Loved Thailand overall but I went as a single guy...Phi Phi was ok..was there one week, found too many drunken kids, had some awesome dives though. Maya beach was beautiful even in the rain but the washrooms were so filthy I had to take pics...never saw anything like it. Railey was my fav...au nang was nice too. Been to Bali as well with a gf and still prefer Thailand over Bali. Bali has so much garbage everywhere it was shocking to see. Thailand deserves another visit.

Its one of the worst examples of what can become of a beautiful place if you let people do anything they want with absolutely no restriction or oversight. Its unbelievably filthy (and I have a high tolerance for third world smells) and reeks of rotten everything. From the second you step of the boat, you are harassed beyond belief to get you to buy over priced rooms or trips. Its very sad.

For me and my girlfriend it took us 2/3 days of wondering around the islands till we found that spot and it hit us... "Wow... This... is... too... fucking... beautiful!". Nice work on this video. Phi Phi is an amazing place. The people are friendly, the prices reasonable, the excursions exciting. Several great novels have been set in the Ko Phi Phi area. "The Beach" and "Cross Currents" are thrilling novels that bring the islands of southern Thailand to life.
Phi Phi is nice but not even close as it is presented. To the locals it is all money money... those two beaches are one of the worst beaches, the left one is a port so you can not swim there and the right one is full of plastic bags, broken bottles... you need to walk through rocks 1km to get in deep water. Do not expect much from that island.
On the other hand, Maya bay, bamboo island, mosquito island...all very nice, but no accommodation there (thats why it is probably nice) VIRUSES!!!
@alexredstar4 Did you visit any of the other beaches on Koh Phi Phi? It's not just limited to those two (the worst of all the beaches, by far). Laem Tong and Long Beach are my two favourite beaches with accommodation on, there's plenty more even quieter areas and I went during the busiest period of the year.

This place looks so beautiful, the natural environment is just gorgeous, the ocean waters looks so clean and pure, the beach looks so relaxing, this is a place that i most definitely want to visit when I'm on vacation. Thailand is the place to go.
I have been to this island several times and i have seen people who Live on there, They are like the people from LOST. You wont find them unless you know where to look, its a secret that only a few know about.

I was there from a couple a days smoking marijuana on phi phi island ... it's a great place to be ... but use a lot of protection , im burned badly , when in phucket in the middle of the night , do not wear red t-shirts or they will think you are in mafya , it happened with me , and i could get in a fight because of it , there is something called red t-shirt gang . when in bangkok try the embassy , beautiful girls and friendly staff . do not go with hotel taxi drivers , they will ripp you off.

I visit Phi Phi Don some years ago and its a beautyful place, nice people nice beaches and very clear seawater. Tonsai Bay is changed a lot after the 2004 tsunami such a same it realy was paradise but it stil is
U should have seen it in 2007! I fell in love with it but as most places like this it becomes over populated by 2009 when I went back it wasn't the same place even a f ing banna boat on the beach, I could have cried! Same as koh Tao, that was something really special until the crowds started swarming in! GOD DAMN LONLEY PLANET!!!!! If any 1 knows of any where as nice as these places but without the crowds and commercialism please let me know!

@naturecollision Maya Bay is part of Phi Phi National Park, tourists get charged to go on the beach, this money (which yes is quite a lot every day) is spent maintaining the beach etc, therefore there is no garbage from tourism, it is very well maintained. If you visit Phu Quoc Island Vietnam you will see a beautiful beach with white sand spoilt by garbage everywhere due to lack of tourism and no waste disposal system on the island. If tourism improves then maybe it will change in the future.

i just returned from there......it is beautiful....not as cheap as most of thailand. i stayed at room for 300 bath, to the famous the beach where the movie was made you can get easily by boat trips are starting from 250 baths that is like 6 euros........wau....i miss the place so much. the only thing is that it got so famous that it is beginning to be kind of dirty lot of parties on the main beach.....but still definitely must go for every traveller

