  • U do all realise Ricky made the U.S version too LOL

  • @laywa84 He's an executive producer, i believe, and he doesn't really have any hands on. Just gets money for it.

  • Comment removed

  • YAWN Boring LOL

  • Lol, why is everyone arguing? I'm american, and obviously I watch the american office. After seeing this, it seems like they use the same kind of awkward comedy like in the US. People can't understand that Britain and US have a totally different sense of humor. Respect both shows how they are and stop raging.

  • lol. this bbc office, sucks so badly, US office much much better, and i'm not us citizen, or living in us, just simple facts,

not funny at all, except for brits

  • Yo @buttmuch101, @@MickJagoffable and others: no need to trash Americans just because you don't find the NBC version of The Office funny. Americans, just like the Brits, produce great television and movies. Like many have said, they cater to different audiences. I work in an office in Washington, DC so obviously I relate more to the US version and the parody of American office life. I'm sure if I worked in the UK I would pick up on the British nuances and find it just as entertaining.

  • @renthead15 yeah, american comedy caters to stupid people and jews.

HBO is amazing though, dont get me wrong. American TV is far superior to british TV. its just the comedy that sucks :( dont you get bored of steve carrell? he's on every TV show and in every movie.

  • @Shnufkin

Steve Carell is not in every movie

  • the office is cringing in the funniest way possible. Americans always steal ou shows cos they have no original ideas and make them mainstream and overdo it.

  • British humour is different from American humor. That's why they're spelled differently :)

  • The British version (THE ORIGINAL VERSION) is far better than the yankee doodle piece of shit American version. Americans always find a way to take a good thing and turn it to shit. Stupid yanks

  • @MickJagoffable legend

  • @MickJagoffable I'm British. Prefer this version. Dismissing the American version though as a piece of shit is ignorant. They cater for a different audience and with a different format. They do it brilliantly. I hate the Americans and the British saying ''ours is better yours is shit'' Shut up, if you can only appreciate one then you are an idiot. Both superb although Gervais/Merchants version wins for me.

  • @iloveneytiri That's just my opinion. I don't find the American version funny. Not because it's i American, because it's not FUNNY. I appreciate the British verision, not because it's the original, i appreciate it because i find it FUNNY. It's my perogative to like what i choose and i don't like the yank version. Is that ok with you?

  • @KangoTV I'm an American, and I think the American version is a lot better. (No Offense.)

  • @AdamStroud45 Adam, you would find the American version funnier. You're American. You're an American that gives his full name on youtube. You're also a Christian. It's no wonder you cannot appreciate humour. You kind of prove the point.

  • This is not a real documentary people.... Its ALL scripted!!!!! FAKE and GAY!

  • @adotkidmonster yh its scripted as its an award winning comedy PROGRAMME. fukin hell sum ppl

  • @snentz please be kind...remember some people only ever watch unscripted programmes, such as the mind-bendingly entertaining and extremely un-gay "Big Brother". Such people suffer a form of post-traumatic stress if they are exposed to anything created with a degree of thought or intelligence - a bit like encountering alien life....

  • @adotkidmonster - You fail at trolling

  • @adotkidmonster its a mockumentary and its not gay... ur gay.

  • @adotkidmonster you need to be handicap testad.

  • the stupidity of the jokes in the US version makes it hilarious n UK version is probably good but honestly i cant understand the accents at times

  • @Raso8k Same here, I would like to watch the US version but the American accents is hard to understand sometimes. They should put subtitles on US films too so English people can understand what they are saying...........!

  • Disableds-don't abuse the system.

  • AKA the disabled.

  • they should make more, but the us version is apparently more popular. dont really care, seen it a couple of times and the jokes were quite lame. im not even british but the uk office owns, and is too underrated

  • @star0dreamer Nah, 12 eps and the specials, leave it at that. That's how we do things here.

  • "Her own decisions..."

  • her own decisions!.. gold.

  • I'm British, I love the British Office. I adore it. American Office? Not a clue, never seen it, never will see it. Is it terrible? Is it great? I don't care. I've got this, that's all I need.

