From my research, after Hiroshima was hit by the first A-bomb, there were peace overtures that were sent out....but through the Soviets! The Soviets delayed the messages so they had more time in taking Manchuria, Korea and the Sakhalin Island chain. Don't know if this "peace" message included a surrender.

i come from austria and i have to say that the germans (germans as well as austrians in that case) chose the regime, because of stavation after WWI. they needed a economical boom. but you have to keep in mind that everybody killed in war (sowjets, americans, britsh as well as french) and we have to suffer today as well :( the one who wins the war, writes history! i don't say something about this "crime" and what i really think about these camps....

the most of the jewish who were killed were germans evn the ones who fought in ww1 for germany. this is sad...very sad. i know holocaust was very bad believe me in know it but the most of the german regular army, im not talking about tha fuckin SS, were normal people. people like you and me who believed in fighting for their country even if the war was bad...this is in no case wrong. think of the iraq war which is bad but the soldiers do their duty because they belieb in devending their homeland

Thank you for this video. But I'm always missing one very important fact: The reason for all this was nothing but greed for money and the idea of beeing the "biggest conqueror". Seems to be a very simple and cruel way of thinking: "Kill, take the money and have a good time".
The arguments of the leaders for the germans at that time had been something like an advertising campaign: The right arguments for a certain time and target group (the germans).

It was propaganda. Hitler saw that the country was in a state of desperation. German currency was worth almost nothing and the country was in a major depression; the states aren't bad right now but they're heading towards it. Sadly, one of the best ways to counteract depression is to wage a war, since it gets the economy going. It also has the power to screw it up, as we've seen. Hitler was a very screwed up, but very intelligent man. He used propaganda to convince germany that he was right.