I was there in August of 2010. It was very beautiful, but a little crowded. I went searching for solitude, and found it not on the Koh Phi Phi Islands, but on one of the other islands in the Andaman Sea, where I was the only person there (other than the boat operator).
if you want to make nice pictures or films on maya bay, you have to talk to an long tail boat owner for going there atleast at 7.00 in the morning, cause after all tourists arrive there and you cant even see the beach, we came there and only 1 long tail boat was there, we had the whole beach alone for making fotos and stuff, anyway phi phi is full of tourists and the water is allready full of gasoline, i can imagine good how it looks in a few years^^ the nicest thing was bamboo island for sure^^

Ingphu viewpoint I would recommend. Nice little bungalows situated on the side of the hill about 5 minuete walk from the village surrounded by trees and monkeys. Remember the mosquito spray x

Just imagine those beaches 1000 years ago completely untouched. I bet some lucky people took boats out to that island hundreds of years ago and just chilled out the entire time - the whole place to theirselves. Paradise.
I have just come back from here and it is nothing like this anymore. The streets are dirty and the beech was rammed full of tourists, you can barely walk down the streets and maya bay.... from one side to the other was parked with boats.
What i thought was going to be 5 days in paradise isnt anymore. was still lovely just nothing like this vidio

U should have seen it in 2007! I fell in love with it but as most places like this it becomes over populated by 2009 when I went back it wasn't the same place even a f ing banna boat on the beach, I could have cried! Same as koh Tao, that was something really special until the crowds started swarming in! GOD DAMN LONLEY PLANET!!!!! If any 1 knows of any where as nice as these places but without the crowds and commercialism please let me know!

is this place owned by some companies who lock up the beaches etc? would not be surprised if that was exclusive in some way...would love to go there but I think all you can expect from it in 2011 is commerce, probably even trash from too many people? does anyone know more about this? plz msg me!

@naturecollision Maya Bay is part of Phi Phi National Park, tourists get charged to go on the beach, this money (which yes is quite a lot every day) is spent maintaining the beach etc, therefore there is no garbage from tourism, it is very well maintained. If you visit Phu Quoc Island Vietnam you will see a beautiful beach with white sand spoilt by garbage everywhere due to lack of tourism and no waste disposal system on the island. If tourism improves then maybe it will change in the future.

i just returned from there......it is beautiful....not as cheap as most of thailand. i stayed at room for 300 bath, to the famous the beach where the movie was made you can get easily by boat trips are starting from 250 baths that is like 6 euros........wau....i miss the place so much. the only thing is that it got so famous that it is beginning to be kind of dirty lot of parties on the main beach.....but still definitely must go for every traveller

I was there in August of 2010. It was very beautiful, but a little crowded. I went searching for solitude, and found it not on the Koh Phi Phi Islands, but on one of the other islands in the Andaman Sea, where I was the only person there (other than the boat operator).

if you want to make nice pictures or films on maya bay, you have to talk to an long tail boat owner for going there atleast at 7.00 in the morning, cause after all tourists arrive there and you cant even see the beach, we came there and only 1 long tail boat was there, we had the whole beach alone for making fotos and stuff, anyway phi phi is full of tourists and the water is allready full of gasoline, i can imagine good how it looks in a few years^^ the nicest thing was bamboo island for sure^^

Ingphu viewpoint I would recommend. Nice little bungalows situated on the side of the hill about 5 minuete walk from the village surrounded by trees and monkeys. Remember the mosquito spray x

Been there, absolute tourist trap now. It's beautiful, but still a shame.
Just imagine those beaches 1000 years ago completely untouched. I bet some lucky people took boats out to that island hundreds of years ago and just chilled out the entire time - the whole place to theirselves. Paradise.

I have just come back from here and it is nothing like this anymore. The streets are dirty and the beech was rammed full of tourists, you can barely walk down the streets and maya bay.... from one side to the other was parked with boats.
What i thought was going to be 5 days in paradise isnt anymore. was still lovely just nothing like this vidio
