@boltonmerlin Hi. I'm at the Cotswold Water Park, on the north Wiltshire south Gloucestershire border. I went back to the Solo in the end as the Phantom is too big and I gather the Supernova offers even less control. We have swirly turbulent winds on our lake so control is essential when it's blowing. I got hold of a 40 year old wooden Solo which is in almost brand new condition.

I have gone back to the Solo. I looked at a Phantom and realised it is going to be way too big for where I sail and then I found a bargain Solo in wood in great condition so since I already have experience with the Solo I figured it better to put my bad experience with a badly built fibre glass Solo behind me and have another go. I'm currently re-rigging it and hope to make some vids when I get sailing again.
An epoxy Winder buillt Solo is just about indestructable. Hiking pants or a wetsuit will protect your shins. Supernovas and Solos are both well regarded. I prefer the Solo but I would suggest you choose the boat that is most popular at your club. Fleet racing so much more fun than handicap racing. Happy sailing.
Where are you in the country Dave?

@adrian21090 thanks Adrian. I'm now also looking at the Phantom as a possible alternative. So many boats, so little time, eh?
