As an American, I think the best scenario is a single nation with Palestinians and Israelis living together in New Palestine (or Israelestine). The government will have a Palestinian majority, which should help to keep them safe.

It still does not make sense to me why Palestine can not be recognized as a state given how long Israel has been demanding to be seen as one.
US veto will only confirm they will side with Israel, not a 2 state solution. Everytime there is a Israel-Gaza war civilians die, I remember Condalizza R. saying she would not tell Israeli bombardment in Lebanon and Gaza in 2006.
