  • Excellent video Brian. Have you ever worked on any Alfa Romeos? My 79 spider is a completely different ball game from any vehicle I've worked on. Odd vehicles!

  • @Boasandpythons I have worked on a couple of them. They do things a bit different. It takes patience, but they're reasonable enough.

  • excellent video! I've been told changing the PCV valve on a Subaru 2.5 is more important than usual due to high pressure build up causing head gaskets to fail. I have a 2007 Impreza OBS with 74,000 that now has an external head gasket leak. I didn't know where to find the PCV valve but thanks to your video I can change it on my own and hopefully prevent any future disasters.

  • @porsche558 Thanks for your kind words. Good luck!

  • thanks dude its a great video

  • @chichobelo22 You're welcome- glad you thought so.

  • good stuff dude thanks!

  • Anyone know what kind of filter that is,between :18 & :23 seconds, it's round, white stems at both ends, that go into hoses. And it's Black in the middle. Maybe 3 Inches total length,

  • i couldn't find that thing for nothing the other impreza lol

  • Thanks mate, this was really helpful! I was getting abit confused between the N/A and turbo of where it is.

  • @taza11659 You're most welcome!

  • Awesome video! Thanks for all these videos. I hope i can bother you with a question as i am sure many others do. A friend has a 95 impreza wagon that i am thinking of buying. It is very slow from the take off but when it gets up some rpms it runs great and speedy. (195,000 miles) It throws a knock sensor and EGR and cat converter. Do you think it is easy to fix the slow problem and is the car worth 1500ish?

The body is pretty good and interior is good enough.

Thanks again and i subbed :)

  • @ShoeManShoe68 That's decent for this area I live in. They're gold here because of the snow.

  • @ShoeManShoe68 I had a Catalytic Converter Code and a Knock Sensor code and replacing the Knock Sensor cleared both. The Catalytic Converter threw a code first P0420, the knock sensor showed up later P0325. I was really surprised how much better the car ran. This was on a 2000 Impreza 2.5rs (175k miles).

I think I would replace the Knock Sensor($80-130), PCV valve($2-10), and Front O2 sensor(~$150) on any used Subaru I pick up. As of now I've replaced all three and the car is running well.

  • Hey Brian I own a 2002 Subaru Legacy and I wanted to know your thoughts about my problem. My car recently has had sluggish take-offs and sometimes at low rpm (seems to be occuring more often now) starts to jerk and act like it is not getting fuel or losing fuel pressure what do you suggest? I recently changed the plugs and the fuel filter thanks to your videos. any help you could give would be much appreciated.

  • @R3dR1ot366 How many miles are on it?

  • @briansmobile1 it has 93,000

  • @R3dR1ot366 Sounds like either a contaminated Mass Air Flow Sensor or a failing ignition coil.

  • @briansmobile1 thanks man i will check it out and let you know how it goes

  • hey Brian I got a 93 subaru liberty(legacy) sedan with auto trans. My car has a high pitch noise from the engine bay whenever the car is in idle or accelerate to 2000rpm. After 2000 rpm, the noise is gone. Is it caused by a vacuum leak? or timing belt idler not working well? I couldn't really find out the precise spot where the sound from. Because it is too loud

    Thanks

  • @williamcheung325 Sounds like a loose alternator belt.

  • Hey Brians, I hope u can help me. Where is the PCV Valve on my JETTA 2000 Vr6 / 12v. I do a little of research, and some people that the PCV is with the AIR INTAKE TUBE, is this TRUE?. So if I want to change the PCV Valve, I have to Change all the AIR INTAKE TUBE?. Thanks for this Videos...

  • @oreno11 I don't know man.

  • Briansmobile/ thanks for the reply and the video. Its a shame how complicated engineers make theses newer cars....

  • @texcali85 It's politics that they are this complicated for sure. On the one hand they are required to burn a certain amount of gas or they get heat from the oil companies. On the other the government requires them to be clean burning. Enter the catalytic converter and oh so many emissions non-sense devices that counter what would be possible with an evap gas vapor fuel system.

  • I have a question about the PCV valve system on a 2002 Saab 9-5, I found the actual part that goes into the valve cover but even new, its hollow. Is it possible that Saab makes an in line pcv valve?

  • @texcali85 Of course it's possible. I don't know for sure. I wish I could tell you.

  • New subscriber here, gotta say, I love your teaching style. You make it easy and your humor is a great bonus. I am a

  • @scarhead8711 Thanks for subscribing- hope you enjoy the vids!

  • i know what you mean but your not that boring to watch,ha ha ,i quite injoy it but yesterday was a drag, out looking for a new ride cus my knee was busted almost 2 years ago and cant walk far ,so got a 93 peugeot cheap and hope it holds a while

  • I will be doing this next week! thanks B your the best:)

  • @prodriver1 You bet.

  • what does it do, and what is it shortned of, pcv

  • @transdetendal You know I meant to narrate that and forgot! It's P.ositive C.rankcase V.entilation. You're pistons are moving at a high rate of speed and there would otherwise be an imbalance in air flow within the motor. To balance that you have hoses from your valve covers and to the air filter box so air can rotate through the engine and not create aerodynamic drag from piston movement.

  • @briansmobile1 thanx for the answer , im into how it worcks but not what they are in english and got a bit tired and confused

  • @transdetendal Some of my most valued learning made me tired and confused first ; )

  • @transdetendal Wikipedia have a great description of the history of the PCV system and how it all works. It's basically a system designed to recycle blow-by gasses that get past rings and into the crankcase. Old (1950's) cars just had a breather tube that allowed those hydrocarbons to drip and vent to atmosphere. But those gasses account for almost a majority of pollution from vehicles, so GM invented the PCV system and shared it with all....

  • @spelunkerd That's awesome- thanks for posting. Have you noticed some laser pointer use? That was your idea. ; )

  • @briansmobile1 Yup, cool.
