Last year the song made me go nuts after awhile, so did that stupid dodge ram truck commercial. This years will probably have the same affect, minus the marketing from dodge because Chrysler is heading for the "D" (dumpster)

not only did they swipe the idea from Slight Return, but it would have been much nicer seeing the blue collar Detroit band that wrote the song representing the D not some hollywood band. i guess it makes these big corporations feel good to scam local bands!! luckily WDFN, the number one Detroit sports radio station has been playing the real "welcome to the d" on the postgame show after the Piston games!!!!

This song is a rip-off of "Welcome to the D", which is a song that my friend's band Slight Return has been playing here in Detroit for years. "Welcome to the D" has already been featured on Sports Radio am1130. The music maybe different, but the lyrics are suspiciously similar. Obviously, the budget for making the "April in the D" video is gonna be much better than that of a small local band like Slight Return. But Slight Return submitted "Welcome to the D" to the Detroit Red Wings last year and the Red Wings management said Slight Return would have to relinquish all rights to the song for the Red Wings to use it. Slight Return refused. Next thing you know, a similar concept called "April in the D" comes out advertising all the Detroit teams. Sure sounds fishy.