    Fact.

  • The Office humour is based on awkward uncomfortable situations, I love it! Gervais is a comedy genius. This is indeed comedy gold.

  • all the awkward silences in this show make me laugh so hard XDXD

and is that a guy wearing his clothes backwards? he has a collar and a tie at this back lol

  • I have not seen one of those little blue cars in years.

  • The height of sardonic and comedic brilliance!!!!

  • And if they're for real, they'll be left there screaming for help.

  • I don't know if Ricky and Steve knew Karl Pilkington at the time, but Gareth's logic kind of reminds me of Karl's.

    :-D

  • The Office seems to split people down the middle ( either love or hate it), me and my brother have almost identical taste in comedy. I absolutly LOVE the Office, .. he just doesn't get it, and it leaves him cold.

ps, .. i like both versions UK and US.

  • Comedy genius

  • This is the first clip I have ever seen of the original show and it is pure gold. No wonder Rickey Gervais is so popular.

  • Just a thought....

Why is there a need for a US version anyway??

The UK original is TV gold. And better than the US replica. Thats not up for debate, sorry....

But because a US broadcast would have ratings in mind they need to make it more palatable/understandable in terms of cultural references and accents to the lazy and ignorant majority... Its the exact same with some Scottish shows if they try to promote in England. (I mean south of the Midlands, btw)

    Laziness.....

  • The uk version seems a lot less funny compared to the american, dunno why just not enough instant laughing like i get from the american one

  • The genius of this writing is that it makes you laugh 'at' the joke tellers as they are so outrageous and embarrassing rather than laughing 'at' the person or thing that could be the target of narrow minded and hurtful jokes... this clever cringe inducing dichotomy and irony is priceless.

  • That's What She Said

  • i can't take this show seriousley with the accents

  • @ultraryanrules2

don't watch it then, i don't watch the shit US version, you don't have to watch this

  • why is it that on every single BBC Office clip on youtube, the comments section is full of people whining about how bad the US version is? I love the UK version and I wish there was more of it. It's funny as hell. I also love the US version. and you're not better than anyone else for liking one over the other. you Brits need to lighten up. Besides, your messiah, Ricky Gervais, contributes to and makes an ass load of money off of the US version. don't hate because it's popular.

  • @juju52291

"you Brits need to lighten up" oh yeah because it's just us isn't it? i mean there's no Americans coming on to UK office video's and saying about how much the US is better, that doesn't happen does it?

  • @JoshRobertson142 I didn't necessarily say that. I only singled out the 'brits' because the people insulting the US version are the majority. Just watch a youtube clip from the US version and look in the comments. you hardly see anyone insulting the British version. yet, for some reason, on the UK clips, there's some sort of anti-US-Office rally taking place.

  • @juju52291

you hardly see anyone making fun of the british version? again go on more video's and scroll down the comments i'm sure you'll see many americans doing that

  • @JoshRobertson142 I didn't say you hardly see anyone making fun of the British version. on these videos, yes, you do see Americans making fun or insulting the UK version. but it seems to only happen on these BBC Office videos (where there also happens to be a lot of US Office hate). on the US Office youtube videos, hardly anyone takes shots at the BBC version. they just enjoy the clips. but I guess since the US version is popular, people feel then need to insult it here.

  • @juju52291

again you're wrong there are tons of americans who comment on the BBC clips, look for yourself, who cares if it's more popular? it's a dumbed down version of the UK office to appeal to the bigger audience. i couldn't care less if more people like the US version, because shit sells, why do you think sitcoms like 2 and a half men are successful?

  • @JoshRobertson142 I'm pretty sure you missed my point entirely. reread my comment. and making a comparison between the US Office and two and a half men is unfair. I'm sure there's plenty of garbage TV in the UK that one could compare to the UK Office. but the fact that you dislike the American version is your own opinion. I was just making an observation. on the BBC clips people feel the need to post hateful comments towards the US Office. and I'm sure it's just because it's more popular.

