Well, at least part 1 is still up so I can comment on something that I always found very disturbing about this episode. When Charles was being a smart-ass at 1:58 & the teacher asked him what the principal would think. All I have to ask is where were here freakin' brains?!! Didn't she know that half of his behavioral issues were the cause of what was going on at home?!! YOU NEVER send a kid who is getting the crap beaten out of him to the principal, you release him on his own recognizance!!!

my mother often hit me when i was younger and my younger brother. she thinks the only way of raising a kid that's disobeying (sth we all did as a kid) is hitting, even though she herself wasn't raised in that way, the result of which was that me and my brother even obeyed less because we naturally wouldn't respect her violence. when she saw those programs where a kid was hit by parents she would say "the kid was so rude he deserves to be hit, i would have hit him even earlier".

Danny tries to tell Stephanie about the hidden virtues of some lunatic who tried to flee the country, but some 9 year old makes a rude comment, and suddenly it's "Maybe there isn't good in everybody..." I know its a fictional show, but I think scenes like this illustrate part of the problem of abuse. Adults are quick to judge and condemn kids without considering what might be the real issues. Granted, Danny only met him for a moment, but still.
