  • This is still my favorite knife of all time. Glad I bought one when I did

  • @devouringfate Totally agree. I have not found a knife that beats this one yet. This knife never got enough attention. How a knife like the SOG Tomcat (a very good knife) can stay in production for 25+ years and the Benchmade Rukus (at least equally good if not better) goes out of production, I don't understand. I got the winewood scales for mine while those were available. It is just a great all around knife.

  • The 2008 Benchmade catalogue I have describes the 610 as having an "Auto-Axis" locking mechanism, but this doesn't seem to have one - right?

  • @CNCTEMATIC The knife only had the Axis lock. Not sure what the "auto" designation is. The Axis lock as you see it on this video was the way the knife was produced. Those lucky ones got their hands on one before it was discontinued.

  • @wwwknivestowncom Thanks very much for your reply. I'm in Australia. A local store has a few new 610's... for $450!! We generally get ripped for knives down here, but that seemed too high so I wondered if it was an auto.

Benchmade do have an "Auto-Axis" on many of their auto knives if you look at the Pro catalogue, BTW. You pull it back and out comes the blade. Dunno why they put that in the old catalogue I have tho.

Anyway thanks again for the information Bob.

  • Hmm the best knife I have ... well i have the rukus and 3 mini rukuses ;-) But I modified the minirukus a bit so you can more easy open it with a single hand movement without using your fingers. I cary it around for 3 years now, use it every day. And it is easy to make lefthanded ...

  • I'm trying to buy this knife but no one has it. I would love to have it, can anyone tell me if u have seen it on any web site? Thanks

  • @TheKnifehunter Benchmade discontinued this knife, but I would recommend you look on the secondary market. I own one and got the winewood scales for it when those were available. I love the knife and consider it about as close to the "perfect knife" as it gets IMO. Keep looking, if you find one it is worth grabbing.

  • Hey.. cool review. You give nutnfancy a run for his money LOL!

  • Very complete review. Has anyone ever told you you have a great voice? Seriously like a radio personality or someone like that. It really does make a difference when watching this video. Thx a bunch.

  • Sweeet , I've been admiring this knife since it came out, maybe I should pick one up.

  • I really enjoy your videos, but I sure wish your video quality was sharper.

  • I just ordered one, at last ! It is expensive so I was hesitating to make the step!

Now I can't wait to handle the beast !

    Nice video, 5/5 !

  • very nice in-depth review. Thank you for showing the axis lock in such detail. good job! 5*

  • Nice review, keep em coming.

    5/5

    Check out my channel.

  • The screws that are under the G-10 hold the two scales together (they hold both sides of the handles together) There are three long stainless steel uncoated screws under the G-10. The thing I find a little funny is that Benchmade put some threadlock on the two (EXTRA) screws that are on the reverse side of the clip. So you get an extra pair of clip screws incase you loose one. Most other knives only give you a knife with holes drilled in it and no screws in the holes, nice touch Benchmade!

  • Yeah but the clips are HORRIBLE on these things. just got a 615 and I'm already trying to trade it.

  • pm me!!

  • I like mine too, it is a knife that has grown on me a lot. I EDC it it is NOT too large to EDC as I have seen many people post. It is a large knife but it rides in my Levis pocket so well I don't even know it's there until I reach and feeel for it. Also the screws backed out of mine as do many Benchmade screws. They were the screws that were under the G-10 scales so I had to remove all of the Micarta and G-10 and then put blue threadlocker on all 14 screws....

  • Very good review

  • What a badass knife, I think Benchmade knives are very high quality. THis one has a beautiful blade, awesome handle, it's an all around beauty. I like the size! Really looks quality across the board. Great review, thanks.

  • What do you think of the mini version? It looks to be similar to the CRKT M4 in size.

  • Well done.

    Benchmade has class.

  • Best review on this knife on youtube so far. But I might have missed it but i think you left out how you can change the micarta scales

  • Yes, you are right. Thanks for reminding me. So much to talk about with this knife that detail slipped past me. There are replacement scales that can be used to replace the micarta for cosmetic preference. One set is winewood and looks very nice. I might get those myself. You can also get G-10 and I think carbon Fiber as well.

    Thanks

  • I also forgot to mention in the review that the knife is a low rider thanks to the high mounted pocket clip. Another plus in my book.

  • Benchmade doesn't offer the carbon fiber scales anymore just the Winewood and black G-10. It's a shame really, a black blade Rukus with carbon fiber scales looks just wicked.

    Great Review btw

  • excellent review mate! i was just wondering how you find the clip? It the clip ok?

  • The clip is good. It does provide for a low ride in the pocket. The only complaint I had is the tension was a little loose, so I took it off and gave it a slight bend and now it is properly tight.

  • Please review the Mini-Rukus and compare it with the Full size Rukus. Thanks

  • Awesome review!!!!!!!
