I'm half australian, half american, and when I go to Australia people always say "Are you a yank?" or "What did you say? Are you from america?" and they are always 'amazed' that I sound american.

When I go back to America (I always have a slight accent after visiting, I swear they're contagious!), people ask me if I'm Australian or part aussie. then they ask me to say "G'day mate"

It gets very frustrating to say the least.

A few years ago I travelled across Italy, and supprisingly there was allot of Americans there, mostly In Rome and Pisa. These two old American ladies asked if we were Australian. XD
