  • All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu.

  • Corridors of Darkholme.

  • How could you dislike this?...

  • i have this music in OSU! xD

  • My 2nd favorite song on the game

  • @shane8109 what is your #1 song of chrono trigger?

  • @themachine577 Zeal Palace.

  • @SnickieX Well I have one too, but if we make it where fucking is the only thing that matters instead of our minds, we'll b no more different than animals.

  • @MrFavorite01 I heard the DS version is different in some parts. What's new? Do they finally put the Singing Mountain dungeon in it. I can't play it since I don't have a DS. And the App version, is screwed up and won't play.

  • @Hayashirice9111 Yea nowadays ppl r just into the whole 'socialize so u can fuck' mentality. School sucked for me b/c I could c how fake everyone was, I didn't want to deal with them, so I was basically a loner and an outcast. Only talked to those who had a like mind and were themselves loners. Luvd everything about CT, but Zeal was my fav place, too bad u didn't get to stay long.

  • @Kuroneko388 Yep, pretty much. Being in high school now... Yeah you get the story. Everyone is too obsessed with getting attention, it's kinda sad. I honestly don't know who is who anymore except for my friends.

Anyway, Chrono Trigger is my favorite game. Replayed it like 30 times within 2 years just to earn all the endings on both, the SNES and DS versions.

  • @Kuroneko388 And that 'socialize so you can fuck' mentality will hopefully always be there with most people, otherwise neither you nor I would be here. I'm not fake and I'm a loner/outcast from any organized group, and yet I have a girl, who I 'socialize so I can love' :)

  • @0nslaught2383 Wow that's really interesting. It makes me wonder what other cultures did the Japanese put in this game.

  • damn, chrono trigger is a great game

  • I could only say: this game is so freaking awesome, in every way. it's like everything works together, like the graphics, music, gameplay and most of all, plotless storyline.

I like this music, particularly this reminds me of my traditional culture. Anyone from Indonesia would noticed that this bgm was heavily influence from Javanese or Balinese gamelan, which respectively have a legend of a magical kingdom. :)

  • Spirit Tracks much?

  • @mttloebach This game was made a decade before Spirit Tracks you fucking dumbass; longer actually. So maybe you should go to the Spirit Tracks songs and post "Chrono Trigger much?"

  • @SteelToedKilla It's just some of the instruments sound like stuff from Spirit Tracks, and I played it before I did Chrono Trigger (I got my SNES only last year).

  • @mttloebach You should say "Chrono Trigger much?" on a Spirit Tracks video instead. This game came out first as you already know, so it's more likely that the material used in this game is reproduced in Spirit Tracks. Just sayin'. ;)

  • Zeal is my favorite part of the game until it went boom.

  • I've probably played through this game and Super Mario RPG about twenty times total. RPG's on the SNES were the best.

  • This song is so amazing and haunting when i heard this song for the first time playing CT i completely stayed in Zeal for a a very long time

  • Today I turn 19, I was raised on the Sony Playstation 1 and Sega Genesis as well as the Nintendo and Super Nintendo. At the age of 3 I played Zombies ate My Neighbors and to this day Games like this one continue to bring up those few memories of my past that keep me going each and every day. Thank you Chrono Trigger.

  • I love this game so much. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to play it until recently, but I'm so glad I finally got around to it. It exceeded all my expectations.

  • Welcome to the magical kingdom of Zeal, where dreams come true...but at what price?

  • Play it again, Sam.

    buuuwwwaaaahahaahaaa

  • This is critically the best song in the game

  • @mrteemumilto I Agree

  • @mrteemumilto with Saras/Schalas Theme :D

  • Wow, I really have missed something special. I've never played this game and I just stumbled upon this amazing soundtrack. Kind of makes me think what I have missed out on. Though I'll admit that the SEGA Megadrive was a great console to grow up on, I wish I also had a SNES.

Oh well, I guess there are always emulators...

  • @snaiperis99 What are you waiting for then? Go ahead and play it, you won't regret it. It's such an awesome game.

  • @Kaerisse Will do.

  • Every single time I got to this part of the game I let this music play out because of it's inherit beauty.

  • @bad93ex lol same

  • This music makes me think of ArtificialRaven.

  • If we never had Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts would have never existed.

  • @PLURTHEMUSIC Yes, especially since Final Fantasy came out BEFORE Crono Trigger.

  • @MeenToss Crono must have travelled back in time to inspire Final Fantasy.

  • The black wind begins to howl...

  • 8 people are trolls

  • The song got a nice lil funky beat to it. I love Chrono Trigger music

  • Even though the people of Zeal were jerks to non magical humans, I still love how they live on those floating islands.

