There is a keyboard by Reni lowered in the final mix. Always worth a listen this track though. Reni drumming very un-Reni-like: very little Swing. A tad stiff IMO. Tough-ass drum-track to copy though. And, t'was a good seed for the song it eventually morphed into.
Even their Jams kicked like a mule. Stoned-funk. I wonder if they have another take of that tune in the vault with Reni playing a bit more uptempo or with more Swing? He's a tad rigid with the sticks on this one and that Ride On one too. Maybe they slowed him down to try something different? I get the feeling it was.
Stuff like this is why the Roses were unique in British rock bands. Reni, Ian and to some extent Mani listened to black music almost exclusively during the Second Coming years and subsequently had a great understanding of how it worked.
@bensaw actually only 2 of them said they did, Ian and Mani listened to rap, Reni and John listened to 70's rock pretty sure and other stuff like that.
yeah, Roses had a great rytham section,..instaed of the Led Zep copy tunes ,they always sounded better when they were funky with it, like this,..and Reni was said to be the real talented player in the band,..he could play Mani's Bass as good as him and play guitar real handy aswell,..
@carlos7217 led zeppelin copied? They took influence from a lot of the artists they supposedly 'copied'and actually dedicated their songs to them. Back in those days where everyone was playing blues, heaps of artists would cover songs. With those songs they made them so much more then what they were, they hardly sounded like the originals.
Fantastic jam, basically a re-worked instrumental of 'Breaking into heaven'. Much better sound with the drums and bass up front and less of Squire's ego.
best band evah

So great! I love this track.
I wish those leaked demo jam sessions from the second coming era were available in this quality. John and Reni really kick it.

@bagzie I want to hear a re-mastered Second Coming that sounds like this. Reni and Mani pushed up in the mix!