  • @juju52291

it has NOTHING to do with popularity, people post comments because the US office is shit, or are replying to an american who came onto the video in the first place. let me put it this way? ever heard of justin bieber? go on to one of his songs he gets tones of abuse of people, why because he is popular? no because he is shit, like the US office.

  • @JoshRobertson142 Well that logic would make sense if all of the haters were commenting on US Office videos. but again, you missed my point. I'm not arguing whether or not the US Office is shit or not. I'm just wondering why fans of the UK show feel the need to hate on the US Office on a video that isn't of the US Office. it just doesn't make much sense. but I guarantee you that if the US version wasn't so popular people like yourself wouldn't feel the need to whine and rant about it.

  • @juju52291

the US version isn't popular, not in Britain anyway.. people know about it because of the UK office, if it wasn't a remake of 1 of our shows it would just be another US sitcom thats shown at 4 o'clock in the morning. like i said ALOT of americans come onto UK office video's and moan creating 5/10 reply's back telling them how shit the US version is.

  • @JoshRobertson142 just look at the comments. from the start on all of these BBC office videos, the war was started by a UK Office fan. just explain to me why UK Office videos have this hate in the comments?

  • @juju52291

"just explain to me why UK Office videos have this hate in the comments?" most people say "this is far better than the US office" the only time when hate comes into the comments is in a reply to an American who's come on here. why do you care though? you go back to watching your shit version, and i'll watch real comedy, ok?

  • @JoshRobertson142 yeah, that's my point. why do people say "this is far better than the US Office"? you hardly see anyone doing that in the comments section for the US Office videos. I'm sure that many of these people believe that (they probably haven't given the US Office a chance, however) but the reason why they post the comments is because the US Office is a lot more popular. but w/e you're not very bright, dude. I'm talking to a brick wall.

  • @juju52291

you're clearly a fucking idiot, you hardly see anybody doing it in the US offic clips? because no brits watch it! people say this is far better than the American version because it's their fucking opinion! it's a remake so it will be compared and they think it is better, it doesn't happen on the US version because many Americans don't know the UK version exists because they are stupid cunts under the elusion that American shows are original.

  • @JoshRobertson142 why do people constantly mention the US version though? this is not a US version clip. it doesn't make much sense that they would mention it. unless, of course, it stems from some jealousy or hate for the American show. and now you're attacking the American audience. nice one. there would be no reason for you to get so defensive if you actually understood what I'm saying and if you had a valid point. but you're just stubborn and you're not smart.

  • @juju52291

because they are the only 2 english versions, do you want people to compare french and english version?? nobody is fucking jealous of your version, in fact were glad you have it and we don't take, take we don't want it. The american audience are idiots. American TV is about money British TV is mostly about quality of the show.

  • @JoshRobertson142 you're just being ignorant. raging about how stupid Americans are isn't making your argument any more valid. I, for example, am American and I know for damn sure I'm much smarter than you. despite all of the typing you've done, you still haven't answered my original question. why do fans of this show feel the need to hate on the US version? if it's so bad, then why waste their time talking about it?

  • @juju52291

"why do fans of this show feel the need to hate on the US version? if it's so bad, then why waste their time talking about it?" they don't! you act like it's everybody, yeah some people do comment on it calling the US version shit, some Americans come on here and call the UK version shit, why do you care? if anything you americans are worse for coming onto a video they don't like and commenting. "for example, am American and I know for damn sure I'm much smarter than you"

    LMAO

  • @juju52291

LMAO read ultraryanrules2 comment. guess what? he's american

  • @JoshRobertson142 wow. actually read my comments dude. you're not being very smart. and that definitely doesn't give your argument much merit.

  • @juju52291 I happen to disagree with what you're saying about people slagging off the US version on clips of the UK one (I find it's generally in response to stupid Americans saying they don't understand it) but it doesn't help that JoshRobertson142 is clearly a tad moronic. Unfortunately most people in the world are a bit thick and the jingoistic Brits dismissing the US version out of hand are no better than the aforementioned stupid Americans. Such is life. The UK version is better though ;)

  • @havering3 well then we agree to disagree. thanks for actually posting an articulated response. to each his own.