  • @Bulzeeb15 Yeah. I always made sure to talk to every single person in Zeal. I love the music and the whole place. It's my favorite part of the game.

  • This game music rocks! It is just like professionally published records.

  • Never played this myself or played with myself by myself, but this game had a great tune or two, including this one, my favorite!

  • Reason why Marle is shooting out fire is because she was originally suppost to have fire magic to match her personality and Lucca having Ice, the decided later on after this picture was drawn to switch it around but kept it this way. Also you fight that monster in present time not the future like in the picture :P

  • The main rhythm goes from left to right on my headset, pretty freakin' cool.

  • I loved this game, it's Storyline, plot, characters, battle style, just everything about this game makes it great, if I would have to be put into a game of my choice, it would be here, I would have alot of fun, and maybe even find chrono trigger. I am only 14 though, this game came out before my birth, or the same year.. Anyways, I still replay this game, and I could replay it 1000 times over and still not get bored.

  • For me, when I think of Chrono Trigger I think of this song. I think this song defines what this game is about: unveiling secrets hidden by the mists of time. This entire segment of the game was nothing short of awe and amazement at how advanced the ancients were and how you never expected to find this time zone.

  • This brings me back to a time when life was simple..My mind just moves with the sound~~

  • ZEAL, MOTHERFUCKER, ZEAL!

  • remember firs thime hearing this song. these people thogh they were badass till lavos destroyed them

  • pinkie pie sent me here

  • @AnthonyTheAwesome500

Why has nobody combined this with the instrumental version of at the gala?

  • Herbal tea...zzz...crystals...zzz.

  • at the time, I didnt care that on the off chance that this happened to be the end of the game. This music was worth the price of admission

  • Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as Chrono Trigger. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!

  • This is one of my favorite scores in the game!

  • I've heard this game before but never actually tried it out. Maybe it's because it's not my interest in some sort. Don't get me wrong I don't hate this game, it's just that I might not actually not be good at it.

Anyway this music is amazing! :)

  • my two older brothers who are 1 year apart, and literally went through hell together, loved video games, and ones gone, while the other is far away, they don't say it, but i know they miss each other. this game reminds me of them, cause they always played it together... back when things weren't so complicated.

  • @Gulliman01 wow some ov my best times and fond memories are playing vid games with my brother,at ths time too.probably millions ov people had a shared expierience.take care

  • Same here. My cousin plays CoD and even though I presented him with my favorite game (this one, obviously) he still plays that game. Kids these days... The days of gaming, for me, are only up to DC and PS2. Btw, I'm 23 years old. I've played older and newer games than this one, yet none surpasses it, and I doubt any ever will. It was my favorite game even before I knew that Toriyama and Nobuo were involved. And to whom say I only like old games, my second favorite game is Skies of Arcadia for DC

  • Chrono Trigger was an amazing game. I never knew it until I downloaded it through the Wii Shop Channel. I started playing it and knew I was addicted to it. Every detail of the game was perfect. The music brought me to many memories. The memories brought me to....the bathroom. I play it for awhile and I feel I need a break every now and then. Vote up if you know what I'm talking about. =D

  • I think... Snes version is better than DS version... I don't know why i think that... The DS version makes carry Chrono Trigger everywhere... But Snes version is... Epic...

  • @MyleneDeidara Because it gives you the nostalgic feeling that's why.

  • Being a 17 year old saddens me right now. Why? Well the majority of my school doesn't know the amazing game that is Chrono Trigger. Sadly, everyone knows what Call of Duty is. Why? Why would they buy a repetive shooter that is the same every year?

  • @ANEWPATHWAY They must not get what gaming really is.

  • @PokabuLover123 RPGs are teh suxxorz! Says the CoD fanboys, no really. I've been bashed by people for saying Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games ever.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Ouch...Don't listen to their opinions. My cousin plays CoD but he doesn't know about Chrono Trigger. But my best friend used to play Chrono Trigger. I was shocked when he told me about it. Some people don't like what others like. So that's why we don't listen to them and carry on with what we think.

  • @PokabuLover123 Answer me this: What's so great about CoD? NOTHING! I'd rather pop in Chrono Trigger in my PS2 (I have Chronicles version :/) then put MW2 or Black Ops in my PS3. Hell I re-beat my favorite game of all time today Persona 3 FES for the PS2. I'm a JRPG teen if you can't tell.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY JRPG? I have no idea what that means.

