Is this like a big muff? I hate the scooped sound of big muffs, if I can get some good chord sounds that aren't too bassy then I think it's good. There are other videos where it doesn't sound like this.
Can I use it as a main dirt pedal with the gain on low and then go crazy with it topping out? I want to be able to do some fuzzpunk/garage type tones on low gain, and then do some shoegaze/Spaghetti Western stuff on the high gain.
I purchased the Fuzz War pedal from ProGuitarShop after watching this and many, many other demo videos.Thank you, Andy! Your demos are the best I've seen on the net! \m/
At the beginning I was thinking "is this it?" and then he turned up the guitar volume and I thought "now THAT'S what a death by audio fuzz pedal should sound like!"
I started playing about two years ago so I have a fairly simple set up a 92 Epiphone SG 400 and a small fender amp how would this sound on something small?
@KILLAPENGUIN95 The guitar should be ok (even if fuzzes sound better on single coils imo), it's a good guitar. Is the amp a valve (tube if you're american) or solid-state? Valves tend to take pedals much better than SS amps, and small, simple valve amps take pedals better than just about anything usually. Hope this helps :)
I played it yesterday with my musicman bass through my ampeg rig. HOLY FUCK!! I never heard such a sound! The Bass distorion was awsome!!!! lot of bottom but not so uncontrolled as a bigmuff is. you can hear the strokes...gonna chatch a fuzz war soon. Cant live without it. ;-) yepp, great for stoner, doom, sunn(((O noise etc....
even if i have a 20w tube head my fuzzwar doesn't sound this way. internal trim is set to max level, i use a telecaster with dually red lace sensor humbucker. sometimes it sound like if it's gated...any clue???
i've got this pedals but it doesn't sound this way. i've got a laney 20w lionhearth head+blackstar 212 cabinet.i play a telecaster with lace sensor dually red humbucker. don't know why but it look like mine pedal is gated. it doesn't have tons of sustain like this one...i hope it is not broken or it have some electronic trouble. internal trimmer is set to maximum fuzz. any clue???
Well, there's where you go wrong. A ROLAND JC-120??
Try the Fuzz War in a Music store through a Fender Twin or Marshall head. He's playing this into a Fender Deluxe Reverb in the video. TUBES!!!! where the warmth is. :)
The JC-120 is a great amp, but for the classic fuzz sounds in this demo (Page, Hendrix, etc.) PGSD is right -- you will probably need a tube amp. My favorite notable guitarist who uses/used a JC-120 is Adrien Belew (c.f. King Crimson, Discipline). Excellent sounds for sure, but a different type of sounds. Solid state and tube are using different applications of the laws of Physics.
I am thinking of adding a JC-120 to my setup to compliment my tube amp.
I love these videos - easily the most apropos to the pedal being demonstrated being put up by a shop. Unfortunately, I sneezed while rating and gave this a two - my bad it's the full five!
I'm stuck between this, the "Supersonic Fuzzgun"" and Earthquaker Devices "Hoof Fuzz" and "Dirt Transmitter". I'm looking for something with a decent range of fuzz that is actually usable. Any suggestions or other ideas?
I own a bunch of fuzz boxes including a Supersonic Fuzz Gun... which by the way is barely usable aside from anarchic soundscapes and square wave chaos. For something with tons of usable fuzz tones check out MI Audio's GI Fuzz. The name is stupid, it doesn't really look cool, but it's got a million tones and most of them sound great.
I checked out that GI Fuzz review and I think im sold. This Fuzz War sounds good, but for the same price the GI Fuzz has a lot more knobs for endless fuzzy tweeking. its a touch pick because this Fuzz War really sounds great. Maybe I should get both, LOL !! any advice?
i just bought one. it rocks. i play it through my marshall jcm 800 lead series halfstack and through my jazzmaster. it sounds huge. one of the biggest fuzz pedals ive ever played. i also own the metal muff. the metal muff has more of a classic rock sound ac/dc guns n roses style but the boost can send you into shred heaven. its more versitile, but theres more FUZZ in the fuzz war. I HAVE SPOKEN!!!
This pedal is great. Ive had it for about a week. It has a good all around but extremely aggressive fuzz sound. It sounds great with single coils. Id like to hear P90s or Gretsch Dynasonics.
Kinda like a Fulltone Octafuzz, nice. I like the overtones on this a little better than the Fulltone though. How well does this work with chords? I'm looking for the perfect fat fuzz for chord playing. Oliver is one gifted cat, all his pedals sound great.
