hey Justin, tried to tweet you, doesnt seem to work. I was wondering what a pro like you is practising in his "free time". I'm like intermediate, I can transcribe songs that are not too tricky, I play and sing along with the acoustic a lot and I can improvise quite freely. But I havent practised in the last time and I wanna get my chops back. What would be a good practise shedule?

  • did he skip the interlude part?

  • J.S you got to be the best teache on the tube, awesome lesson

  • C5 is C and G. which are present in all 5 modal and altered E minor scales ( Natural, Dorian, Phrygian, Harmonic and Melodic) Some of the notes make no traditional sense, and can be described as chromatic; but the truth is that it 'is what it is!' Blues makes no sense theoretically anyway.

  • @KSGCards yes the notes are present but the chord isnt doesnt go with the dorian mode... E natural minor has all the notes in the solo and goes with the progression in the song... so this doesnt involve any chromaticism... blues does have theory... and a lot of it... i dont know what music books you've been reading but you've picked out the cheap ones i am guessing

  • Looks almost completely Dorian I think.

  • @Bluebuthappy182 Except for the chromatic run and it adds a B note somewhere

  • @Bluebuthappy182 i'm sorry, an A# note. The 'blue' note

  • @Bluebuthappy182 its the E natural minor scale... Em dorian does not go with C5...

  • Great solo by Hetfield this time!

  • Gonna take a while for me to learn the solo, but it's always worth it when it's all over and you can jam it out.

  • 4:24 ooooow xD yeah I'm not that fast, unfortunately

  • @Linkinaddict88 Just use the rhythm lesson ( 2/3 ) and use the simple strumming pattern and record yourself going through the verse sequence once slower than full speed. and then play along at a slower speed ;)

  • For someone who considered himself too old to hear metallica, a few years ago, you did absolutely great!

  • Also for the people who wanna know the power chord sequence which is played with the solo on the record: It's an open E5 to an E5 on the seventh freth of the A-string, then move down two frets to a D5 and then two frets below that one to an C5. Repeat this three times and then go to a G5 and end it with a B5 power chord. This can also be played in the verse.

  • @NewMetallica That's correct only it ends with an open E5 power chord after the B5 :)

  • on 3:08 is it possible to play the A note on the E string with a slide from the G note, because im not hearing the bend , besides i dont see kirk bend that note in any of his live performances.

  • @alifawad1994 of course its possible...its the same note

  • @alifawad1994 this is how I always played it as well. Also in 2:52 I always play the 2 notes from 14th to 12th fret.

  • Thanks for your lessons Justin, but too bad you let the middle part of the song out. It's quite easy nevertheless so hope everyone can find that out by themselves.

  • @NewMetallica I'm sure he did that to encourage people to learn by ear.

  • Thanks a lot for the great lesson.

  • Guitar solos FTW!

    GUITAR AND SOLO!!!

  • nevermind I'll find it.. Im gonna download this