  • @PokabuLover123 Japanese RPG.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY CoD does go on for awhile but they don't understand that we like a game that doesn't come around anymore so we should enjoy Chrono Trigger while it lasts.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Your comment kinda spells out exactly what i'm thinking tonight lol, just surfing around listening to some chrono songs and I was thinking the games today have all the flash and bang but they just don't have that substance the oldies did

  • @ANEWPATHWAY

I suppose I was lucky with my class then. Anyone who has never heard of Chrono Trigger will most likely be looked sideways at, causing a mass facepalm performed by at least 50% of everyone in the room. The rest will sigh at their ignorance.

And FYI, I'm currently 16 years of age.

  • @Tengila You sir, give me hope.

  • @Triskitout

Glad to be appreciated. But then, we ARE a class containing 100% aspiring Game Developers...

Also, that'd be Miss to you :3

  • @ANEWPATHWAY amen

  • @ANEWPATHWAY as a 27 year old who grew up with Chrono Trigger, I have to say I love COD so I can pwn newbs. pow pow

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Do you want to know why? There are a lot of good games out there. Unfortunately, most people, including yourself, are not old enough to be aware of them. The game came out in 1995. How old were you?

When I was in high school it was the same, mostly, because playing video games was still not mainstream.

The other thing you need to realize is that people in this world are different then you. I bet you many people would say the exact same to you. You only have one life to live.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY Modern Warfare 2 is an excellent game.

I am not a big fan of first person shooters. However, I am a avid gamer. I will play every game that is considered to be an 'excellent' game no matter what the genre and appreciate it. No true gamer will ever insult another excellent series of games such as the 'Call of Duty'. Note: Insult and Critism is two completely different things.

If you are true to what you love you appreciate it all, including the stuff you are not a big fan of.

  • @ScireSpire The games might not be horrible but that's not the point.

The point is that these FPS games are taking over the market and kids (like myself) these days don't get the chance too play these amazing games.

Not saying that the games where better before its just my opinion.

I truly hate FPS games because of that and i would never buy one even if it had Mario or Link in it.

    Or well maybe

As I said I think the games are OK but they're taking over and we must stop them!

    Heil me.

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh I will be extremely blunt. You are ignorant.

First Person Shooters sell well because more people enjoy them. The simple fact is that more people in this world enjoy these types of games then other games. You have to remember that it has evolved into this situation. In other words, all genre of games had equal footing from the beginning. The simple fact is First Person Shooters were the most favoured genre of gaming.

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh Understanding this point is the meaning a true gamer. Those who are not even willing to play a good game because they simply don't like it, is ignorant. Having to boycott games like that is absolutely useless. If you don't even know the root reason why these games are taking over.

As I go back to my original comment. People are different. Unfortunately, simply looking at numbers, you are in the minority.

I agree with your opinion. However, I am not ignorant.

  • @ScireSpire

I play FPS games with friends time to time but i don't enjoy them.

And again before i found myu GBA with SMW i didn't think there was better games than CoD and such but i was wrong. (not saying it's a fact that games were better just that it's my opinion)

And many of my friend just laughs when they the games i play but when a friend of mine found a SNes in his house some weeks ago he found out that there was better stuff out there.

    And that's the problem today.

  • @ahsdjsdgfhjgdhhhhhhh Yeah. I don't like multiplayer for first person shooters; however, I actually quite enjoyed the campaign of Modern Warfare 2.

The problem is that, the exact thing you said, is probably the same for any generation. You just aren't old enough to realize that. Just make people aware of games like this :)

  • @ScireSpire

Well its pretty damn hard to make people play these types of games because again they just laugh at it.

And yes you can be politically correct and say that its the same for every generation and that time goes forward and you can't stay on one location and the kids today like these FPS games and so on but me personally i think that's sad and as i said before a friend om mine played some Super Nintendo and fell in love with it.

They judge books by there covers.

  • @ScireSpire This game came out in 1995? It's that new? I turned six that year, seems like I have a lot more memories of this game than just 1995 onward, odd. Must've just made that much of an impact, quite the story to this game, I beat it a few years ago and haven't touched it since, been too addicted to this damn computer.

  • @SnickieX I would definately suggest you buying it on the DS to play it a few more times.

I had didn't have many memories when I was that young. LoL. Although there was Romance of the three Kingdoms II. That was a glorious game.

  • @ANEWPATHWAY I feel you man. I'm, also 17 years old and fucking NOBODY at my school knows what Chrono Trigger it makes me sad. The only people who I can talk to about it are on the internet.

  • total new age chill-out music.

  • Whenever I listen to this I feel sad that games like this will never be experienced by the majority of people today.

