This happened to me too.then i just switched to ps3,and tested it and IT NEVER HAPPENED.so i hate xbox now

I think the Xbox360 has some great games, but the consoles faults can make those games amount to nothing.

Don't know why people try telling me what Game Console l should play on. l chose that one cause l wanted it. Besides all of the consoles have problems on them, it depends on how lucky you are, some last for years some last for weeks.

Microsoft needs to suck it and accept the fact that the xbox 360 scratches disks. Considering that xbox games are rediculously expensive, they're lucky anyone even buys them, so i think it would be more than fair for them to fix all xbox's that cause this problem, and replace all scratched discs.

My brother got the MW2 Edition Xbox 360 Brand new out of the box for christmas, I was playing it in the upright position without touching it, playing wireless, and it began scratching the disc and making a grinding noise, My brother thinks i broke the 360 of course... If this is baught in a store, will the refund us for this if we still have the receipt. I have no intention of getting any other gaming station but I just want to get him another Xbox

@1337041071 yellow light of death, meaning general hardware problem. besides that the ps3's hardware design is actually pretty solid. it uses a vacuum-esq system for ventilation which uses a single fan to suck in air from little cracks in the case where panels sit on the frame, and push out the hot air out of the back. the disc drive is very stable also. the yellow light is probably caused by the same reasons that the 360 gets the RROD but it happens far less often on the ps3.

scratched my friend's bayonetta disc during the install. the game still plays and installs fine, but you can SEE the scratch. i found a site that knows of the reason and a fix, so i'll post it when i find it.

I guarantee it was the kid's fault. I don't know about you, but whenever a little kid promises they didn't break something, they usually did. Even if it wasn't him picking up the console while the disk was running, putting it in a stable area is your responsibility too. I've had an Xbox 360 since the day it launched, I've never had an issue with the disk being scratched due to vibrations. You'd have to be jumping continuously right next to the console to do that.

My first XBOX done the same thing and the rings looked like a cup had been put on it but I know that wasn't the case!

I later found out I had one of a batch but they obvously haven't sorted the problem!

@SophisticatedMonster Dude, the games shouldn't break if we just turn the console on its side. Microsoft just can't make Disc Drives. And this kid didn't even move it. So it's not always their fault. And just instantly blaming them shows you think they're just demons or something.

It isn't Microsoft's problem if their consumer isn't intelligent enough to keep their console secured while in use. They're not expecting much. If you're not capable of this simple task, then you deserve what you get. There's nothing wrong with the disk drive. It's the idiots who abuse their consoles an games.

Look, the parents who have quite a bit of kids and probably know more of them than you believe them, and THEY were playing too! And you saw the tests. You have more than those four grown-ups saying they didn't move it. Seriously, I can move my DVD player, PC and even (I'm still an xbox fan) my PS2! And Microsoft makes a DVD drive which you can't even vibrate without it screwing up. Have some logic.

@SophisticatedMonster I just got the new Black XBox, had it for about one month. i was home alone playing NBA 2K12 sitting on a Lazy boy about 5 meters away from my TV (which sits on the most fucking stable unit in the world) and after 10min of play time it did the same thing. didnt touch the Xbox, lift it, move from my seat, shit i didnt even yell when i missed a dunk...