  • Is that the one-eyed guy from Pirates or the Caribbean? I believe you have my stapler!

  • @Agoonga Yep that's him alright before the Pirate films...

  • Both versions are great at their peak, but the British version is more consistent, while the U.S. version has higher points and lower points.

I was in a cafe in San Diego earlier this week and saw Ricky Gervais talking with some gent and couldn't make out who it was.... I found out later it was a publicist that works with Greg Daniels. Interesting.

  • I think the reason I don't find this version as funny is because of the accent, it's just a little hard for me to tell where the funny parts start and stop

  • @ch33s3ypwnr

you're clearly an idiot then, unlike the US version there isn't slapstick jokes where everybody knows when to laugh, the UK version is a mockumentary, the US is another standard sitcom

  • @JoshRobertson142 You are clearly a douche bag then, this was the first time I had ever watched the BBC version. I never said they were the same; I was just trying to explain why I didn't get the humor. I get it now; don't be such a dick

  • i can watch both Us and Uk, i love em both but i gotta admit, The Uk version is so much better, prob because im english but yano.

  • ''As long as you don't abuse the system. Sadly a lot of them are''. As he points to the chick in the chair lmao

  • did one of the guys at the end have his shirt and tie on backwards? :L

  • @raverhead no, he's just wearing his face backwards.

  • @Studas2006 i fucking hate it when i do that!

  • Comment removed

  • @raverhead YES LOOOL

  • "Its alright, don't cry" LOL Ps, the UK Office is far better then the US one. The US ruined it

  • its not about national pride. im not being biased. i thought i would like the UK version because i love the US version, but their delivery is all wrong

  • @jsamari I was defending the US version of The Office before in the face of my idiotic compatriots but if you think that about the UK version then you really are an absolute moron and an embarrassment to the rest of your country. Seriously, you must be braindead. It surprises me that you even have the intelligence to use a computer.

  • @havering3 look how dramatic you are. ur taking it personally because i dont like a show that you like. "moron, braindead"... is it that serious? im not even talking about being patriotic, im talking about THE SHOW ITSELF. grow up its a tv show

  • @jsamari That was an objective analysis of your intelligence, in no way was I taking it personally. I was merely expressing my surprise that they'd trained a chimp to use the internet. Also, in no way was I implying you were being patriotic. If you re-read my comment, you'll see that (or rather you won't, you know, being braindead and all). The original version of The Office may be a show you don't like, but that's primarily because it's a show you don't understand.

  • @havering3 ha! YOU'RE funnier than that tv show!

and its not an objective analysis if were talking about OPINIONS.

i def. do understand it and its still not funny TO ME.

why you think you're right when you're dead wrong

  • @havering3 lol I'm so smart

  • @jsamari You're an idiot. The US decided to remake (an inferior version of) this programme as it's fantastic. They're now going to remake the british show The Inbetweeners, probably ruining it.

  • @OfficerJohnMcLane I DONT CARE ABOUT SOME INBETWEENERS. I DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL THAT IS. SO WHAT IF "THEY" RUIN IT. I DO NOT REPRESENT AMERICA, I REPRESENT MYSELF AND MY OWN OPINION, AND I DONT HAVE TO LIKE THE UK OFFICE. I COULD JUST AS EASILY CALL U AN IDIOT BECAUSE U DO LIKE IT, BUT IT IS NOT THAT SERIOUS.... U ACT LIKE I HATE THE WHOLE UK. ITS A TV SHOW

  • @jsamari I'm not going to argue with someone with such poor grammar and sentence structure.

  • @OfficerJohnMcLane i wasnt talking to you in the first place

  • @jsamari You're an idiot.

  • @jsamari stop writing in capitals u twat

  • @jsamari you like the version thats been dumbed down so that americans can understand it?

  • how can anyone argue that the u.s one is better ?! i think its only of a thing about national pride when anyone says that the u.s version is better !

