My Blue Heeler dog keeps up with a truck going 40 MPH. But he is quicker than most Heelers by far. This video is one of the only pretty accurate speed videos. I may be wrong, but I thought the Italian hound and Whippet were as fast or faster than the greyhound? Cool video.

@GreyhoundLover12 Sorry 12 year old girl, Blue Heelers keep up with trucks going 45 miles an hour like it is a joke. Ask an Aussie. Like you said before in another video to me "Go learn something". Several stats are wrong because of the lack of knowledge/interest in a breed. I love Greyhounds, too, and hope you get the boyfriend from 3rd grade you said you wanted on your home page. Be nicer, and you may get him! :-)

@GreyhoundLover12 BTW, it is said that Blue Heelers only live to be about 13-14. Everyone I have ever known that had one, it lived to about 16-22. One did pass at 13. Very sad. The Guinness book says the oldest dog ever was a Blue Heeler at 29. I find that hard to believe, yet there are anomalies all around us. The point is...WHO CARES? You like speed? In the air it is the Paragon Falcon, over 200 MPH. And sea creatures faster at catching prey in a nano-second (Or Billionth)

@GreyhoundLover12 BTW, the Paragon (Bird, yes, I understand, not a land animal) Has been clocked at over 242 MPH! Terminal velocity is 120 (Time for you to learn something little Lady) And that was a trained animal not one needing food. So we have no idea the real speed possibly achieved in nature. Have you heard of a horse called Secretariat? Or Seabiscuit? U should learn instead of just being mean, just to get attention. Watch Hachiko and learn about loving dogs, please. :-)

I still think the Greyhound is going to be naturally faster, I was just saying sometimes there are freaks of nature, and another breed may just haul some butt! I also think it has to do with motivation. A hungry animal will go faster than usual. Very interesting, and hard to find out real speeds, ty! :-)

I didn't see many surprises except for the jackal, gray fox, jackrabbit, african wild dog, and the antelope (not that it's fast, but how fast. I've never seen one go 61 mph, I thought it was more like 40). Umm, yeah, I guess that's a lot of surprises come to think of it. But I have difficulties believing hyenas do 40 mph (or even 30). They have this slow, rocking horse gait that is relentless and can go many hours to wear out much faster prey. Not saying it's not true, but I have to see it.
