You're right! What confuses me is how an all-powerful entity like your god can make it so the only alternative to believing in him is eternal torture! This is not the act of a loving god but is rather the act of an eternally sadistic blackmailer. Also, the tree can and should be judged by its fruit. If Christianity's constituents are misrepresenting it, it's because the level of innate ambiguity associated with its doctrines is staggering. You give me any verse and I'll put a spin on it.

I can't disprove the existance of a god but I can say that the existance of god is unnecessary and his lack of existance goes a profoundly long way in explaining reality as it is. Stoning was part of Jewish law. not God's law. crusades were done by people who wanted more land. so they use (in the name of Christianity as their excuse) Personally I don't agree with any of these things those people did. @TheTantanski Sounds like you don't know anything, a soldier gets court marshalled for disobeying direct orders, in many countries they can be executed on the spot for insubordination, especially during wars. And what the hell does training have to do with anything. You're looking at it from an idealistic point of view, of course everyone always have a choice to do anything they want, but there's always a consequence for every action they tak.

@DeadEndScreamer exactly proves my point, soldiers gave up their reputations, their ranks and even lives disobeying orders in order to save lives of their comrades maybe even commanders. and when soldiers are training following orders is easy an no sweat, during battle when following an order means lives will be lost on your side, you decide if you will sacrifice your self or not.