  • @ultris07 Also most of those people who do see it now won't appreciate as much as those who played it when it first came out because standards were not as high back then as they are now. Oh well, at least there will always be those few with an appreciation for the past in future generations.

  • Could I listen to this forever or what?

  • Thumbs up if Mowtendoo brought you here.

  • This music reminded me of sufi:P

  • To hear this music I completed Chrono Trigger dozens times over the years. Amazing music for an amazing game.

  • Music in video games nowadays just isn't very memorable. I think it's because none have a strong melody to it, that's what gets stuck in our head. Since now video game music composers have access to full orchestras, they basically make movie soundtracks but they're all rather like wallpaper; you don't notice them because it's all the same.

    Epic strings? check.

    Horns/drums for war? check.

Latin/gregorian chants in the music? A big nauseating check.

    Overkill on the epicness.

    No personality.

  • @eatthatmeatball I both agree and disagree. It's true that not many games have memorable melodies and they all sound more or less the same, but think of Halo. It had all of those things on that checklist, but it still has its fair share of wonderfully memorable tunes. Hell, I bet most FPS fans could hum the iconic gregorian chant, whether they're halo fans or not. I think it has more to do with the composers than the actual instrumentals themselves.

  • @3MM4NU37 what about music in left for dead, those tracks are memorable because they tie into gameplay, such as when prediction when a horde is coming or a tank.

  • my fav!!!

  • My face when I saw the zeal palace with this music = O_O !

  • Nostalgia :(

  • i'm buying a sitar

  • Discovered Nu's secret scratch point!

  • this song makes me trip

  • I am going to talk the school staff into playing this at my graduation. :D

  • Marle: Why is your name carved on the sword?

    Melchior: ...It's a long story...

No matter how many times I hear this music, it makes me want to go to my Uncle's house in the country... And he also played this game... Makes it even better... :D

  • Has to be one of my fav songs

  • My son loves this song

  • Why is this so relaxing?

  • I don't understand why square hasn't made a remake of this game yet.

  • @thetenkayy There's a DS version of it.

  • @electricmastro Yeah, but it's the same graphics and all, i mean a modern remake of the game, but a good one.

  • 8 people are trolls.

  • this song's got the jammssssss

  • FUCK all those who dislike.

  • "It all began aeons ago, when man's ancestors picked up a shard of a strange red rock. Its power, which was beyond human comprehension, cultivated dreams...In turn, love and hate were born. Only time will see how it all ends. "

Is it just me, or was the writing in this game far above the video game par?

  • @mauk4678 Its not just you. This game has some of the best writeing Ive ever seen. Not to mention the best character development. So no, its not just you

  • I love this f**cking song! And I listen to it everytime I want to remember the good times.. So weird.

  • Remember when games had quality music?

I don't hear music like this in any of the CoD games.

In fact, I don't hear ANY music in the CoD games.

  • @InuYashafanboyee Chrono Trigger and CoD are entirely different genres. Both are good in their own ways. There are different playerbases for each. Good games are still coming out, you just have to look in the right spots.

  • @Sturmtiger1942 Yeah good games are coming out still. But no good RPGs :(

  • @Sturmtiger1942 Except Zelda

  • Who could POSSIBLY dislike this music???!!! Blasphemy, I say!!!

  • damn..chrono trigger's songs are badass. :) i really like em

  • Sitar FTW.

  • Im almost done with my first ever playthrough of Chrono Trigger right now and i think its amazing, much like secret of mana also

  • 8 people didn't find the secret rooms in zeal.

  • i wish i can Go to the past to play chrono trigger again...

  • Well I'm 17 now, and I forgot to make a statement: While I do prefer Cross over Trigger (still love Trigger guys) "Black Ops is the best game ever!" Really? Funny one year ago you said Modern Warfare 2 was. I hate teenagers.

  • @TheTearsinthesky Agreed. My generation has no taste for anything good. Not videogames, not 80's music, not clothes, not shit.

This generation is an embarrassment. Truth be told, I'll dislike myself forever simply because I've had to live through these morons. But then there's the few that have common sense such as you and I. Yay.

  • @TehGamersGarage I bet you only 5 or so people at my school know this amazing game and that just makes me sad.

  • @TheTearsinthesky chill. maturity takes more and more time as the world evolves. i also belong to this generation; having discovered this game by chance, i went on and discovered chrono cross and other good oldies (not only limited to games but also films and music). am still searching... awed by so many great things that lay abandoned, catering to only a niche audience.

  • I didn't discover this game until about a year ago. I have a Sega Genesis. I wish this game was for fucking Sega Genesis.

