I know it just must be unbelievably annoying, but really, aside from the idiots that just say stupid stuff, can you really blame us? Our voices are freaking robotic and annoying. You guys speak so...nicely. Just sounds cool.
I'm half australian, half american, and when I go to Australia people always say "Are you a yank?" or "What did you say? Are you from america?" and they are always 'amazed' that I sound american.
When I go back to America (I always have a slight accent after visiting, I swear they're contagious!), people ask me if I'm Australian or part aussie. then they ask me to say "G'day mate"
@rubz794 I'm half English, half American, and have lived in Texas for nearly 2 years. I've still got a mostly British accent though, so the American one in this was put on! :)
@MrAbbyFitzpatrick Actually there are 3 in Great Britain (which is not as it is commonly believed to be a boastful name, but actually the Roman name for the island on which those three countries sit: "Brittania Superior", literally "Big/Great Britain"): England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland is in Ireland. Hence why your passport (if you are from the UK) says "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I feel so bad for you. But lol. "So are you British or English?" Although I've done the whole "I could just listen to you talk all day" thing before. Accents are just so cute. (Not just British ones, I just love accents in general)
im an american. and im just gonna let you all know that i am totally guilty of at least 5 of these. not the stupid air head ones, but i really do like to listen to people with accents speak. haha
When people ask where I'm from and I say Manchester, they always ask if that's near London. When I say it's about 200 miles away, many of them have replied "Oh, that's not that far then" O______O
How about a video of stupid shit the English say to Americans? After the requisite "you call it this and I call it that", when I say I am from Rochester, New York, I get "You're from New York? Do you carry a gun? Have you ever been mugged?" "We fly into JFK, can you fetch us at the airport?' (No, it takes me 8 hrs to get there.) & I have lost count of how many Brits felt it was their civic duty to EXPLAIN RHYMING SLANG TO ME, though I didn't ask them to. Yes I UNDERSTAND. I just DON'T CARE.
The best thing is when someone asks if you know the Queen and you say yes, yes I do, my dad is friends with Prince William. (Not true but some people have believed me!)
:D :D "You sound like this when you talk"... Hilarious, tho I'm neither English nor American.. but I must say I could listen to the British accent all day, too :D
oh my goodness, the last time my cousins ever saw me was when i was 3 months old, then they moved to america, so check it im 16 and i meet them for the first time and what did they say? !Oh my gawd, you accent!!...... do you drink tea?"
A few years ago I travelled across Italy, and supprisingly there was allot of Americans there, mostly In Rome and Pisa. These two old American ladies asked if we were Australian. XD
So far, the Americans I've met are so lovely and very friendly. I'm going to America this summer, really can't wait!! I hope I get to meet and make freinds with some! :D
LOL can't wait to go to America and hear all of these things, WHY do you think our accents are so funny? If anything, I think we have no accent in a way....
Speaking as an Brit, I can honestly say I don't understand the American obsession with our accent. Your impressions only (vaguely) represent one accent. People from the North, for example, do not sound like that. At all. Funny video, though :D
THIS. I moved to US when I was a teen, and most of these things were said at me incessantly until I figured out how to do an american accent. oh this vid brings back memories
