Beautiful, graceful, impressive piloting of a gorgoeus model. Hazel did well all those years ago with her full scale. Sig Manufacturing simply makes the best flying models.
Do you know what the flying weight less fuel is on her?
Thanks for that look into the bones! Construction seems pretty straightforward. I want to try an Aeronca 7' from scratch, but build it as light as I can for a .61!
did you made any modifications to the model during construction? i'm considering building the same size but with the standard wing since its build in two pieces it's more practical in terms of transport. how much does turn the Gemini 1.20 with 15x8 prop? i have a laser 100 that it will turn a 16x8 prop. but the engine is a long stroke one
I was not the original builder, but I believe the plans call for one aileron servo for both ailerons. This was changed to one each. I don't know the specs for my 1.20 but for sure I would not fly it with anything smaller or weaker.
I used DS821's for the ailerons and throttle and DS8411's for the rudder and elevator. It's a bit overkill but I wanted to replace the original Futaba "1/4 scale" servos with something at least as powerful.
It's not difficult to build at all. You need a big building board though because the wing is all one piece. It's tough to cover it back in the area where the vert stab meets the fuselage and have it look perfect. This is an excellent first large scale model.
@deltringham Thanks. so probably a 16x8 with the 1.60. I love the cub and the flat twin is realy perfect for it. I hate those chainsaw gas engins. Very nice work on the build to.
Thanks very much. The song is called "What I'm Talkin' About". It's an original by my brother Matt. Check the credits at the end of the video for more info.
and in my opinion i think it may look like its tail heavy cuz your motor is only 1.20. i had a 1/5 scale and i had a 1.00 on it. and it really wasn't the power i was looking for
How did the Robart gear fitted into the frame? Does it need modifications?
MrCubj3 1 week ago
@MrCubj3
It's perfect! No modification needed. I wish they included some bungee covers though.
It took me 1/2 a day to assemble and paint them.

That was a good work. I renewed my Cessna a year ago. Also problems with aged bonds and oil-weakened wood.

what kind of servos did you used on this type of model? is it a difficult model to built?

Nice. Very nice landing. I'm doing a cub j3 1/4 and will run the OS ft 160. What prop are you using?
(the music is a shame as it covers the engine sound)

Sorry I made the music too loud. Mine is a Gemini 1.20 with Graupner 15x8 prop. Good luck with your Cub!

marlscarvin 2 years ago
When you consider the full scale plane only had 75hp, I think the 1.20 flies it pretty scale-like.
deltringham 2 years ago
yeah thats what i was getting at.. how much does it weigh? i really like the clipped wing. flies nice.
marlscarvin 2 years ago
Lets get these out of the way now. Looks tail heavy, Engine seems (rich) (lean) - pick one.
Terriffic job. Nice flying.
As usual, great music by Matt.