  • uk 10/10

    us 4/10

  • @GiMpReLoAdEd Give me one reason why he is. American Humor is hialrious. They talk about real life things, but in the case of the office, Its set in a normal place but with hilarious people with different personalities. Theres the strange/sexist/stupid/smart/cool people in the office. Having them all act to make a show is perfect. But this show is lacking that, or as far as i can see it is.

  • The US version clearly isn't better than the original, as nothing ever will be. That said, it's still funny and has done well to remain consistently good over the course of numerous series. The UK has traditionally been the king of the sitcom, but the number of truly outstanding British comedies in the last few years (Peep Show, The Thick Of It and not much else) has definitely been bettered by the US (30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, It's Always Sunny..., etc.). Don't be jingoistic about comedy!

  • @havering3 Hey, back off! Peep Show is the best show ever made!

  • @Herringish You misread my comment, I said the number of great sitcoms has been bettered, not the programmes themselves. I don't agree that Peep Show is the best show ever made (The Office is better for a start) but it's definitely the best sitcom of the last few years either side of the Atlantic.

  • @havering3 ever heard of The Mighty Boosh? The Inbetweeners?

Look them up. Sorry, but americans really havent gotten the grasp of the concept yet.

  • @daleio16 I'm not sure if you think I'm American or if you're just quite a condescending person but I am aware of the merits of both those programmes (and one excellent series followed by a mediocre then an awful one does not make the Boosh a classic).

You saying 'the americans really havent gotten the grasp of the concept yet" just marks you out as one of the many jingoistic and ill-informed cunts that seem to flock to youtube any time someone makes a sensible and considered comment.

  • well said havering! I agree. Most people on here are very silly indeed. Inarticulate knob'eads. Good for you!

  • I hate it when people try to prove points against America. All they do is hit a weak spot and say things like "fat" or "stupid" Americans. Just because we take pride in things. This didnt humor me at all, and I can assure you that no one acts like its a substandard show in the US. It only has to do with the fact that there are many other shows that are funny as well. And 2 words : Steve Carrel.

  • people around the world look for the american humor not british

  • Uhmm, the UK version doesn't humor me at all.

  • i act egsactly the same as this my freinds love it lol

  • CHECK OUT MY NEW SMASH HIT DOCUMENTARY ON YOUTUBE BASED ON THE LIFE OF AN EAST END ACTOR DANNY LYER, OUT ON BBC 3 IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. ITS SIMPLY UNDER DANNY LYER.

  • Stick pins in their legs.

  • LOL some of you people are so ignorant and really don't understand how ridiculous your arguments are. The UK version is absolute genius, and the American version is incredibly hilarious...BOTH are created and portrayed through the genius of Ricky Gervais. So whether you're insulting the UK version or the American version, you're only criticizing ricky Gervais, and not the people of a nation...Have some class ppl. Personally I enjoy both for very different reasons, Ricky Gervais is awesome.

  • british tv is original and us just copies it and its not as funny

  • Comment removed

  • 'AKA.....the disaaybwlds, these little fellas'. Hahahaha. Gervais is untouchable

  • Ricky Gervais for the win !

  • They'd be left there....screaming for help.

    LOOOL!

  • US version > UK version.

  • This is a perfectly written and performed scene. I love the way Gervais and Merchant look at 'no go areas' in society like criticising Charity institutions and disabilitys etc and totally rip them apart, they are utterly fearless and deserve the praise and succcess theyve achieved. For my money this show will live on and be praised in the future as a classic work of comedy and satire in the same way Monty Python was for earlier generations. AND ITS BRITISH.. HURAH!!!!

  • @One of those little blue cars.Priceless!!

  • @blacklakelight EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion. If you don't like what I had to say MOVE ALONG. Don't get your panties in a bunch :)

  • The US version, whatever one's opinion, should have at least been given a different title (as was "All in the Family," for instance). That's what's such crap about it, and there wouldn't be any silly feuding if it had been.

  • Tim is amazing.

