My first husband was a " Wallace", he died when we were young, second husband was a " Campbell". ... Both Scottish heritage, I would love to visit Scotland someday..... My four daughters are lovers of Scottish decent also... My heritage is from England and Wales..... If i ever win the lottery I will put Scotland on top of my list of places to visit... Love Scotland !!!!

fantastic castles to bad you didn't include the Fraser Castle in Alberdeen Scottland. That is my husband's ancestory home and it's so beautiful that they turn it into a musuem. Do you know about it?

I disagree with the choice of most of these pictures, because they give no justice to these amazing places: I've visited most of them, and I can say they're spectacular...

Dunrobin Castle, for example, is an incredible castle set in a spectacular place: where's all this in the picture of the video?

2012 is the year I have planned to travel to your glorious land. Thank you for a beautiful taste of the things to come. Today, I found a "coffee table" book at the local bookstore all about Scotland's castles and I almost burst at the seams looking through the pictures of the castles and land. you ask a good question. I know growing up in the states that castles in the fairy tails had that look of cylinder shapped sections and turrets. But from what I've read, they were first built as fortress to protect valuables and important people. How they evolved into residences is another story. I guess you will get a different answer from a different person.
