  • Wow - how can you stretch your fingers so far?! I tried making a low C and my hands weren't up to it so keep on cutting the pipe and made an E and F to go with my Howard low D.

  • sounds like forest rhapsody by you xue zhi. go listen to it and you'll see what i mean ^.^ i love both tunes of course <3

  • Mr Hatao... How much is this whistle? I cannot begin to imagine how much nor how one could afford such a thing.

  • Oo... amazing

  • This sound is magical <3 <3 <3

  • That's actually a fiddle he's standing next to.

  • THAT WS GREAT, THANKS

  • i cant hear anything? :(

  • A beautiful whistle, and wonderfully played. I wish I could hear it in person. I'd love to have a whistle in that key. :') encore!

  • Thank you everyone!

  • Maan, I just loved this.. And other of your clips. Anyway..This i master piece, right there. Keep up. Bless!

  • oh...so long

  • I've got a low D whistle and its a pain in the neck to play because of the wide spaced finger holes. and as any recorder or whistle player knows, If the holes are not completly covered up while fingering it will squeek and won't play. I can't imagine playing a bass whistle unless they had actual keys on it.

  • beautiful!!!! that is one Huge whistle!!! well done.. that's gotta take a lot of hand stamina :)

  • you didnt find longer flute ?

    its to small !!!!

  • Gorgeous!

  • What places can you buy a OVERTON LOW D or other keys whistle please?

  • where abouts in ireland did you learn to play the tin whistle ?(can you play concertina?)

  • Foggy Dew - Irish Folk Song

"Thank you, Hatao. I will continue to listen and learn from your excellent musicianship."

  • OH, sorry, I leave message in the wrong video....... I know this is overton whistle, I wanna ask the question in another video...

  • who knows which tin whislte did he use? overton?

  • nice. and magic.. like the spirit of the wind... NAMASTE

  • so the tune name? The Foggy Dew?

  • Yeah.

  • i would liek to do this song on a high whistle but i cant find the right whistle. dos anyone have any idea i sometimes here those realy clear and high whistles but i dont know wich one it is

  • @maarhoefe To play this song like hatao does, you would need a G whistle. Either a high G, but those often sound a bit shrill in my opinion, or a low G whistle.

  • ok low whistles are to expensive for me

  • Congrats Hatao! Beautifully played! Never heard this low key overton before, and it makes me want it SOOOOoooo bad. Thanks for your post!

  • OVERTON

    OVERTON

    OVERTON

    OVERTON

By the way, I WANT and OVERTON Bass G!

  • GOLDIE!!! :D

  • @didjeridoo7 Yeah, that is what I said. Goldie and Overton are the same.

  • It's Scottish Ballad :):)

  • Irish. About the 1916 rising.

  • good interpretation of The Foggy Dew! bravo!

  • You must have large flexible hands to play the bass G that is all I can say. I think that I will stay with the low D!!!

  • really very nice

  • awesome playing. I'll have to buy me a tin whistle now ;)

  • Sugoooiii!! Hatao-san, sugoidesneee!

  • THe reason you get lightheaded or pass out while playing the flute is not due too how much air the flute requires, but due to the fact that beginners use far too much air, as well as aren't used too the breathing pattern.

  • Tht's a big whistle

  • Can this guy play every instrument on the face of the earth? He should play the tulum

  • that's AWESOME

  • you must have lungs of superman himself to play it so easly

  • este tio es buenisimo

  • holy crap you have the biggest hands ever

  • LOVE IT!!!!WOW :O)

  • thank you for being able to play that whistle.

  • the whistle would be made better with keys. Its just so huge that playing it is difficult.

  • Haha. No kidding. I tried to play one of my friend's bass whistles and besides my hands just being too small, I nearly passed out from the insane amount of air it required. I'll stick to my high D.

  • You think that's bad...trying being a tubist. That takes a TON of air.

  • GO TUBAS BABY NO ONE CAN HANG WITH US!!!!!!! lol

  • It is a common misconception that the tuba requires more air than any other wind instrument, because of its size. Spend a few minutes on flute and, after you pass out and wake up, you might feel differently. Try it!

  • Haha, I'm a flute and I so know what you mean. The first time I played I was out for good five minutes. LOL

  • Pure magic!!!

  • whoa... its sounds beautiful definitely, but i think one must have huge hands to even try to play that!

  • it's a great instrument and played brilliantly! Very mellow and soothing sound.

  • What song is this?

  • the foggy dew

  • Thanks. :)

  • My names Michael, and I'm from far back in the hills of Kentucky, and I remember my dad playing floke music when I was but a small boy, I grew up on stuff like this. I' looking to buy a bass whistle, I think this is the most soothing music I ever heard, and makes me think of home. Hey Hatao,,, Keep that pastion going in you're blood.. :)

  • This guy is amazing, and that whistle is huge.

  • oh dude, i gotta get me one of them

  • What is this tune? Really amazing!!! Congratulations man you play very good the irish music.

  • Name I've seen by is The Foggy Dew.

  • Its the Foggy Dew by the Cheiftains sung by a girl who is beautiful and has a beautiful voice.

  • Aye, Sinead O'Connor has a beautiful voice, but the Chieftans aren't responsible for this song. It was written by Peadar Kearney.

  • I am hearing the music and it feels friendly for me, until you made me remember that I already heard in the Chieftains´s CD with friends and the Sinead O´Connor voice.

Nice, very nice hatao. Chapeau for u!

From the Pampas and the Tangoland.

    *****

  • I love your playing, but as I suffer from stubby fingers will never be able to play that instrument. Having ET's fingers must be great help.

  • his fingers are indeed scarily long and thin.

    beautiful playing nonetheless :) 5*

  • i have never heard of a bass whistle but i like it :) you are very good. are they stuck in one key?

  • All whistles are holed so that they play one major scale and its relative minor.

  • you can also play the minor 2nd and the major 4th scales by cross fingering the flat 7, and any related modes :)

  • Ja vohl, fellow music nerd. Thanks for expanding, didn't feel like explaining all that in one go at the time.

  • Yup this is the foggy dew.

I love the sound of these bass flutes

  • Great! I've always loved the sound of low instruments, this is no exception :)

    > develope such a love and talent for it?

Yes,Irish music is well known in Japan

and not a few people love to play.

I took a tin whistle 8 years ago by the influence of movie "Titanic",and flew to

Ireland for a half year, studied music at the

    summer schoolds.

  • @hatao

Great Job Sir With The Foggy Dew.......

(Please,Can I Ask You What Was Your Favourite Irish Tune To Play And Hear?)

  • That's one HUGE whistle!

  • "As down the glen one Easter morn, to a city fair rode I,

    There armed lines of marching men in squadrons passed me by;

No pipes did hum, no battle drum did sound it's loud tattoo,

But the Angelus bell o'er the Liffey swell rang out in the foggy dew."

  • Nice sound

  • What a great lovely tune! Congratulations.

  • To nice,. that is a realy nice song,.!!

  • Whoww what a great instrument!! Didn´t know they came in this low tunings (ehh sorry for spelling) Where do you get/buy such a whistle??

  • Brilliant!!

  • This is one of my favorite Irish tunes. Are you familiar with it's words, it's a great tune. Is Irish music popular in Japan? How did you develope such a love and talent for it?

  • The Foggy Dew

  • First time I have seen such an instrument. Wonder if it si anatomical difficult to cover (or half cover) the tone holes with middle segment of the second and third finger.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • beautiful! I've never seen that before!
