I think something got lost after the cultural differences between Japan and US, because I don't really get the commercial. But then, it is not created for an audience like me in mind.
It is a rather odd choice of commercial. Mac and Work sort of rhyme in Japanese, and they're both regularly referred to as PCs. And most of the Mac usage I've seen has been serious work... Perhaps they're trying to create a division.
Actually, I think it's a sense of familiarity. In Japan, close friends are called by their real names or nicknames. I think it's all got to do with the idea that "Mac" (his nickname) is easy to get along with and friendlier.
In the UK and US versions PC (aka MS's Windows, because as the commercial pointed out, Mac is a PC too) is portrayed as a buggy, work only, machine. It's to appeal to the consumer public (which is obvious since it would be kind of dumb to advertise for corporate machinery on consumer media)
@colliric Which is the main reason I don't have a MAC, also if MAC works just like the iPhone (still a nice phone though), I will never have a MAC. Apple made sure of that.
@colliric It sounded like, and I just checked, a video edit program. It's the only program where I haven't gotten a good Windows replacement for. I downloaded Adobe CS4 Pro or whatever, but that program drives me crazy and it doesn't support all the codecs I use for video and audio. But the free stuff is crap too >.>
it's still the best video editing program on the market.
Pinnacle Liquid was my fav PC one, but on my pc at the time it was very slow to use...
It was bought by avid and renamed Avid Liquid. then they killed it because they already had a pro editing program(Media Composor)... sad really it was the best PC one in my opinion.
who came up with "Mac" as a name anyway? I know its short for Macintosh, but seriously? Macintosh? What a BAD name for a computer. bad computer, bad name. lol.

Wow, the Japanese are great, they actually explained that a Mac is actually a PC, too, but everyone just calls him a Mac. NICE!

I have to disagree, because PC's are not just for business. They are also for home use and entertainment, as well as Macs.

yeah usually aquaintances use the san tag at the end of a name like kelsey san
but close friends just use their full name or make a nickname

funny thing Is I may have a mac one day... I was a Final Cut Pro addict once... and it's not on PC yet.

@colliric That sucks, you happen to know a good video editing program for the PC? Preferably for free :P
tiaxanderson 1 year ago
@tiaxanderson
just make sure you get a professional level one.
Most free video editing programs are of the Imovie, Windows Movie Maker, non professional sort...
I'm looking into CineFX myself at the moment...