  • @Twonez I really think this should have been released for the sega CD, imagine how cool it would have been with cd quality music instead of MIDI's

  • @chuydesorbitado I do some recording works, and some of which I do Chrono Trigger remakes. With this one, I'm trying to match that percussive sound at the intro (and throughout), and no such luck. Even though they're just MIDIs, I can't get a sound that good.

  • @Twonez Sega MegaDrive had Phantasy Star II-IV though!

  • @OmnomTheDevourer FUCK THAT SHIT

  • @Twonez Do you really need to react that drastically?

  • im crying :*( so sad song

  • I played this at school during lunch one time, and this girl told me to turn of that "shit." There she is, listening to Keshia and generic rap, and she calls this s**t? This is a masterpiece, when I hear this, I think of Ancient cultures such as China and India. To take something so beautiful and say it sucks compared to modern music is an insult not only to Chrono Trigger, but to music itself!

  • @OmnomTheDevourer You better not have listened to her and turn it off.

  • @OmnomTheDevourer

doubtless, the human species is a strange one.

  • 693 are enlightened ones

... What? Dislikers always get all the attention!

  • 8 people are Lavos Spawn.

  • best. freakin. game. ever.

  • I've recently got Chrono Trigger on WiiWare. I've played the DS version and it almost killed me it was so amazing - its interesting to see what the original version was like. Looks great on the big screen. Any WIi owners with Wii Shop Channel and like an RPG should definitely get this game!

  • The End of Time being a place in this game blew my mind.

  • @meddlingmage23 Absolutely. The End of Time was ALWAYS my fav part of the game.

Being in Zeal, listening to this song a close second.

  • Water summons wind...wind makes fire dance....zzzzz...

  • @StakemZ All life begins w/ Nu

  • Why do I always get tears in my eyes when I hear these old Chrono Trigger songs?

    I miss those days...

Upvote if you feel the same way as I do :(

  • @imGenji Hey buddy I feel the same way!

  • @imGenji Because Squaresoft made the best games between Final fantasy 1 to 11.

And all the years in between.

  • @imGenji you must get teary eyes because your current life sucks, and you want want to go back to that time in your life, BUT you cant so stop focusing so musch time in the past or you will have a higher chance of suicide nigger

  • @stfuBUDDY Dude you're cool! I wanna be just like you.

  • @imGenji Snif, so do I man... NWOQEQWOIENQWOINEOIQW *Cries*

So beautiful, this music brings me back, and forth...

  • @imGenji cus childhood memories drive us past the bull crap we put up with as adults. we are all still just kids playing chrono trigger mate :) be good.

  • @imGenji Because it's like meeting an old friend again - except one you never had a falling out with - one you just stopped seeing.

  • Small facts: Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack, was a sound engineer at Square and threatened to leave the company if he wasn't (finally!) given the opportunity to actually write music, and also asked for a raise in salary. His boss let him (lucky us!) write the music but insisted that the game had to sell well for the raise. Then, when Mitsuda-san had an ulcer from working too hard after writing most of the music, Uematsu-san replaced him to finish the job. Fun eh?

  • @RottenPimple I never knew that. He has wrote my 3 favorite soundtracks, Trigger, Cross and Xenogears. I put him on the same level as Uematsu

  • - Do you believe in destiny?

    - No

    - You're exactly right! We are the masters of our own fate!

The kingdom of Zeal is filled with great words and great music.

  • Just as good as I remembered it being. One question though--why is Marle shooting out fire??? I'm pretty sure I remember her being the one who used ice...OOPS!!

  • ya know I think I was 5 or 6 when this particular game came out......I obtained a copy at a flea market about a year ago, and now it's a collectors piece....I have the version on the PS1 to play and it's one of the best games I've played

  • I never understood the cover of the cartridge, Marle is water elemental, yet she's enhancing Crono's sword with fire...

  • @pharphaine dude! I never realized that. lol

  • I'm 16 people and let me please ask something: Why is it great games Chrono Trigger aren't very well known by like teens these days, yet Black Ops are extremely well know. What happened to video games guys, sure I wasn't born when Trigger came out but it doesn't matter, I want to slap most of the people at my school for saying "Black Ops is the best game ever."

  • @TheTearsinthesky I agree, I'm 18 and yet Black Ops is fun, but no where near as good as the classics of the 90s with this game being one of em!! It's usually shooting and sports games for today's teens, sad really

  • @NS3210 meh those games are lame imo, i like play lots of rts's like starcraft and old rpg's as well as new ones. I still play Chrono Trigger from time to time. I'm just letting you know not all teens play meaningless games like the ones you described :)
