@Feanor2345 I agree that Anette isn't as good as Tarja, but she is a hell of a good singer. Check her singing Meadows of Heaven live in orchestral version and you'll see what I mean. I loved Tarja's voice in studio version but not live. I always thought she tried to sing a little bit more poppy and not in her opera range and so she failed with technique. Now, all videos of her singing the Oceanborn album live were amazing. She stood still so that her voice projected more. :) They are both good.

Tarja start sing softer after Wishmaster album because Tuomas ask that her. Tuomas wanted to take Nightwish a more commercial direction and thought that Tarja's opera voice is too much a mainstream audience. But in live Tarja use more her opera voice.

There is no old or new Nightwish, they are the same with just a different singer that is not even good, if Tarja was still the singer, the newest album would still sound like the "old" Nightwish because the 4 musicians, the composers of all what Nightwish is, are still the same, there are no new additions (for music, not for voice), there are no new influences and there is no change of musical direction.

If Nightwish was just instrumental, we´d realize that they still sound the same.

Tarja = classically trained singer (soprano) who has studied classical singing very long time (since she was 6 years old)

and studied Sibelius Academy in Finland and Karlsruhe'nin Music University in Germany.

Original singer in Nightwish, outstanding live singer. strong , trained voice.

Anette = No trained singer. before NW, sung by an unknown Swedish pop/rock (AA) amateur band.

Bad live singer, weak voice, can not sing NW old songs.