  • People who defend the UK version keep saying that the only reason people don't like it is because they "don't understand" it........maybe some people just don't like that kind of humor. Just like some people don't like family guy or south park or the simpsons. They have their reasons. It doesn't mean they don't understand the jokes. Seinfield was extremely popular but I never liked it. People have opinions. No need to tear them down. Respect to both versions of the show.

  • both offices are funny. but alot of people dont find it funny simply because they dont understand it. if you dont understand it, then you cant say anything bad about it.

  • The American version is hilarious

  • @mitch738

    I agree

  • @kmann1994

    why?

  • @kmann1994

Are you kidding me? i've seen a small amount of the US version and what I watched of it, it was the biggest pile of crap id ever watched

  • The office is a uk show that is highly respected and regarded as one of the best comedys ever. In the us it is just a substandard show. Just because you're too stupid to understand it.

  • @summerofska That's offensive....I don't understand all this rivalry between the US and the UK, it's unnecessary. It just shows that people will always try to find something to dislike about others no matter what. We could look exactly the same (which the average UK and US person look the same) and people like you will still find something to dislike. Prejudice and immaturity. If the US was so stupid they wouldn't be a world power, just sayin. People can like diff types of humor but learn to

  • @summerofska be respectful. There's no need for your bias prejudice.

  • @summerofska that's more a opinion

  • @summerofska Your a bloody faggot

  • @summerofska lol,nice comment.

  • @summerofska What's hard to understand in the UK Office? Elitist cunt.

  • sounds like a low budget movie ! i don't think i'm gonna like this show .

  • @dbsknada Because it's a mockumentary: it was made to look simple and low-budget. Hence the camera shakes and simple lighting, for example.

Why are there always people who don't get it?

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. gareths idea actually wasnt that stupid

  • Her own decisions.

  • Alright i think the original office has a higher standard of comedy, but i enjoy watching the american office as well. The only thing that annoys me is not people saying the american version is better (wrong or right thats just their point of view), its just those in america that dont know about the original and think they created it

Btw i could laugh at gareth even if he wasnt saying or doing anything, he just looks so funny

  • The English version is sooo much more original and "into it" spot on Gervais ! and btw im watching both.

  • Uk version is so much better

  • This original version is still better than the US remake.

  • I find the bbc the office much more challenging which i enjoy the american office is funny but its more on a plate

  • well, I personally love both versions. but with almost everyone else i talk to about which version they like better, they stick with the one theyv'e seen first. so... (shrug)

  • @PedoLouie Ha, thats the funniest thing I ever heard, you're kidding right?

  • @spooney100 no, sadly he's that fucking stupid :)

  • @PedoLouie the british show is a lot more subtle, you might be finding the jokes hard to understand

  • @PedoLouie I can only assume that was a joke to get people hating on you.

  • @PedoLouie thats what americans do

  • There are so many comments about which office is better. I've seen them both, I love them both, but these clips are for entertainment, not for argument about which is better or worse!! Just watch it and laugh!! Don't argue about every freaking thing!!!! Enjoy! That's what comedy is all about. Am I right?

  • @rockerchickomg30 There are so many rational conversations between friends where everyone agrees to disagree about which Office is better, if either. Websites have comment sections for entertainment, not for agreeing with strangers and stifling your real opinion. Either join in by arguing or join in by arguing against arguing. That's what the internet is all about. amirite?

  • I'm Mexican but live in Canada so I'm not really biased but I find the US office funnier

  • The Office (U.S.) is so much better :/

  • @UndeadKenny124 If you're mentally challenged maybe.

The Office(original) is one of the greatest comedies of all time.

The US Office would struggle to break into the top 50.

  • @UndeadKenny124 damn straight us americans are better than anything and everyone

  • I thinkc ricy jarvis is cruel to the disables women, this should no be ollowed on the bbc?

  • @marshalllucky You don't get it. He's actually helping put more of a spotlight on how diasabled ppl are treated unfairly. Now if you agreed with Brent or Gareth in this scene, then there would be a problem.

  • Love him <3
